Nancy A. Carr, most recently SVP/Corporate Communications for the Hallmark Channels, died last Friday after a long illness. Before joining Hallmark Channels, Ms. Carr was VP/Communications at the CBS Television Network from 1999 to 2004 where she supervised publicity for series, movies, miniseries and specials such as the Grammy Awards, the Primetime Emmy Awards and the Tony Awards. Ms. Carr was active in numerous industry organizations including serving as governor in the Public Relations Peer Group and as a member of the Diversity Committee for the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. In her personal life, Ms. Carr also dedicated much time and energy to animal rights and animal rescue activities. There will be no public service. In a statement last Friday, Hallmark Channel’s President/CEO, Bill Abbott said in part, “We are grateful to Nancy for guiding the company’s corporate media strategy for more than five years. On the personal side, those of us who cared deeply for and about Nancy will never forget her dedication to life’s smallest creatures, as she worked tirelessly for animal rights and animal rescue.”
