TNT canceled the cop series Dark Blue from Jerry Bruckheimer and Warner Horizon Television headlined by Dylan McDermott. Dark Blue ran for two seasons with the second season concluding in early September and averaged nearly 2.2 million viewers per episode. TNT is also slated the premiere date for season two of Men of a Certain Age on December 6.

Hallmark Channel is premiering new series and new episodes of MSLO-produced series come January as part of the network’s Hallmark Channel Home block. The new series include:

  • Martha Bakes – New series marks the first baking series hosted by Martha Stewart. The 13-episode, half-hour series offers a visual Baking 101 course trying out the best savory and sweet recipes. Premieres in January; date/time TBD.
  • Petkeeping with Marc Morrone – New docu-series offering advice and practical information from Martha Stewart’s favorite petkeeper, Marc Morrone as well as other top animal experts.
  • Also during first quarter, Hallmark Channel announced new episodes will air of The Martha Stewart Show airing at 10a weekdays and a renewal of daytime series Mad Hungry with Lucinda Scala Quinn with 80 new episodes airing weekdays at 11a. Production on Mad Hungry begins in January.
  • Furthermore in first quarter, Hallmark Channel will air its talk show Whatever with Alexis & Jennifer on Saturdays at 11p (launch date TBD). The show is filmed live in New York in front of a studio audience hosted by Alexis Stewart and Jennifer Koppelman Hutt. Then airing at 12a, Hallmark Channel is the new and exclusive home of the series Whatever, Martha! featuring Alexis and Jennifer as they offer personal comments about old episodes of The Martha Stewart Show. Produced by MSLO and currently in its third season, Whatever, Martha! premieres with 26 new episodes.

MTV debuts a new docu-series showcasing amazing and shocking stories from around the world when The Vice Guide to Everything opens December 6 at 11p. The series follows Vice magazine founder Shane Smith and his intrepid reporters, Ryan Duffy and Thomas Morton as they travel the globe investigating bizarre and dangerous stories from ferreting out Al Qaeda in Yemen to testing bulletproof jackets in Bogota.

MTV also is proceeding with a new season of Teen Mom with a new cast chosen from MTV’s 16 and Pregnant series, reports THR. Teen Mom is currently in production and is projected to debut January 11.

Beginning next Monday, Retirement Living TV (RLTV) premieres the new four-part original series Taking Care With Joan Lunden at 8p. The series will air on consecutive nights, November 22-25 at 8p. The series featuring former GMA host Joan Lunden and numerous experts, focuses on the complexities and need of the caregivers and those they are caring for. Lunden meets with real families who are struggling with these issues and the topics covered include Mind, Body, The Spirit and The Environment.

FUNimation Channel, the 24/7 HD anime television network, launched four new animated series in primetime this past Monday. The network’s new primetime lineup, airing from 9-11p on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays includes the 26-episode comedy series Oh! Edo Rocket, the 13-episode supernatural series Corpse Princess as well as Sengoku Basara: Samurai Kings and Spice and Wolf. FUNimation Channel is also bringing back the sci-fi action series Full Metal Panic! in daytime with 24 episodes.

FOX Deportes will again air the Copa Nissan Sudamericana as part of the network’s exclusive Spanish-language soccer commitment. The 9th installment of Copa Sudamericana will begin with the semifinals on November 17 with the second phase starting November 24.

Golf Channel is showcasing golf legends over 12 consecutive nights as the network premieres 12 Nights at the Academy on November 29 at 7p though December 10. The instructional show will feature Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer, Greg Norman and Gary Palmer among others, offering their experiences and advice to viewers on how to improve their game.

Entravision Communications Corporation said it delivered its highest ratings ever for the 2010 Latin Grammy Awards that aired on November 11 at 8-11p on stations located in Nielsen metered and local people metered markets. The 2010 broadcast earned Entravision a +17% bump in ratings over 2009 and a +40% increase over 2008 in the cross-market ratings weighted average for TV households during the time period.

~ DISTRIBUTION, CLEARANCE & CARRIAGE ~

Warner Bros. Domestic Television Distribution (WBDTD) announced it has sold the sitcom Two and a Half Men in its second off-network syndication run. Additionally, the comedy has been renewed for the next seven years through September 2021. Tribune re-licensed the show for a second cycle on all of its 19 television stations that have carried the first cycle of the show including stations in New York, Los Angeles and Chicago among others. Sinclair in turn, also renewed Two and a Half Men for a second stint for all 21 of its markets including Pittsburgh, Nashville, Columbus among others. Two and a Half Men first launched in syndication in 2007 and currently is the #1 off-net comedy among A25-54 for the last 163 consecutive weeks. Two and a Half Men is produced by Chuck Lorre Productions, Inc., The Tannenbaum Company in association with Warner Bros. Television.

~ PRODUCTION & DEVELOPMENT ~

Pierce Brosnan may be making a TV comeback in a new project produced by Sony Pictures Television, cites THR. Brosnan, known for his former Remington Steel TV role and starring in four James Bond films will appear in and produce a new series about an international operative and problem solver for hire. Brosnan is not expected to be the lead character in the project. Sony TV is first shopping the series in the international marketplace. Executive producers include Jack Orman (ER), Beau St. Clair, Keri Selig as well as Brosnan.

Comedienne Kathy Griffin has said her series, Bravo’s My Life on the D List, may not be back for a seventh season, per EW. Griffin said she would be interested in doing “a hybrid show, like a half-scripted kind of thing or something based on what I built on My Life on the D List and what I experience, but not a full-on reality show.”

Casting Call: Doron Ofir Casting is looking for fun and outrageous families in the Los Angeles area to part of a family-themed pop culture trivia game show from the producers of Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader?. Multi-generational families of all ethnicities are invited to apply. The show is looking for two families consisting of four members each with family members falling into at least four of the following five age ranges: 12-15, 16-30, 31-45, 46-64 and 65+. Tuesday  A18-49 Analysis: FOX remained the leader Tuesday night posting a 3.6/10 among A18-49 viewers, according to final national ratings from Nielsen. FOX’s Glee wowed viewers at 8p with a 5.0/14 and the next nearest competitor was CBS’ NCIS at 3.9/11. At 9p, ABC narrowly won the hour with Dancing with the Stars Results at 3.4/9 and CBS’ NCIS: Los Angeles was a tenth of a rating point behind at 3.3/9. CBS then made it to first place at 10p as The Good Wife delivered a 2.2/6 with NBC’s Parenthood next at 1.8/5 and ABC’s Detroit 1-8-7 in a close third place at 1.7/5.

~ EXECUTIVE MOVES ~

FOX Broadcasting named Toby Byrne to the position of President/Sales. Toby begins his new role January 1 succeeding Jon Nesvig who recently revealed his retirement plans at the end of this year. Toby currently is FOX’s SVP/Eastern Sales and has been with the company 15 years, joining in 1996 as an Account Services Representative.

Andy Kubitz was elevated to SVP/Program Planning and Scheduling at CBS. Andy, who has been with CBS for the last 15 years, will continue to oversee the scheduling of the network’s primetime series, specials, television movies and miniseries. Andy also is involved with scheduling for The CW and CBS’ theatrical acquisitions. He reports to Kelly Kahl, SEVT/CBS Primetime.

Hoff Productions advanced Rex Vigil to Director/Development up from Manager/Development. Rex has been with the company since 2004 and has served in his most recent capacity since 2008.

Katz Marketing Solutions (KMS), the national marketing division of the Katz Media Group promoted Molly Wythes to head the New York office of KMS and Julie Lane will continue to manage the KMS office in Dallas and will now supervise the KMS office in Chicago.

Effective immediately, TidalTV adds James DiGirolamo as Director/Sales Development and Genevive Trencher as Manager/Sales Development. James most recently was an Interactive Planner at Mediacom while Genevive previously was with Jumptap where she was an Ad Programs Coordinator and Project Manager. Both James and Genevive will be based in New York reporting to Mark McKee, VP/Marketing.

Ian Jones was tapped by A&E Television Networks, LLC (AETN) as Managing Director/Content Distribution and Commercial Development for AETN International. In his new role, Ian will oversee the international distribution of AETN’s content library and digital efforts outside the US. Based in New York, Ian will further manage a sales team based in the UK, Singapore and New York as well as sales reps in Sydney, Montreal and Tokyo. Ian begins his new position in December and will report to Sean Cohan, SVP/International, AETN.
