~ MORE GOOD STUFF ~

ABC revealed the celebrity cast of Skating with the Stars from BBC Worldwide Productions when the series premieres with a two-hour episode on November 22 at 9p. The six celebrities include:

  • Rebecca Budig, presently a cast member of ABC’s daytime series All My Children.
  • Bethenny Frankel, star of Bravo’s reality series Bethenny Getting Married?.

FOX said its new police drama series The Chicago Code, previously titled Ride-Along, will premiere Monday, February 7 at 9p, one night after Super Bowl XLV. Shot on location in Chicago, the drama stars Jason Clarke and Jennifer Beals.  20th Century Fox Television and MiddKid Productions produce the series that is written and executive produced by Shawn Ryan and Tim Minear.

The CW decided to not extend a full second season order to Life Unexpected. Recently, The CW gave the drama two extra scripts though now will limit the run to the 13 originally-ordered episodes. The CW has further denied it is canceling Life Unexpected. In its latest airing, Life Unexpected delivered less than 1 million viewers down from the 1.7 million viewers it pulled in for the second season premiere.

The Walt Disney Company is selling two of its O&O television stations that are a part of the ABC Owned Television Stations Group. Stations WJRT/Flint and WTVG/Toledo are the two smallest stations in Disney’s stable and both are being sold back to their previous owner, SJL Broadcasting. Rebecca Campbell, president of ABC Owned Television Stations Group, said the transaction was part of the division’s strategy to concentrate on larger markets. The deal involving WJRT and WTVG is pending FCC approval and it is likely to be finalized early next year.

TLC is bringing back another season of LA INK starring Kat Von D. The network ordered eight episodes for season 4B set to launch next spring. Original Media produces the series for TLC.

Later this month, TLC debuts new series Pawn Queens on November 18 at 10p with back-to-back premiere episodes. The half-hour series introduces boutique pawn shop owners Minda and Nikki and their business partners Greg and Tom as they buy, pawn and sell items at their family-run business that caters to female shoppers. Varuna TV produces Pawn Queens for TLC.

Investigation Discovery delves in the world of exploited women of Las Vegas in the three-part series Hookers: Saved on the Strip opening December 8 at 10p. The episodes follow Annie Lobert whose mission it is to free women from the violence of the sex industry through her faith-based organization, Hookers For Jesus. Annie established Destiny House, a transitional home providing a safe, nonjudgmental haven for women where they can rebuild their lives. The series is produced for Investigation Discovery by Sara Productions.

Spike TV has a new one-hour non-scripted series in the pipeline titled Most Lethal, where top real-life warriors from the various tiers of special operation forces battle each other to determine who is the toughest. The 10-episode series, produced by GRB Entertainment will go inside these covert special operation forces to see their weapons and their training operations. Most Lethal is slated to premiere on Spike in summer 2011.

And on a personal note … The 13th United Nations Association Film Festival (UNAFF) was held in California last week and I’m proud to tell you “Who Killed Chea Vichea?” won the top prize in Cinematography.  This documentary film (57m, Director Bradley Cox; Producers Rich Garella and Jeffrey Saunders) is a highly charged murder mystery and political thriller. On a sunny morning in 2004, as Chea Vichea, President of the Cambodian Free Trade Union, was reading the paper at a sidewalk newsstand, when he was assassinated. Director Bradley Cox was on the scene just moments after the shooting, and from that point forward, followed the unfolding of this story of injustice, frame-up, widespread corruption and implications reaching far beyond the police station and the courtroom.

This film has been banned in Cambodia by the government. It was last screened for reporters at the AFL-CIO headquarters in Washington D.C., has won numerous awards at international film festivals.  For more information, email [email protected].  Oh, and my interest?  The Director Bradley Cox is my brother, and I think this film should be seen widely in the U.S.
