Good Morning, it’s Tuesday, January 23, 2007 and this is your first early morning briefing.
The President’s State of the Union address will be presented live on all the major networks tonight starting at 9p and will conclude with the Democratic response. Check the broadcast lineup at the bottom of this email for each network’s schedule pre- and post-Prez.
The New England sports network, NESN, is partnering with Scout Productions to produce a new reality show Sox Appeal. The 10-episode series will begin airing in July and will chronicle three, two-inning length blind dates that happen during eight televised Red Sox games all shot inside Fenway Park. The “hero” date must choose between three hopefuls and during the 7th inning stretch must finally decide who will be the romantic “date” for the remainder of the game. Strikeouts can happen, though, with these Sox fans. For information on casting for the show wait for the Sox Appeal web site to launch in mid-February.
DirecTV and CBS have a new multi-year pact allowing DirecTV to continue airing NCAA out-of-market games during CBS Sports’ broadcast of the NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Championship. DirecTV subscribers must purchase the NCAA Mega March Madness package and they will receive up to 37 out-of-market games from the first three rounds of the championship. DirecTV customers will also get the chance to view all 64 games of the NCAA tournament. In addition, CBS’ CSTV is now viewed by more than 8 million DirecTV customers, taking the CSTV household reach to more than 20 million homes across the U.S.

- James Badge Dale has been cast in the ABC pilot project Fort Pit, a drama set in one of NYC’s ugliest police precincts, and where older cops go to finish up their careers, and new rookies are sent because they have no pull. Dale will play such a rookie, fresh out of the academy. The project is from Apostle and Sony Pictures TV.
- The Fox comedy The Return of Jezebel James about two estranged sisters who reunite when one agrees to carry the baby of the other, has added Scott Cohen to the cast. Cohen plays one of the sister’s current main squeeze, albeit a confirmed bachelor.
