As of yesterday, Lifetime unveiled its rebrand consisting of a new look, message, tagline and brand campaign across multiple platforms.  The network’s new logo and tagline is: Your Life. Competition series Tattoo School received a series order from TLC following the special that aired last summer.  The series watches as students are put through a two-week crash course in tattoo artistry in Louisiana.  Tattoo School debuts May 24 at 10p. 

A second season of Pregnant in Heels clicks into place on Bravo’s schedule beginning May 15 at 10p.  The new season continues to feature premier maternity concierge, Rosie Pope who guides wealthy expecting mothers in New York City through the joys and travails of pregnancy.  During the series’ first season in 2010, Pregnant in Heels delivered the youngest audience of any original series to-date for Bravo with a median age of 33.7.  Pregnant in Heels is produced by Hud:sun Media for Bravo. 

Leeza Gibbons will continue to helm a second season of My Generation on Public TV.  The season opens with an exclusive interview with Elton John and other guests throughout the year include Jane Fonda, Rita Moreno, Itzhak Perlman and Raquel Welch among others.  My Generation is presented by AARP Media in partnership with Maryland Public Television.

Season seven of Gene Simmons Family Jewels returns to A&E Network’s schedule starting May 28 at 9p with a one-hour special episode.  The series offers viewers up-close access to the rock star and his family.  The series is produced by Thinkfactory Media and the Gene Simmons Company.

Hallmark Movie Channel recently gained distribution in Southwest Virginia via Chatmoss Cablevision Inc. on the system’s basic tier.  The additional distribution was enabled because the network experienced much local support from residents in the Smith Mountain Lake area in Southwest Virginia, the setting for Hallmark Movie Channel’s original film, Lake Effects premiering this Sunday at 8p. The film’s producers were also inspired to support the town through a giveback program involving donations to clean and restore the lake and preserve its history.  Lake Effects stars Scottie Thompson, Jane Seymour and Madeline Zima among others.

Toronto-based Tricon Films & Television made various sales involving lifestyle series following MIPTV:  Bitchin’ Kitchen (29 eps/30m) sold season 1 to Cuisine + (France); Fresh with Anna Olson (65 eps/30m) seasons 1 through 3 to Living Channel (New Zealand); Building Bryks (8 eps/30m) sold to Maison + (France) and Sanoma TV’s Liv Channel (Finland); Marriage Under Construction (52 eps/30m) season 3 sold to Maison + (France) and season 4 to Sanoma TV’s Liv Channel (Finland); Green Force (39 eps/30m) seasons 1 through 3 to HSM’s Management TV (Argentina); House of Bryan (13 eps/30m) sold to TVA’s Casa channel (French Canada); Decked Out (27 eps/30m) season 1 to Canal Vie (French Canada) and to Ananey Channels (Israel) and season 2 to Home Channel (South Africa); Deck Wars (12 eps/60m) season 1 to Home Channel (South Africa); and LI TV VOD (Malaysia) has bought several shows including Family Renovation (23 eps/30m), Building Family (6 eps/30m), Deck Wars, Building Bryks, Decked Out and House of Bryan.

Sewee Entertainment was selected as the television distributor for The 2012 National Memorial Day Parade by the American Veterans Center in Washington, D.C.  This annual two-hour event is filmed live in Washington, D.C. on May 28 from 2-4p.  Through Sewee’s efforts, the parade has been cleared in several markets including WLNY/New York, WPSG/Philadelphia, Weigel in Chicago, FOX-owned WTTG/Washington, D.C., WBIN/Boston and more for live airings on May 28.

~ PRODUCTION & DEVELOPMENT ~

Former Heroes star Adrian Pasdar is the latest actor to join USA Network’s summer series Political Animals.  Pasdar will play the recurring role of President Paul Garcetti, the smart politician who defeated Elaine (Sigourney Weaver) in the presidential primary and then appointed her as Secretary of State.  The drama debuts on USA July 15 at 10p and is produced by Berlanti Productions and Laurence Mark Productions in association with Warner Horizon Television.

Production commenced this week in Los Angeles on TBS’ new original comedy Sullivan & Son starring comedian Steve Byrne.  The action is set inside a popular pub in a working-class neighborhood in Pittsburgh.  Vince Vaughn and Peter Billingsley serve as EPs along with show-runner Rob Long.  Sullivan & Son premieres on TBS July 19 at 10p and is produced by Wild West Picture Show Productions in association with Warner Horizon Television.

A trio of international actresses have joined Starz’ Spartacus for the show’s third season.  Anna Hutchison and Gwendoline Taylor both are from New Zealand and will play Laeta, a privileged wife of a Roman dignitary and Sibyl, a beautiful young slave girl respectively and Australian actress Jenna Lind will play Kore, a dedicated slave to Marcus Crassus (Simon Merrells). 

Newly-established Amazon Studios is delving into television development with original comedy and kids programming.  Starting yesterday, the studio welcomes TV show creators to upload their TV proposals with the top ideas to be distributed via Amazon Instant Video and available for audience review.  Amazon Studios’ TV efforts are led by Joe Lewis, formerly of 20th Century Fox and Comedy Central and Tara Sorensen, formerly of National Geographic Kids.  Roy Price serves as Amazon Studios’ director.

Tuesday A18-49 Analysis:  CBS opened the new month a winner Tuesday among A18-49 at 2.6/7, according to final primetime national ratings from Nielsen.   At 8p, CBS’ NCIS was #1 at 3.1/10 followed by FOX’s Glee at 2.5/8.  NBC’s The Voice won by a narrow margin during 9p at 3.1/8 and CBS’ NCIS: Los Angeles was a tenth of a rating point behind at 3.0/8.  Then at 10p, ABC had a turn in first place with Private Practice at 2.1/6 and CBS’ Unforgettable and Univision’s La Que No Podia Amar tied for second position at 1.8/5 each.

~ EXECUTIVE MOVES ~

Beginning May 7, David W. Sussman takes on the new role as SVP/Chief Legal Officer for the Content Distribution unit at NBCUniversal (NBCU).  David will oversee the legal strategy and business activities for the NBCU Content Distribution area that includes 18 national cable networks, 11 regional sports networks, NBC and Telemundo broadcast networks and associated properties across various platforms.  David will report to Matt Bond, EVP, NBCU Content Distribution and Rick Cotton, EVP/General Counsel, NBCU.   

Lauren Schneider was upped to VP/Media and Artists Relations with Island Def Jam Music Group (IDJMG).  Lauren will manage the PR activities for various artists and projects for the IDJ roster of labels.  Based in New York, Lauren reports to Laura Swanson, EVP/Media and Artists Relations, IDJMG.

London-based multi-channel communications agency Blue Hive hired Karin Onsager-Birch as Executive Creative Director.  Karin relocates to London to begin her new position mid-May, joining from San Francisco-based Goodby, Silverstein and Partners where she served as Creative Director.  At Blue Hive, she will work on the Global Team Ford account and report to Tony Grigg, CEO.
