Whale Wars: Viking Shores is produced for Animal Planet by The Lizard Trading Company.

On Monday, MTV renewed Jersey Shore for a sixth season and the full cast will be returning to the show.  Production is set to commence this summer.  MTV is also airing Jersey Shore: The Reunion this Thursday at 10p.

GroupM and Nielsen are partnering to develop a new measurement service which will merge media planning and measurement across television and the internet.  The new service is called Nielsen Cross-Platform Campaign Ratings and it will leverage the Nielsen Online Campaign Ratings product in addition to its current television audience measurement service to offer clients with total and overlapped reach and frequency for their marketing campaigns.  Nielsen Online Campaign Ratings will provide reach, frequency and GRP measures for online advertising.  GroupM and Nielsen will each contribute resources and knowledge to create Cross-Platform Campaign Ratings and make it available to GroupM clients.  Furthermore, the two entities will work together to create new measurement tools designed to extend beyond TV and online to other platforms.

Outdoor network, Sportsman Channel will become a Nielsen-rated network as of March 26.  Sportsman Channel has now exceeded 31 million homes.

On the heels of canceling its talk show, The Rosie Show, OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network has eliminated 30 positions at the network’s Los Angeles and New York offices.  The responsibilities of these staffers will be distributed through the network’s venture partners, Discovery Communications and Harpo Studios.

Sunday’s season two finale of AMC’s original series The Walking Dead at 9p became the series’ highest-rated episode ever.  The finale episode attracted 9.0 million viewers as well as 6.0 million with A18-49; 5.3 million among A25-54; and a cume of 10.5 million total viewers combining the 9p episode with an encore at 1130p.
