Paula Abdul will soon appear on CBS as executive producer, creative partner and lead judge for the network’s new reality competition series Got To Dance (wt). Abdul will additionally be a coach, mentor and advocate for contestants during the performance and elimination phases as well as offering critiques and guidance. Got To Dance is inspired by the UK series which premiered earlier this year on Sky 1 and is now one of Britain’s top-rated pay TV series for the season. Amateur dancers from across the US, performing solo or as a group, can display any form of dancing and the most talented and entertaining will audition for Abdul and the other judges. The best of the crop will then perform live in the Semi-Finals and Finals rounds where they will compete to become the Got To Dance champion. The panel of expert judges and information on auditions will be available at a later date. The series format is from Shine Group, created by Princess Productions and Shine TV and produced by Reveille. In addition to Abdul, other executive producers include Elisabeth Murdoch, Howard T. Owens, Mark Koops and Robin Ashbrook. Shine International will handle distribution.

FOX announced yesterday it upgraded Glee by renewing the musical series through its third season. The first season finale of Glee is scheduled for June 8 at 859p and the sophomore season returns this fall airing on Tuesdays at 8p.

Sean Hayes (Will & Grace) will host the 64th Annual Tony Awards airing live on CBS June 13 at 8p from Radio City Musical Hall in New York City. Hayes is also up for a Tony this year for his performance in the musical Promises, Promises.

After a several-year hiatus, ABC struck a multi-year deal with the Miss America Organization to become the pageant’s television partner starting with the 2011 Miss America Pageant airing January 15. ABC gained the exclusive telecast rights for the pageant through 2013. The last time Miss America aired on ABC was in 2004 before it moved to CMT then bounced to TLC.

MSG began airing a fifth new season of MSG Vault on Monday where the one-hour episodes offer a historical perspective on the most memorable moments at Madison Square Garden with host Al Trautwig. Six more episodes in the new season will air each Monday night at 8p as part of the network’s Classic Mondays on MSG’s Summer Block Party.

HISTORY premieres a second season of American Pickers on June 7 at 9p. The series, the #1 new cable series of 2010, follows life-long buddies Mike Wolfe and Frank Fritz as they travel the country’s back roads and comb through junkyards and barns in search of “rusty gold” and hidden antique treasures. The first season of American Pickers tallied 3.8 million total viewers each episode. The opening episode on June 7 takes the pair to North Carolina where they look through a collector’s abandoned outbuilding and discover a 1950 Studebaker. Cineflix Productions produces the series for HISTORY.

TLC is ready to debut a third season of I Didn’t Know I Was Pregnant on June 9 at 9p. The series will present more surprising real-life stories of women who only became aware they were pregnant when they went into labor and delivery.

TV One launches its new reality series Donald J. Trump Presents The Ultimate Merger with a 90-minute episode on June 17 at 9p. The series, featuring former The Apprentice cast member Omarosa searching for her perfect mate will have its opening episode repeated on June 17 at midnight. The eight-episode reality series was created by Donald J. Trump and Trump Productions President Andy Litinsky and it is produced by Trump Productions LLC and Juma Entertainment.

The much-anticipated two-and-a-half hour series finale of Lost on ABC Sunday night drew in an average audience of 13.5 million viewers and posted a 5.8/15 among A18-49, thus enabling ABC to carry the last Sunday night in the 2010 May Sweep. The two-hour clip show Lost: The Final Journey airing at 7p attracted an average audience of 9.8 million viewers and posted a 4.0/13 with A18-49. Overall, the Lost series finale episode was the series’ best telecast since February 2008 in both viewers and young adults and in total viewers and among A18-49 was the series’ largest finale in three years. Furthermore, ABC estimates 20.5 million unique viewers tuned in to the series finale of Lost during the two-and-a-half hour period.

~  DISTRIBUTION, CLEARANCE & CARRIAGE ~

Late on Sunday, The Weather Channel (TWC) and Dish Network made a multi-year deal involving the continued carriage of TWC on the satellite provider. The deal clincher, after Dish Network threatened to drop TWC, has TWC producing a localized weather component for Dish’s satellite customers based on Weatherscan, an all-weather market-specific service that is carried by Comcast, Cox Communications, Charter Communications, Suddenlink Communications and other smaller operators.

~ PRODUCTION & DEVELOPMENT ~

Jamie Hyneman and Adam Savage, co-hosts of the MythBusters series on Discovery Channel, made a multi-year agreement to co-executive produce the series. The duo additionally formed a new production company where they will team with BermanBraun to develop and create new television series for Discovery Channel. Hyneman and Savage will also be involved with video games and a live show touring the nation. The pair and BermanBraun will further create and produce a new branded web effort. MythBusters is to date the longest-running series on Discovery Channel and is produced by Beyond Productions.

Casting Call: Food Network seeks professional chefs to compete in a new edition of the series Chopped. Experienced chefs must be dynamic, outgoing and have the ability to create a $10,000 meal out of the show’s mystery baskets. Chefs, male or female and of any ethnicity and cooking specialty are encouraged to apply. ~ RATINGS ~

Friday A18-49 Analysis: UNIV did best with the A18-49 demo Friday night at 1.7/6, according to final national ratings from Nielsen. UNIV topped at 8p with Hasta que el Dinero Nos Separe at 1.7/7 while the conclusion of Ghost Whisperer on CBS was a tenth of a rating point behind at 1.6/7. The second hour of UNIV’s Hasta que el Dinero Nos Separe was #1 again through 9p at 2.1/8 followed by ABC’s Primetime: What Would You Do? at 1.8/6. NBC closed the night in first place at 10p with Dateline posting a 1.6/6 and ABC’s 20/20 was next at 1.3/4.

~ EXECUTIVE MOVES ~

Input Media welcomed Claire Murphy as its new Director/Business Development. Claire, who joins from ITV Global Entertainment, will tap her experience and business contacts to generate new business avenues and client relationships. She will also supervise some of Input Media’s existing clients. While at ITV, Claire served as Commercial Sports Director.

Former VP/Original Programming at HGTV, Laura Sillars was named SVP/Lifestyle Programming for Hallmark Channels which encompasses Hallmark Channel and Hallmark Movie Channel, owned and operated by Crown Media Holdings, Inc. Laura will be charged with overseeing and developing programming falling in the lifestyle category as well as managing the relationship on a day-to-day basis with Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia and for creating programs that increase exposure for Hallmark Channel. Laura’s position will also work closely with the network’s on-air promotion, marketing and public relations teams to develop and execute a variety of promotional strategies. Based in New York, Laura will report to Bill Abbott, President/CEO, Hallmark Channels.

Lauren Dolgen advances to SVP/MTV Series Development, West Coast at MTV. Lauren will now manage reality programming emanating from the West Coast for MTV in addition to overseeing the West Coast slate and staff. Lauren has been with MTV for 12 years and has worked on various production development projects including Randy Jackson Presents: America’s Best Dance Crew, Rob Dyrdek’s Fantasy Factory, Rob and Big among other shows.

Current Media appointed John Arianas as VP/East Coast Sales where he will be in charge of supervising the company’s New York ad sales office and be integrally involved in its strategy for the annual advertising upfront. John will further work with the company’s programming and marketing units in addition to heading East Coast Current TV and digital sales along with new business development efforts. John reports to Ken Ripley, EVP/Advertising Sales.

Stephanie Eller takes on the new position as Managing Director/Marketing and Business Development with MEC. Stephanie will spearhead all marketing and business development activities for MEC in North America and will also be involved in the media agency’s new business initiatives worldwide. Based in New York, Stephanie will report to Lee Doyle, CEO, North America. Previously, Stephanie was SVP/Director of Business Development and Marketing at MediaVest.

Tribune Company’s national sales solutions group, Tribune365 hired Donna Palmer as Account Director/Political and Advocacy Sales. Donna will be located in Washington, D.C. and will work with the company’s publishing division to establish a presence within the political and advocacy sales sector. Donna most recently was with Congressional Quarterly where she served in senior sales roles for the last six years.

Rive Gauche Television added Marine Ksadzhikyan as VP/International Sales. Marine will be in charge of steering the company’s worldwide sales strategy and business development efforts in Eastern Europe, Scandinavia, the Middle East and Asia. Marine will work in tandem with Gary MacKinney and Tomas Silva and will report jointly to Jon Kramer and David Auerbach. Marine comes to Rive Gauche from GRB Entertainment where she held the position as a senior sales executive for the last eight years.
