  • Previously announced season finales of Cops and America’s Most Wanted slated for June 18 at 8p and 9p respectively.

New summer game show It’s Worth What? debuts July 12 at 8p on NBC.  Cedric the Entertainer hosts this show where contestants are led through a series of challenges as they attempt to find the value of items found in attics across America to earn a $1 million prize.  Merv Griffin Entertainment produces the series created by Roy Bank (Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?) and Lara Spencer (Antiques Roadshow and currently on Good Morning America).

Oprah Winfrey took her last bow on The Oprah Winfrey Show May 25 and the finale episode averaged 16.4 million total viewers, making it the most-watched episode in more than 18 years since February 15, 1993.  For the full week of May 23, The Oprah Winfrey Show averaged 9.9 million total viewers for the final three days and two repeat broadcasts.

Coverage of the 125th Wimbledon Tennis Championships in the UK will require special 3D glasses or access to a 3D TV.  Yesterday, BBC said it will launch its first-ever live 3D debut in the UK when it broadcasts the men’s and ladies’ finals on July 2-3.  BBC’s coverage is offered along with the All England Lawn Tennis Club and Sony Professional.  Also, some Wimbledon telecasts will be shown in several UK movie theaters and the BBC is presenting a limited number of 3D screenings free at www.bbc.co.uk/showsandtours.

DIY Network opens its second annual Crash Week with a surprise home makeover special, The Ultimate Crash: House, Bath, Yard debuting July 3 at 8p.  The network’s licensed contractors and hosts, Ahmed Hassan, Josh Temple and Matt Muenster take on a three-pronged makeover for a California couple in this one-hour original show.  The rest of Crash Week airs July 4-8 from 8p to 12a each night, showcasing several DIY Network experts as they travel the US in search of homeowners and their homes where they orchestrate “crash” renovations in new episodes of Yard Crashers, House Crashers and Bath Crashers.

~ DISTRIBUTION, CLEARANCE & CARRIAGE ~

TNT picked up the exclusive off-network cable rights to the ABC crime series Castle from Disney-ABC Domestic Television.  The first two seasons of Castle will premiere on TNT in summer 2012 and the network will also make the Castle episodes available online via mobile phones, tablets, computers and other devices.  ABC recently completed running the third season of Castle starring Nathan Fillion and Stana Katic.

Outdoor Channel launched Outdoor Channel HD via Comcast in the Great Lakes region of Michigan, effective immediately.

~ PRODUCTION & DEVELOPMENT ~

Laurence Fishburne departs CBS’ CSI after being on the drama for two and a half seasons.  He joined the series halfway in the ninth season replacing William Petersen.  Fishburne says he wants to focus more on his film career.  CBS Television Studios produces CSI which begins its 12th season in the fall.

Soap star Vanessa Marcil Giovinazzo exits ABC’s General Hospital with today being her last day on set.  Giovinazzo created the role of Brenda in 1992 and was off the show for eight years, returning last June.

Television personality Leeza Gibbons tapped to co-host America Now a daily news program premiering September 12 as a daily first-run series.  Gibbons and Bill Rancic helm the half-hour news show featuring short segments focused on such lifestyle topics as health and beauty, finance, family and home.  The show is from Raycom Media where it already runs as a weekend series on Raycom’s stations.  America Now is produced by ITV Studios America.

UK’s BBC is moving ahead with more Doctor Who, giving the cult hit an order for 14 new episodes starring Matt Smith as the time traveling righter of wrongs.  It is not been stated by the BBC yet how many new eps will air in the UK next year.

Docu-series Facing Trauma was ordered to a full season by Discovery Fit & Health, reports B&C.  Facing Trauma aired on the network last February as a back-door pilot and became the network’s highest rated original telecast since its launch.  Five new episodes were ordered to run this fourth quarter.  Park Slope Productions is the show’s production company highlighting the facial plastic and reconstructive surgery work of Dr. Anthony Jacano.  Each one-hour episode documents stories of two disfigured women who receive help from Dr. Jacano and his team as well as counseling with psychiatrist, Dr. Janet Taylor which allows them to rebuild their lives, physically and emotionally.

A new one-hour pilot, High Stakes Sweepers (wt) was approved by TLC featuring people who are passionate about entering sweepstake contests.  Production on the special pilot episode started this week and it will debut later this summer.  Authentic Entertainment, LLC is producing the pilot.
