New docu-series I’m Having Their Baby will premiere July 23 at 11p on Oxygen.  The new six-part series goes inside the world of adoption by relating the perspective of the birth mother and her difficult and emotional choice.  Each episode profiles two pregnant women who have chosen to place their babies up for adoption and follows them as they make life-changing decisions.  I’m Having Their Baby is produced by Hud:sun Media.

Lionsgate’s pot-centric series Weeds on SHOWTIME will end following the next upcoming eighth season set to premiere July 1 at 10p.  Helmed by Mary-Louise Parker, playing suburban soccer mom-turned-marijuana queenpin, Nancy Botwin, Weeds will have 13 episodes for its final season.  Additionally, the 11th episode of the new season will mark the series’ 100th ep.  Weeds originally debuted on August 7, 2005.

~ PRODUCTION & DEVELOPMENT ~

NBC approved its first pilot for next season, a soap thriller from Jerry Bruckheimer.  The project is based on the book The Secret Lives of Husbands and Wives by Josie Brown and Bruckheimer will serve as EP as part of his deal with Warner Bros. Television.  Sascha Penn will adapt the book for the small screen and be an EP with Bruckheimer Television’s Jonathan Littman.  KristieAnne Reed will also co-executive produce the project that was originally in development at ABC.

British chef Jamie Oliver will executive produce a new cooking competition series, Chef Race UK vs US gearing up to premiere this fall on BBC America.  The new original unscripted series with ten one-hour episodes follows sixteen chefs – eight Brits versus eight Americans as they race across the US from Los Angeles to New York City attempting to win the $100,000 prize.  Michelin-starred London restaurateur Richard Corrigan will serve as mentor and judge and the show is hosted by Claire Robinson.  The chef-testants will have no money and minimal resources and will have to rely on their cooking skills.  Chef Race: UK vs US is a BBC America original series produced by Jamie Oliver’s Fresh One Productions.

Arrested Development actress Portia de Rossi is joining NBC’s The Munsters re-make titled Mockingbird Lane in the role as Lily, the Munster family matriarch.  She will join Jerry O’Connell who was recently cast as Herman Munster.  Mockingbird Lane is from Bryan Fuller and Bryan Singer.  NBC’s remake is described as a darker one-hour drama compared to the classic comedy The Munsters where Yvonne De Carlo originated the role of Lily in the 1960s version.  De Rossi is also on tap to reprise her role of Lindsay Funke in Netflix’s revival of the FOX comedy Arrested Development.

Casting Call: A major cable network and an Emmy Award-winning production company are searching nationwide for the real-life version of Two and a Half Men.  Are you brothers raising a kid or kids in the same household?  Are you two straight guys raising kids and trying to date and do it all?  Do you think your family is ready to be featured in a TV show?  If so, send an email to: [email protected] and include a brief description of your family, where you live, in what ways are you similar to the scripted TV comedy and also include photos of your family members and a phone number where casting can reach you.

~ INTERNATIONAL HAPPENINGS ~

Nordic World reports several deals involving three of its top formats: Jailhouse Cook with eight 45-minute episodes and produced by Denmark’s Koncern has been optioned for the US by Sander/Moss Productions; Norway by Monster/NICE Group; and Germany by Endemol.  The series Missing with five 45-minute episodes and produced by Denmark’s Dokumentarkompagniet has been optioned for Norway by TV2 and Sweden by Mastiff/Zodiak.  The third series The Correspondents from TV2 Danmark with six half-hour episodes has been optioned for Norway by TV 2 and Sweden by TV4 with a deal pending in France.
