MTV Networks’ Logo nodded approval for one new project for the 2011-2012 season, expanded a current series and granted renewals to three other series:
- S#x Rx (wt) – New docu-reality series focuses on s#x addiction, dysfunction and relationships led by s#x addiction specialist Christopher Donaghue as the show profiles clients who are seeking group therapy treatment for a variety of issues. PB&J Television produces. Ten one-hour episodes premiere this fall. Editorial note – “#” used for Cynopsis spam filter evasion purposes, not part of the working title
- The A-List: Dallas – Logo expands its popular docu-reality franchise A-List and travels to Dallas delving into its socialite world. Produced by True Entertainment, eleven one-hour episodes launch this fall.
Logo’s returning series:
- RuPaul’s Drag Race – A fourth season with 14 one-hour episodes premiere in winter 2012. From World of Wonder Productions.
- Untucked: RuPaul’s Drag Race – New season with 12 half-hour episodes opens in winter 2012. World of Wonder Productions also produces this series going behind-the-scenes of RuPaul’s Drag Race.
- The A-List: New York – New season is back this summer with 11 one-hour episodes. True Entertainment produces.
Scripted comedy series The Game continues its Renaissance on BET as the network renewed the series for a fifth season. The Game’s most recent season premiere tallied 7.7 million for BET and its recent finale brought in 4.4 million total viewers. In 2009, The CW Network cancelled The Game and BET picked up the series. In addition, BET also granted a sophomore season renewal for the comedy Let’s Stay Together which averaged close to 3.0 million viewers over its first season. BET also is adding another new series to its lineup with Reed Between the Lines, starring Tracee Ellis Ross (Girlfriends) as a woman balancing three jobs, being a mom, wife and a successful psychiatrist. Kellie Griffin is on board to write Reed Between the Lines.
Investigation Discovery gave an additional order of 26 episodes to series Who the (Bleep) Did I Marry? for its second season. The half-hour series relating secrets about men who misled unsuspecting brides will debut July 13 at 10p. Who the (Bleep) Did I Marry? is produced by Sirens Media. Furthermore, Investigation Discovery will tie this series in with the Royal Wedding with a Who the (Bleep) Did I Marry? marathon on April 30 beginning at 5p.
Eco-adventurer Boaz Frankel embarks on a cross-country journey using numerous modes of transportation except gas-powered automobiles in a new 10-episode series The Un-Road Trip debuting this Friday, Earth Day at 8p on Halogen TV. Frankel travels via waterways and forest trails using bike paths and rail lines but avoids highways altogether discovering 101 different ways to travel more than 12,000 miles across the country. THE UN-ROAD TRIP is produced for Halogen TV by Todd Lewis and Boaz Frankel.
History’s launch of American Restoration last Friday at 10p landed 3.3 million total viewers as well as 1.5 million with A18-49 and 1.6 million A25-54 viewers. The premiere is now History’s top series telecast ever for a Friday night.

3net, the joint 3D network venture between Sony, Discovery Communications and IMAX commenced principal photography on The Civil War 3D, the world’s first native 3D war docu-series. The four-hour miniseries is slated to premiere on 3net this fall and will depict both the North and South experiences by offering parallel personal stories from soldiers in opposing regiments. Towers Productions, LLC is producing the series and is using authentic archival imagery, scripted reenactments and character narrative to relate the history.
Alan Cumming offered a new three-year agreement to continue in his role as campaign strategist Eli Gold on CBS’ The Good Wife. At the start of this current second season, Cumming was upped to a series regular after recurring during the frosh season. CBS has yet to renew The Good Wife, though for a third season as well as a fourth or fifth season.

Friday A18-49 Analysis: ABC and FOX both hit #1 Friday night at 1.5/5 with the A18-49 demo, according to final national ratings from Nielsen. FOX edged into first place at 8p with Kitchen Nightmares at 1.6/6 with ABC’s Shark Tank nipping close behind at 1.5/5. Also in the 8p hour, the newest and final season of Friday Night Lights debuted on NBC at 0.9/3, ranking sixth overall. Univision’s Teresa won at 9p with a 1.5/5 while ABC’s Primetime: What Would You Do? and FOX’s Fringe tied for second place at 1.4/4 each. Then at 10p, Telemundo’s La Reina del Sur topped the pack at 1.7/5 and a three-way tie for #2 occurred between ABC’s 20/20, NBC’s Dateline and Univision’s Triunfo del Amor at 1.5/5 apiece.

FOX’s Kevin Reilly, President/Entertainment announced a restructure of its casting department:
- Marcia Shulman relocates to New York to become an exclusive Casting Consultant to FOX where she will continue to direct the network on key casting decisions and will now be involved in talent discovery within and outside the US.
- Bob Huber relayed his decision to retire after more than 30 years involved in casting.
- Tess Sanchez elevated to SVP/Casting to succeed Marcia Shulman in overseeing FOX’s casting department beginning June 1. Tess will report to Kevin Reilly and supervise the network’s bi-coastal team in charge of casting for the network’s current series and projects in development.
- As part of her role, Tess Sanchez will hire new staff members for FOX’s casting team in the coming months. Her first new addition is Seth Yanklewitz as VP/Casting, reporting to Tess. Furthermore, Clint Alexander promoted to Director/Casting working with Marcia Shulman in New York.
Laine Drewery hired by Proper Television as Executive Producer, effective immediately. Laine will concentrate on the company’s increasing specialty factual programming roster, working with broadcasters and hiring production teams.
Jonathan D. Sumber added at Hearst Television as Director/Digital Sales joining from Media Networks, Inc., a unit of Time Inc. Jonathan will be based at Hearst’s New York City headquarters.
Effective immediately, Ellen Davis named Creative Director at SmashPoint Creative Works where she will manage all On-Air Promotions for NBC Universal’s Maury, The Jerry Springer Show and The Steve Wilkos Show. Previously, Ellen worked as a freelance Promotion Director at Fox News and Verizon FiOS 1 News.
SapientNitro, part of Sapient took on three new executives, Gary Holme, Trevor Schoenfeld and Elliott Smith as Creative Directors for its Toronto office. The trio are added to the company’s leadership team under Brad Simms, Regional Head in Toronto and will lead traditional creative and digital strategy for specific Canadian market clients and beyond such as Chrysler, Coca-Cola and Target.com.
Allison Bennett appointed Director/Corporate Communications and Media Relations for Crown Media Networks, the recently established unit encompassing Hallmark Channel and Hallmark Movie Channel under parent company Crown Media Holdings, Inc. Allison is based in New York City, reporting to Annie Howell, SVP/Communications and Media Relations. In her new position, Allison works in tandem with Annie Howell to create and implement strategic corporate communications and media relations efforts involved with the company’s positioning in a variety of areas such as business development, distribution growth, public affairs initiatives, ratings results news and brand messaging. Allison will additionally head internal communications.
Tribune Broadcasting tapped Larry Delia as VP/GM of its television stations WXIN-TV and WTTV-TV in Indianapolis, effective immediately. Larry has served as VP/GM of WPMT-TV in Harrisburg, PA since summer of 2008 and prior to that as VP/GM of Tribune’s duopoly in New Orleans at WGNO-TV/WNOL-TV from 2002 to 2008.
David Brown upped to EVP/GM with Meredith Integrated Marketing. His new role expands David’s supervision of Meredith Integrated Marketing’s Content and Customer Relationship Marketing (CRM) business in addition to managing Directive, the company’s database analytics agency. David has been with Meredith Integrated Marketing since 2005.
Univision Communications Inc. welcomes Eric W. Conrad as VP/Programming for Univision Deportes. Eric will manage sports programming, acquisitions and content creation across all of the company’s platforms. Based in New York, Eric reports to Alexander “Sandy” Brown, President/Sports at Univision Communications Inc.
