Docu-series Welcome to Sweetie Pie’s produced by Pilgrim Studios returns to OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network with new episodes beginning March 31 at 9p. The series is about former Ikette Miss Robbie Montgomery and her family as they run their St. Louis soul food restaurant, Sweetie Pie’s. Following at 10p, OWN debuts new eight-episode one-hour original series Beverly’s Full House featuring supermodel Beverly Johnson and her family as they reunite and live under the same roof. Beverly’s Full House is produced by Good Clean Fun.
As of yesterday, Comedy Central’s The Colbert Report resumes production on new shows after suddenly halting production last week. The show, starring Stephen Colbert, did not offer an official reason for the abrupt cancellation of tapings though reports circulated saying Colbert’s 91-year old mother had health concerns.
On March 4, EPIX will air live and commercial-free Amnesty International’s Secret Policeman’s Ball held at New York’s Radio City Music Hall. The comedy and music festival will begin at 7p.
Last Thursday, Univision aired the 24th annual edition of the Latin music awards show, Premio Lo Nuestro that amassed 10.8 million viewers tuning in to all or part of the live three-hour broadcast. The awards show also delivered an average audience of 5.6 million total viewers as well as 3.1 million among A18-49 and 1.8 million with A18-34.

Late last week, MSG Media made a tentative carriage deal with Time Warner Cable involving MSG Media’s networks, MSG, MSG+ and Fuse.
Former Friends star Matthew Perry landed a recurring role on CBS’ The Good Wife. Perry will play Mike, a charming Chicago attorney who will head a top-notch panel investigating a suspicious police shooting. Perry’s first appearance will be in the March 25 episode.
ABC tapped Mary McCormack (In Plain Sight) for the lead role in an untitled comedy pilot. McCormack will play Hilary, a powerful executive who suddenly loses her job and finds herself as a stay-at-home mom to teenagers.
Ugly Betty star Ana Ortiz will join Marc Cherry’s pilot for ABC titled Devious Maids. Ortiz will play Marisol, one of the four maids who all have ambition and individual dreams and work for the wealthiest families in Beverly Hills. Dania Ramirez has also been cast in the pilot.
ABC further cast Anthony LaPaglia in the drama pilot Americana, about a fashion designer who welcomes a new person into his family and label.
Daytime soap NBC’s Days of Our Lives is bringing back Charles Shaughnessy (The Nanny) to reprise his role as Shane Donovan, per THR. Shaughnessy previously played his role as an ISA agent from 1984 to 1992, in 2002 and more recently in 2010. His first appearance on Days will be the May 2 episode.
SCIENCE approved a new spinoff series based on its series Oddities. The new series, Oddities: San Francisco is set at Loved To Death, a West Coast boutique filled with bizarre artifacts and eccentric personnel. Leftfield Pictures is producing the spinoff series for SCIENCE; Leftfield is also behind the original Oddities set at Obscura Oddities and Antiques in New York. Leftfield’s Brent Montgomery and David George are EPs. New episodes of Oddities air on SCIENCE Saturdays at 9p and 930p.
UK-based production company, Electric Sky Productions was commissioned by US channel 3net to produce a five-part 3D mega systems series titled Super Systems. The one-hour series will showcase some of the most complex systems in the world as well as the people and machines that operate them. The series will focus on the largest train station in the world, Grand Central Terminal in New York and the US’s busiest international airport, John F Kennedy Airport to large farming systems.
Thursday A18-49 Analysis: FOX conquered the competition Thursday with a 5.1/14 among A18-49, according to final national ratings from Nielsen. At 8p, American Idol on FOX was #1 at 5.1/15 followed by CBS’ comedies The Big Bang Theory and Rob at an average of 4.2/12. The second hour of American Idol kept FOX at #1 through 9p at 5.1/13 and ABC moved into #2 slot with Grey’s Anatomy at 3.2/8. CBS was the winner at 10p with The Mentalist at 2.7/7 and ABC’s Private Practice was a close second at 2.6/7.

DISH Media Sales elevated Adam Gaynor to Director/Advertising Sales. In his new role, Adam will head all national general market ad sales activity in addition to managing the DISH general market sales teams located in New York, Chicago and Los Angeles. He continues to report to Warren Schlichting, SVP/Media Sales and Analytics.
Meredith has established a new Video Assets Creation Unit within its National Media Group. J.R. McCabe, VP/Chief Video Officer, National Media Group will head the new Video Assets Creation Unit, reporting to Doug Olson, EVP/Director of Business Operations and Development. This new unit will focus on creating original video content for Meredith’s major brands across digital platforms such as websites, tablet devices and mobile and it will utilize state-of-the art video production facilities at Meredith’s New York offices, as well as expanded facilities at the company’s Des Moines headquarters. As a result of these changes, the Meredith Video Network, headed by Michael Knott, VP/Executive Producer will move to the Meredith Women’s Network, reporting to Andy Wilson, SVP/Audience Development and Commerce. Additionally, Meredith Video Studios will continue to produce original programming including The Better Show which was recently renewed for a sixth season. Congratulations, J.R.! Well done!
