CYNTHIA TURNER’S
Cynopsis: Kids!
07/06/06
Good morning. It’s Thursday, July 6, 2006 and this is your first early morning Kids! briefing.
NEW PRODUCTION & DEVELOPMENT
Indie production/distribution company Off the Fence has entered into a co-production deal with Bonne Pioche, another indie production company who was behind the movie March of the Penguins. The first effort under the deal will be The Mole, a 1hr documentary about the lives of the industrious little builders.
Doctor Who is getting a new side-kick in the BBC’s current incarnation of the live-action sci-fi series. Freema Agyeman has been cast in the role of Martha Jones, the good Doctor’s new companion in the upcoming third season. Jones takes over for the current adventuring aide Rose Tyler, played by Billie Piper, who announced her departure from the show last month. For the many avid fans of the series, Agyeman recently appeared in an episode of the show, tho not as Martha but rather as another character named Adeola. No worries though, because the producers and writers took care of that potentially confusing and untidy to do when, at the end of the episode Adeola met with an untimely end. As for Rose’s fate? Well, I couldn’t say. Produced by BBC Wales for BBC One, the new season (13 episodes) and a holiday special will begin filming in Cardiff this summer.
