Time Warner and its Time Inc. magazine publishing division are going their separate ways. While Time Warner will focus on its TV networks, film and TV production businesses, Time Inc. will become an independent, publicly traded company. Time Warner is aiming to complete this transaction by the end of the year, according to Time Warner CEO Jeff Bewkes. Time Inc. CEO Laura Lang will not continue as CEO of the new public company; however, she will stay on until a successor is found.
Fashion Finale: TLC‘s longest running primetime series What Not to Wear, the makeover show that became brand-defining for the network, is wrapping. “After 10 incredible seasons, we felt that it was the right time to end the series,” said Amy Winter, EVP and General Manager of TLC, noting that the show’s resident fashion experts, Stacy London and Clinton Kelly “have also become two of the most sought after fashion experts and TV personalities in the industry. We’re so proud to have had the two of them.” What Not to Wear will air its final episodes starting July 2013 on Friday nights at 10/9c.
Happy Ending producers Josh Bycel and Jonathan Fener have signed a two-year deal with NBC/Universal Television. As part of the pact, the pair will develop new projects for the studio. Their first foray? Executive producing on the NBC comedy pilot Assistance, based on the play of the same name by Leslye Headland. Bycel was previously showrunner for Scrubs; Fener on American Dad.

- ABC News Chief White House Correspondent Jonathan Karl and Chief Global Affairs Correspondent Martha Raddatz will be recognized with Walter Cronkite Awards for Excellence in Television Political Journalism.
Beyond Distribution has finalized deals throughout Iberia with Mediaset, RTVE, Multicanal and History Channel. The 150 hours of programming consists of key factual and crime series such as Love It or List It, World’s Weirdest Restaurants and Serious Crash Unit and the social documentaries The Vanishing Antarctic and Programmed To Be Fat?
Tricon Films & Television has announced the renewal of its talent competition series The Next Star for a sixth season. The network’s top rated series follows a group of hopefuls from across the country, aged 15 and under, as they vie for the title of The Next Star via an array of challenges that help them master their original sound, style and stage presence.
WIGS, the scripted drama YouTube channel from Jon Avnet and Rodrigo Garcia, has picked up two current shows, Blue and Lauren, for second seasons. Season two of Blue, written by Rodrigo Garcia and starring Julia Stiles as an upscale escort who is trying to hide her secret from her son, will debut on March 15 at 9pm ET with seven new episodes. The second season will feature 26 episodes in total, with the remaining batch becoming available on March 22, March 29, and April 5. Season two of Lauren, written by Jay Rodan and directed by Jon Avnet, will return with 12 new episodes sometime this spring. Lauren stars Jennifer Beals, Bradley Whitford, Mykelti Williamson, and YouTube star Justine Ezarik. WIGS will also premiere a new show this spring. Paloma, written and directed by Julia Stiles, will run for four episodes and centers on a young woman dealing with relationship issues in her personal and professional life. American Express and Unilever have signed on as presenting sponsor and associate sponsor, respectively, for WIGS.
Kelly Preston is set to star in the ABC pilot Keep Calm and Karey On. She’ll play the title character in this comedy about a mother trying to be the best parent she can be to three adopted children.
Anthony Head, who played as Giles on Buffy the Vampire Slayer, has been tapped to star in CW’s retooled drama pilot, The Selection. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Head will portray King Clarkson, the patriarch of the royal family that rules the nation in this show set 300 years in the future.
Derek Luke has joined the CBS drama pilot Second Sight, starring Jason Lee. He’ll play detective Paul Giroux.
Kurt Fuller has landed a co-starring role in the FOX pilot Friends and Family, based on the British comedy Gavin and Stacey. Fuller will play Gavin’s (actor Jason Ritter) gruff father, Michael. Kerri Kenney has been cast in the project, too, as Stacey’s mother (Alexis Bledel), Gwen.
Lyndon Smith, who has a recurring role in the CW’s 90210, has been cast in the ABC drama pilot, Reckless.
Joey Lawrence and Charissa Thompson have been signed to host ABC’s upcoming diving reality series Splash. The show debuts on March 19 at 8p.
ZEE Americas in partnership with Ethnic Channels Group Limited is launching Zee TV Canada on Shaw Cable which means that more than 94% of the South Asian Households in Canada will have access to Zee TV, South Asia’s top network. “This is an immense opportunity, as western Canada is home to more than thirty five percent of South Asian Canadians” said Sameer Targe, Business Head for ZEE Americas.

Tuesday A18-49 Analysis: FOX led Tuesday night among A18-49 viewers with a 3.5/10, according to final primetime national ratings from Nielsen. CBS opened the night strong at 8p with NCIS at 3.4/10, while FOX was a close second for that hour with American Idol at 3.3/10. FOX and American Idol owned the 9p hour with a 3.6/10. At 10p Univision’s Amor Bravio was the clear winner posting a 1.8/5, while Golden Boy on CBS finished second at 1.6/5.

Discovery Communications has announced the promotion of Eric Phillips to President, Domestic Distribution, effective immediately. A 10-year veteran of Discovery, Phillips most recently served as Executive Vice President, Domestic Distribution for the company. Phillips will lead day-to-day management of the Domestic Distribution division and oversee content distribution sales and marketing on behalf of Discovery’s U.S. networks.
Nena Rodrigue, former Executive Vice President and Executive Producer of Wolf Films, has been appointed Senior Vice President of Original Production and Development at Sundance Channel, effective immediately.
