Joseph Ianniello has been promoted to Chief Operating Officer of CBS Corporation. Ianniello had served as CFO since 2009. In his new role, he will continue to oversee all financial operations and work closely with President and Chief Executive Officer Leslie Moonves and senior management to maximize the monetization of the company content. In addition, he will also oversee negotiations for digital streaming, retransmission consent fees and reverse compensation from affiliates.

The epic saga of The Borgias is coming to an end. Showtime has canceled the series. Its third season finale, airing Sunday, June 16 at 10p, will now be its final episode. 

Conan O’Brien heads to Turner Classic Movies (TCM) this summer to host Carson on TCM. The new series features memorable Johnny Carson interviews from three decades of The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson. The show debuts Monday, July 1 at 8p.

Get ready for Hot in Cleveland live! TV Land is airing a special episode of the series, guest starring William Shatner and Brian Baumgartner, on Wednesday, June 19 at 10p. Shatner says he’s looking forward to sharing the screen with veteran star Betty White. “At long, long last, I am working with someone who is older than me,” he joked.

A battle of the sexes? The CW has announced the two-hour premiere of its first ever “Guys and Girls” edition of America’s Next Top Model on Friday, August 2 at 8p. The series is produced by 10 by 10 Entertainment in association with The Tyra Banks Company.

Spike TV‘s Ink Master is back for a third season on Tuesday, July 16 at 10p, as 16 top tattoo artists battle it out in permanent ink for a $100,000 grand prize, an editorial feature in Inked, and the title of Ink Master. For the first time this season, the show’s contestants will have a vote in the Elimination Tattoo, helping to determine which artist is sent home.

The fifth and final season of BBC America‘s supernatural series Being Human returns on Saturday, July 13 at 10p with three unconventional housemates: Vampire Hal (Damien Molony), Werewolf Tom (Michael Socha, Once Upon a Time) and Ghost Alex (Kate Bracken). The trio will navigate a turbulent world, searching for their lost humanity, while battling the Devil.

Keith Olbermann is heading back to television in October. The former Current and MSNBC anchor will lead TBS‘ studio coverage of the Major League Baseball post season in October.

It’s time for another marathon of The Twilight Zone. Syfy continues its Independence Day tradition of taking viewers to that fifth dimension beyond that which is known to man. The network is presenting the iconic Rod Serling series from 8a on Wednesday, July 4 through 6a on Thursday, July 5.

Let the cooking begin. Bravo‘s Top Chef Masters returns for a fifth season with 13 new award-winning chefs ready to compete for bragging rights, the title of Top Chef Master and $100,000 for their charity, on Wednesday, July 24 at 10p. In a new twist, each Master will have his or her sous chef compete in an online competition, Battle of the Sous Chefs. The results of each online battle directly impacts the Masters.

Oxygen Media‘s I’m Having Their Baby returns for its second season on Wednesday, June 12 at 10p. The series provides an intimate and emotional look at adoption through the eyes of the birth mother.

Speaking of Oxygen: Find Me My Man, which aired its season finale on Tuesday, was incorrectly attributed in our June 4 edition. The hit series is from Oxygen network.
 
Tyler Florence scours the US to help aspiring entrepreneurs realize their dreams of opening their own restaurant in the new Food Network series Food Court Wars. The show, produced by One Potato Two Potato, premieres Sunday, July 7 at 10p and will air on Sundays at 8p starting July 14. Each episode features two teams competing against each other for the chance to open a restaurant, rent-free, for one year in a mall food court.

The hosts for the 40th annual Daytime Emmy Awards have been named. HLN has announced that Good Morning America‘s Sam Champion will join HLN’s A.J. Hammer and Robin Meade to emcee the festivities on Sunday June 16 at 8pm ET. Hammer will also host the live red carpet special, Showbiz @ The Daytime Emmys, with HLN’s Christi Paul. Also, added to the list of of presenters are: Rachael Ray, Kathy Griffin and the cast of The Talk.

Entravision Communications Corporation, a diversified Spanish-language media company, has entered into a joint sales agreement with Seal Rock Broadcasters, LLC. Under the terms of the deal, Entravision will use its sales force within the market to provide marketing and sales services to Seal Rock Broadcasters’ KCBA-TV, the FOX affiliate located in Monterey, California. The effective date of the joint sales agreement is expected to be December 1, 2013.

Fasten your seatbelts. Arrow Media, one of the UK’s fastest-growing independent content creators, has been commissioned to make Terror in the Skies, a  our-part documentary series that will premiere on Channel 4 in the UK in June and on the Smithsonian Channel in the United States later this year. The series will feature user-generated content to explore why there are so many frightening near-misses in 21st century air travel. Terror in the Skies is produced by Arrow Media for Smithsonian Channel and Channel 4.

ITV has renewed Surprise Surprise for a second season. Made by ITV Studios, the 10-part series will be broadcast later this year.

~ CASTING NEWS ~

Justin Chatwin‘s stint as a series regular on Shameless has come to an end. Chatwin played Emmy Rossum’s Fiona’s on-again, off-again love interest on the Showtime series for three seasons. However, the actor may return for one or two episodes in season four.

Mexican television personality Poncho de Anda will host El Factor X, slated to premiere this summer on MundoFox. The new singing competition marks de Anda’s return to broadcast television. He will join previously announced judges Belinda and Chino & Nacho and Angelica Maria. El Factor X is a production by FremantleMedia Latin America for MundoFox.

~ INTERNATIONAL HAPPENINGS ~

CBS Studios International has announced a deal for the exclusive broadcast rights of Under the Dome with Channel 5 in the UK. The U.S.drama, which is produced by CBS Television Studios in association with Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Television, is based on Stephen King’s best-selling novel of the same name. It will air on Channel 5 in the fall.

Tuesday A18-49 Analysis:  NBC won the lead among A18-49 viewers on Tuesday with a 3.1/10, according to final primetime national ratings from Nielsen. NBC’s The Voice led the pack at 8p at 3.1/11. FOX’s So You Think You Can Dance placed second at 1.6/6. At 9p, NBC’s America’s Got Talent was #1 at 3.2/9, followed by Univision’s Amores Verdaderos at 1.8/5. NBC closed out the night on top at 10p with America’s Got Talent at 3.1/9. Telemundo’s Rumbo Al Mundial trailed 1.6/5.

~ EXECUTIVE MOVES ~

Russell Hampton has joined NBCUniversal as Executive Vice President of Franchise Management and Global Consumer Products for the Media Innovation and Cross Company Initiatives Group. Hampton, who last served as President of Disney Publishing Worldwide, is charged with developing an overarching strategy around the company’s licensing and merchandising efforts, working across NBCUniversal’s portfolio. He will also identify new potential growth opportunities, including driving digital product and IP development.

Spike TV has announced promotions and additions to its Original Series Team. Chris Rantamaki, formerly Vice President, Original Series, has been upped to Senior Vice President, Original Series. Rantamaki will oversee the day-to-day department activities relating to development and production. Justin Lacob, who previously served as Director, has been promoted to Vice President, Original Series. In his new role, Lacob will help develop the network’s scripted miniseries. Hayley Lozitsky, formerly Senior Vice President of Development at Ellen Rakieten Entertainment, has joined Spike TV as Vice President, Original Series. Kevin Bartel, formerly Vice President of Development and Current Programming for All3Media America, has joined Spike TV as Vice President, Original Series.

Marc Etkind has been promoted to General Manager, Destination America, effective immediately. In this newly expanded role, Etkind will lead all business strategy, programming, development, production and cross-platform promotion for the network.

The Weather Company has appointed Sandy Grushow to its board of directors. Grushow, a media advisor and investor with vast experience in traditional and digital media, is the former chairman of FOX‘s broadcast network and TV studio. In addition, Greg Blank has joined the board. Blank is a principal in Blackstone’s private equity group based in New York, where he focuses primarily on investments in the technology, media and telecommunications and industrials sectors.

As Seen on TV has bolstered its executive team with two industry veterans. Technology, research and operations specialist Henrik Sandell has been named Chief Operating Officer. Sandell last served as COO and CTO of the ID3 Institute with roots in Harvard and MIT. Andrew Kingston has been named Chief Legal Counsel and Head of New Business Development. Kingston previously served as general counsel to a number of public and private companies, including eDiets.com, Inc.

Hawthorne Direct has promoted Jessica Hawthorne-Castro to Chief Operating Officer. In her new position, she will focus on the company’s internal affairs, helping to shape the future direction of the agency by empowering department heads with additional duties and ensuring the efficiency and productivity of all inter-departmental efforts. Hawthorne-Castro previously served as Vice President of Operations and Client Services.

Meredith Margolis has joined StoreBoard Media LLC as Operations Associate. Margolis, formerly Account Operations Manager at Newspaper Space Buyers, will assist Director of Operations Caroline Kelso, as well as conduct office management and coordinate scheduling with the senior sales team.
