SCI FI Channel will move its Battlestar Galactica series to Sunday nights at 10p starting January 21, following the premiere of The Dresden Files at 9p. Produced by Lionsgate, The Dresden Files is about a Chicago private eye who also happens to be a wizard. In addition, SCI FI has announced a 9% production increase for next year, as the network plans on 210 hours of original programming.

WE tv will launch two themed programming one-hour blocks in January that will serve as umbrellas over a rotation of programs. Real Mysteries an anthology of dramas with a mystery theme will air Fridays at 10p starting January 5 and will include the shows Case Reopened: The Black Dahlia, Who Killed Diana and Crimes of Passion. The second anthology WE Spotlight will air Mondays at 10p beginning January 22 and will include Vietnam Nurses, The Other Side of the Cell and Extreme Skinny Celebrities among other shows.

Sony Pictures Television‘s new court series Judge David Young has been cleared in 55% of the country so far for the 2007-2008 season. Cleared in 17 out of the top 20 markets, Judge David Young is set to launch next fall in first-run, national syndication.  In the top markets, clearances include: FOX O&Os in New York, LA, Chicago, Dallas, Washington and Houston, as well as CBS O&Os in Philadelphia, San Francisco, Boston, Atlanta and Detroit.  Several Sinclair markets are also cleared, including Baltimore, Raleigh, Cincinnati and Milwaukee.

* PRODUCTION & DEVELOPMENT *

Rick Schroder will join the cast of FOX’s 24 as CTU Operative Mike Doyle who partners with Keifer Sutherland’s character Jack Bauer. Season six premieres over two nights and four hours on January 14 and January 15 at 8p each night. 24 will resume its regular time period on January 22 at 9p.

Fox has ordered a script of a medical drama, so far untitled, from Ventanarosa, and produced by 20th Century Fox TV. Per Variety, the drama is set in a medical school, and follows the students in their educational aspirations as well as their personal lives outside of school.  Writing the pilot is Joe Sachs, a writer/medical consultant and co-exec prod for ER.

The CW has signed a talent holding deal with Mario Lopez, the dimpled runner up from Dancing with the Stars. The deal will cast Lopez in a pilot for next season, or develop a series for him.
