~ PRODUCTION & DEVELOPMENT ~

CBS may bring back cop drama Unforgettable with a 13-episode order for summer 2013.  Poppy Montgomery starred as a female detective who remembers everything except the day her sister was murdered.  CBS canceled the series in May as the network welcomed four other cop dramas to its schedule.  Nothing though has been officially announced by CBS.

FX and former star of Rescue Me Denis Leary are teaming on a new comedy pilot titled Bronx Warrants.  Leary will be executive producer along with former Rescue Me EP Jim Serpico.  Dean Lorey (Arrested Development) who created the project is also on board as an EP.  The comedy is about a group of errant detectives who serve outstanding warrants.  FX Productions is producing.

Los Angeles-based production and distribution studio, Gaumont International Television, also a part of the European-based motion picture studio Gaumont, is partnering with Nicolas Refn and Martha De Laurentiis to develop a series based on the character Barbarella.  The television series will be based on the character created by Jean-Claude Forest and made famous in the 1968 film of the same name starring Jane Fonda.  Refn will direct and serve as EP on the project with De Laurentiis.  Julien Forest and Jean-Marc Lofficier are co-EPs. Gaumont International Television is also in production on Bryan Fuller’s series Hannibal for NBC and the Eli Roth series Hemlock Grove for Netflix.

Show-runner and executive producer Michael Wilson (Saturday Night Live, Politically Incorrect) was signed by The Gersh Agency which will present his new guy-centric sketch comedy pilot The Men’s Room to networks.  The half-hour series was created by Wilson who is also EP.  The half-hour show features an ensemble cast including members of comedy troupes such as The Groundlings and Second city.

Previous 90210 star Lauren London is joining BET’s The Game for its sixth season as a series regular.  London will play Kiera, a former child star who is starring in a Cosby Show-like sitcom.

~ INTERNATIONAL HAPPENINGS ~

BBC One and The Jim Henson Company are co-producing a new puppet pilot titled at present No Strings Attached.  The weekly show will feature two celebrities who join the regular cast members in Muppet-style sketches and games.  Jim Henson’s son Brian will lead the puppetry team and executive produce the project along with his sister Lisa Henson.  Los Angeles-based Jim Henson’s Creature Shop created the puppets used in the show.

Canadian broadcaster Rogers Media acquired the ABC true-crime series Final Witness from Lincoln Square Productions for its Citytv network to air this summer.  Rogers Media will simulcast the limited seven-part series for its Citytv network on Wednesday night at 10p starting June 27.
