Selma Blair has exited FX comedy Anger Management. Amid reports that there was tension between Blair and the series’ star Charlie Sheen, Lionsgate, which produces the series, released the following statement: “We are confirming that Selma Blair will not be returning to ‘Anger Management’ and we wish her the very best.” Blair played Dr. Kate Wales, a therapist and regular bedmate of Sheen’s Charlie Goodson character.

~ MORE STUFF ~

E! is airing a Pretty Wild marathon on Friday, June 21 in celebration of the Sophia Coppola film Bling Ring being released the same day. Viewers will get to relive the much-buzzed about story first hand via a two-hour marathon of episodes that follow Alexis Neiers‘ alleged involvement in the ring during her time on the series and some of the early court proceedings. The marathon will air from 1 to 3p on E!.

Big Brother‘s new season, premiering Wednesday, June 26 at 8p on CBS, will feature two new twists. Instead of two houseguests being nominated for eviction each week, contestants will now nominate three. A second twist will allow viewers to cast votes for the houseguest they feel is playing the best game. The houseguest who receives the most votes will be anointed that week’s Big Brother MVP.The full scope of the MVP’s secret power will be revealed during the season premiere. America will be able to cast their votes for the first  MVP on Thursday, June 20, following CBS’ cast announcement of the new houseguests, at http://www.cbs.com/big_brother/.

OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network premieres new episodes of four primetime series this summer. Oprah’s Lifeclass returns on Sunday, July 7 at 9p with a special 90-minute episode focusing on the growing epidemic of fatherless sons in America. On Saturday, July 27 at 9p, Iyanla: Fix My Life debuts with five all-new episodes, as host Iyanla Vanzant travels to Atlanta, Georgia to help mend the volatile relationship between R&B recording artist Syleena Johnson and her mother. Welcome to Sweetie Pie‘s returns Saturday, July 27 at 10p, as  Miss Robbie and her son Tim debate the potential shutdown of their original Sweetie Pie’s restaurant location. Oprah: Where Are They Now? debuts on Sunday, July 28 at 10p and features a roster of guests, including Charlie Sheen‘s ex-wife, actress Denise Richards, Fab Morvan from Milli Vanilli, and Anna Nicole Smith‘s daughter Danielynn and Danielynn’s father Larry Birkhead.

Temple Street Productions has entered into a licensing partnership with Segal Licensing for the hit tween drama The Next Step.Under terms of the agreement, Segal will represent the brand in Canada, including merchandising, events and publishing rights. The series, which was recently greenlit for a second season by Canada’s Family Channel, debuted on March 8 to the networks’ largest premiere audience for any series, acquired or domestic.

Bloomberg Television presents a gathering of chef titans Mario Batali, Tom Colicchio, Rachael Ray and Bobby Flay on Tuesday, June 25 at 9p. Hosted by anchor Betty Liu at New York’s historic food landmark PJ Clarke’s, the foursome will talk candidly about how they built their empires, share their thoughts on each other’s brands, and discuss why they choose the products they endorse and what consumers can expect next.

The second season of ABC News and espnW‘s In the Game with Robin Roberts presented by Lexus will debut Thursday, June 20, online at abcnews.com and espnW.com, as well as on ESPN’s SportsCenter. In the Game, produced by espnW in partnership with ABC News, is a series of intimate interviews with top athletes in sports today. In the season premiere, Roberts sits down for a one-on-one with NASCAR driver Danica Patrick.

Save the date! The annual Cynopsis: Sports Business Summit is set to take place on Aug. 14 in NY, and will feature some of the biggest names in sports today. In addition, we are holding our Women of Action cocktail event celebrating and discussing the impact women are having in the sports industry the night before, on August 13.

James Gandolfini, who played mobster Tony Soprano on The Sopranos, has died of an apparent heart attack while vacationing in Rome at the age of 51 according to HBO.

The duo and Perceptual Networks have announced the launch of At First Sight, a new dating app that uses video profiles to help members make genuine connections. It’s available now on iOS and Android.

ABC Family‘s new drama series The Fosters will feature the new hit single Live It Up from Jennifer Lopez on Monday, June 24 at 9p. Lopez serves as executive producer on the series. 

 ~ PRODUCTION AND DEVELOPMENT NEWS ~

ITV is acquiring a controlling stake in Thinkfactory Media, a leading US producer of reality, entertainment and drama, including the Emmy award-winning Hatfields & McCoys. ITV will pay $30m for a 65% stake in Thinkfactory Media, with a put and call option to buy the remaining 35% of the company. Thinkfactory Media will join ITV’s growing family of production businesses in the US, including Gurney Productions and High Noon Entertainment. Its portfolio includes R&B Divas, Preachers’ Daughters, Marriage Bootcamp: Bridezillas and The Hook-Up, as well as an in development drama miniseries Texas Rangers for the History Channel. Other new scripted programs include Hit Men for Spike and pilot Whitey for A+E Networks.

Logo has ordered 22 episodes of the new scripted soap The Vines of Sauvignon Blanc to be produced solely on Twitter’s micro-video sharing app, Vine. Clocking in at six seconds per episode, the show’s entire season will play out in just over two minutes. This marks the first time Vine has been used to create a soap opera for a television network. Catch the premiere of the first four episodes of  The Vines of Sauvignon Blanc on Logo’s Vine account  today. New episodes will roll out each weekday at 1p.

~ CASTING NEWS ~

Loretta Devine of The Client List and Peggy Lipton, remembered from The Mod Squad, have been tapped to guest star on the eighth season of USA comedy Psych. Both actresses will appear in the series’ fifth episode. Devine will portray Melba Birdson, a former back-up singer for 1960s sensation Myles Valour Jr. Lipton will play Scarlet Jones, former main squeeze of mob boss Rodney Caruso.

Tuesday A18-49 Analysis:  ABC won the lead among A18-49 viewers on Tuesday with a 3.9/12, according to final primetime national ratings from Nielsen. NBC’s America’s Got Talent led at 8p at 3.0/9. Univision’s Porque El Amor Manda placed second at 1.8/6. At 9p, ABC’s NBA Finals was #1 at 6.0/17, followed by NBC’s The Voice at 4.4/12. ABC closed out the night on top at 10p with the NBA Finals at 7.9/22. NBC’s The Voice trailed at 4.5/12.

~ EXECUTIVE MOVES ~

Glenn Geller has been promoted to Executive Vice President, Current Programming for the CBS Network Television Entertainment Group. Geller, formerly Senior Vice President of Current Programming, will oversee a newly combined programming department that supports both CBS Entertainment and CBS Television Studios. David Brownfield, who had been head of CBS Entertainment’s current programming department since 2004, has signed a development deal with CBS Television Studios and will begin working on the 2014-2015 broadcast season immediately.

Nightline anchor Terry Moran has been named London-based Anchor and Chief Foreign Correspondent at ABC News. As Moran makes the move abroad later this summer, he will continue to contribute to coverage of landmark Supreme Court decisions. Dan Abrams, currently a contributor on Good Morning America, is expanding his role, becoming a Nightline anchor and Chief Legal Affairs Anchor for ABC News. He will also contribute to ABC’s The Lookout.

Alphonso Van Marsh has been named Correspondent for News Services at CBS News, the network’s 24-hour television newsgathering service for CBS stations and broadcasters around the world; effective immediately. He will be based in London. Marsh formerly spent a decade reporting for CNN.

Hawthorne Direct, a full service brand response advertising agency, has named Kathi Moore as Vice President and Account Director. Moore last served as Direct Response Consultant with Hi Life Health and Beauty, in Sydney, Australia.

Talent Partners, the leader in talent and production support services for more than 750 agency and advertiser clients, has tapped Sue Renaldo as Director of Operations. A 25 year industry veteran, Renaldo will champion the company forward and enrich its operational excellence model increasingly on the global stage.

UP, America’s uplifting family entertainment channel, has appointed Nancy Cohen as Senior Vice President, Ad Sales. Cohen, a long-time cable sales executive, previously served as Director at NBCU Sales since 2010.
