British chef, author and TV personality Jamie Oliver attempts to bring his “Food Revolution” to the Los Angeles area when Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution debuts on ABC April 12 at 8p. The second season follows Oliver as he battles childhood obesity, heart disease and diabetes in the US and tries to work with the Los Angeles Unified School District, parents and teachers to change the lunch offerings inside the schools. The first season of the series, produced by Fresh One and Ryan Seacrest Productions was recently named a recipient of the Television Academy Honors coming up in May.
Veteran reality show Survivor gets two more editions from CBS for the 2011-2012 season. This renewal takes Survivor to its 23rd and 24th editions, making it television’s longest-running reality competition series. Additionally, Jeff Probst agreed to continue as host and executive producer for these next two new editions. This current edition, Survivor: Redemption Island is averaging 11.70 million viewers and a 3.4/10 rating/share among A18-49. Survivor originally premiered on CBS in May 2000 and is produced by SEG, Inc. with Mark Burnett, Jeff Probst and David Burris serving as executive producers.
Docu-reality series Setup Squad premieres on Logo April 25 at 1130p following the season finale of RuPaul’s Drag Race. Setup Squad, a one-hour series with ten episodes, follows a New York City dating agency specializing in professional “wing” women and men who transform their dating-challenged clients into confident daters. Leftfield Productions produces the series.
Current TV slated the premiere of its new docu-series 4th and Forever for May 26 at 9p with a one-hour episode. A preview of the first two episodes will also air May 23 at 10p. Following the premiere, the docu-series will air seven more half-hour episodes with all documenting the 2010 football season of Long Beach Polytechnic High School, affirmed by Sports Illustrated as the “Sports School of the Century.” Previously, Current TV had set the premiere for early April.
A second season of Shark Men opens with double episodes beginning April 10 at 9p on National Geographic Channel. The series chronicles the crew of the Ocean, a ship filled with high-tech equipment and anglers and shark experts as they study wild great whites. Shark Men, produced for NGC by Fischer Productions, switches to its normal time period of Sundays at 10p as of April 17.
The new season of Doctor Who opens with a two-part season premiere on BBC America when part one debuts April 23 at 9p. Matt Smith stars as the Doctor along with his companions Amy (Karen Gillan) and Rory (Arthur Darville). Alex Kingston also is back for this new season playing River Song.
OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network is moving two of its series to Sundays. Season 25: Oprah Behind The Scenes switches to 8p on Sundays for a two-part Australia episode airing March 27 and April 3. This series will remain on Sundays at 8p and will be joined by new series The Judds premiering April 10 at 9p. Furthermore, Oprah Presents Master Class will also air on Sundays at 9p on March 27 and April 3 as Winfrey reveals intimate details of her childhood and life.
MIPTV 2011:
The Television Syndication Company (TVS) made a deal with Berman Rummler Productions to represent the new reality series Remember Love as a presale or format. The series is available to US cable and worldwide.

Idris Elba is reprising his role as John Luther, the brilliant detective struggling with his own demons on the miniseries sequel to BBC America’s drama Luther. Written by Neil Cross, Luther is a BBC and BBC America co-production distributed by BBC Worldwide.
- Jeremy Sisto (Law & Order) landed the lead in the pilot Suburgatory, a single-camera comedy about a New York City teen (Jane Levy) who moves to a boring suburban community and realizes life there is much scarier. Sisto will play the role of George. Warner Bros. Television is producing with Emily Kapnek on board as writer and Michael Fresco as director.
- Arielle Kebbel (Vampire Diaries) cast in Marc Cherry’s drama pilot Hallelujah, playing the role of Veda Roman, per THR. Kebbel joins previously-announced cast mates Jesse L. Martin and Frances O’Connor. ABC Studios is producing with Cherry, who wrote the pilot episode, executive producing along with Sabrina Wind.
- Also for Hallelujah, former Lost star Terry O’Quinn joins the cast as Del. The drama is set in the town of Hallelujah, Tenn. which is being torn apart by forces of good and evil. The town regains hope when a mysterious stranger comes bringing justice, peace and a renewed faith.

Tuesday A18-49 Analysis: FOX led the pack Tuesday night among A18-49 with a 3.4/10, according to final national ratings from Nielsen. Glee on FOX was happy to be #1 at 8p with a 4.6/14 and NBC’s The Biggest Loser placed second at 2.7/8. NBC then moved to the front of the line during 9p with The Biggest Loser at 3.2/10 and the repeat of NCIS: Los Angeles on CBS was #2 at 2.6/7. At 10p, Telemundo was first with its newer novela La Reina del Sur at 1.5/4 while Univision’s Triunfo del Amor was a close second at 1.4/4.

As of yesterday, the NPR Board of Directors accepted the resignation of President/CEO Vivian Schiller, effective immediately. The Board has had a succession plan in place since 2009 which means Joyce Slocum, SVP/Legal Affairs and General Counsel will serve as Interim CEO. NPR’s Board will form an Executive Transition Committee to develop a process and timeframe for the recruitment of Vivian’s replacement. Board Chairman Dave Edwards said, “The Board accepted Vivian’s resignation with understanding, genuine regret and great respect for her leadership of NPR these past two years.”
James Knox hired as VP/UK Publicity at DDA Public Relations, effective immediately. In his new position, James will join the company’s executive board with oversight on growth strategies and development of DDA’s publicity department in the UK. James began with DDA in 2010 as Acting Director/UK Publicity. He will report directly to CEO Lawrence Atkinson and COO John Stannard.
FremantleMedia Enterprises (FME), the commercial and brand extension unit of FremantleMedia, has four executive staffing changes, effective immediately, within its North American licensing group:
- David Luner elevated to EVP/Consumer Products, Interactive and Mobile. David’s new job expands his current management of such brands as American Idol and The X Factor to now include the upcoming roster of new children’s content, licensed and original game brands as well as the digital content development division.
- Olivier Delfosse bumped to VP/Interactive, Mobile and Digital Content where he will manage the FremantleMedia’s continued expansion in the gaming arena, including social media gaming and more. Olivier reports to David Luner.
- Chris Donnan promoted to Director/Live Events to spearhead the production of touring shows and budgeting across all facets of FME’s live events including the traveling versions of shows such as The Price Is Right. Chris reports to Andy Felsher, FME SVP/Entertainment, Games, and Live Events.
- Dhivyah Ramanath added as Senior Manager/Consumer Products: Softlines responsible for the apparel, accessory and publishing businesses. Dhivyah reports to David Luner.
Warner Bros. International TV Production (WBITVP) added Adam Joy for the newly-minted position of VP/Business Development. Adam will supervise activities surrounding acquisitions, joint venturing and working with international production companies as WBITVP expands its production businesses outside the US. Adam will also be involved with implementing and negotiating transactions and coordinating transactions across operational divisions. Based in London, Adam will report to Alex Ogilvie, head of Business Development for both WBITVP and Warner Bros. International Television Distribution.
