As of yesterday, Lifetime unveiled its rebrand consisting of a new look, message, tagline and brand campaign across multiple platforms. The network’s new logo and tagline is: Your Life. Your Time which will form the foundation of the Lifetime brand and offer what the network describes as an “aspirational tone and bolder spirit connecting Lifetime’s brand and growth in original programming.” Lifetime began its rebranding efforts more than a year ago with the network’s expansion of up to 350 hours of original programming. Competition series Tattoo School received a series order from TLC following the special that aired last summer. The series watches as students are put through a two-week crash course in tattoo artistry in Louisiana. Tattoo School debuts May 24 at 10p.
A second season of Pregnant in Heels clicks into place on Bravo’s schedule beginning May 15 at 10p. The new season continues to feature premier maternity concierge, Rosie Pope who guides wealthy expecting mothers in New York City through the joys and travails of pregnancy. During the series’ first season in 2010, Pregnant in Heels delivered the youngest audience of any original series to-date for Bravo with a median age of 33.7. Pregnant in Heels is produced by Hud:sun Media for Bravo.
Leeza Gibbons will continue to helm a second season of My Generation on Public TV. The season opens with an exclusive interview with Elton John and other guests throughout the year include Jane Fonda, Rita Moreno, Itzhak Perlman and Raquel Welch among others. Hallmark Movie Channel recently gained distribution in Southwest Virginia via Chatmoss Cablevision Inc. on the system’s basic tier. The additional distribution was enabled because the network experienced much local support from residents in the Smith Mountain Lake area in Southwest Virginia, the setting for Hallmark Movie Channel’s original film, Lake Effects premiering this Sunday at 8p. The film’s producers were also inspired to support the town through a giveback program involving donations to clean and restore the lake and preserve its history. Lake Effects stars Scottie Thompson, Jane Seymour and Madeline Zima among others.

Former Heroes star Adrian Pasdar is the latest actor to join USA Network’s summer series Political Animals. Pasdar will play the recurring role of President Paul Garcetti, the smart politician who defeated Elaine (Sigourney Weaver) in the presidential primary and then appointed her as Secretary of State. The drama debuts on USA July 15 at 10p and is produced by Berlanti Productions and Laurence Mark Productions in association with Warner Horizon Television.
Production commenced this week in Los Angeles on TBS’ new original comedy Sullivan & Son starring comedian Steve Byrne. The action is set inside a popular pub in a working-class neighborhood in Pittsburgh. Vince Vaughn and Peter Billingsley serve as EPs along with show-runner Rob Long. Sullivan & Son premieres on TBS July 19 at 10p and is produced by Wild West Picture Show Productions in association with Warner Horizon Television.
A trio of international actresses have joined Starz’ Spartacus for the show’s third season. Anna Hutchison and Gwendoline Taylor both are from New Zealand and will play Laeta, a privileged wife of a Roman dignitary and Sibyl, a beautiful young slave girl respectively and Australian actress Jenna Lind will play Kore, a dedicated slave to Marcus Crassus (Simon Merrells).
Newly-established Amazon Studios is delving into television development with original comedy and kids programming. Starting yesterday, the studio welcomes TV show creators to upload their TV proposals with the top ideas to be distributed via Amazon Instant Video and available for audience review. Amazon Studios’ TV efforts are led by Joe Lewis, formerly of 20th Century Fox and Comedy Central and Tara Sorensen, formerly of National Geographic Kids. Roy Price serves as Amazon Studios’ director.

Tuesday A18-49 Analysis: CBS opened the new month a winner Tuesday among A18-49 at 2.6/7, according to final primetime national ratings from Nielsen. At 8p, CBS’ NCIS was #1 at 3.1/10 followed by FOX’s Glee at 2.5/8. NBC’s The Voice won by a narrow margin during 9p at 3.1/8 and CBS’ NCIS: Los Angeles was a tenth of a rating point behind at 3.0/8. Then at 10p, ABC had a turn in first place with Private Practice at 2.1/6 and CBS’ Unforgettable and Univision’s La Que No Podia Amar tied for second position at 1.8/5 each.

Beginning May 7, David W. Sussman takes on the new role as SVP/Chief Legal Officer for the Content Distribution unit at NBCUniversal (NBCU). London-based multi-channel communications agency Blue Hive hired Karin Onsager-Birch as Executive Creative Director.
