Animated sitcom American Dad renewed by FOX for a seventh season through the 2012-2013 season.  American Dad, produced by 20th Century Fox Television, airs on FOX Sundays at 730p. 

In time for Britain’s Royal Wedding, Lifetime Television scheduled the world premiere of its Original Movie William & Kate on April 18 at 9p.  Directly following the movie, Lifetime debuts the one-hour docu-series Royal Wedding of a Lifetime at 11p.  The six-part series chronicles the romantic history of Prince William and Kate Middleton and also reveals the wedding preparations including the bridal gown and other fashions worn by Kate, the wedding cuisine and a preview of the actual event.  After its initial episode, Lifetime will air subsequent episodes of Royal Wedding of a Lifetime from 8p to 11p on April 21 and April 22. William & Kate is produced by The Konigsberg Company while docu-series Royal Wedding of a Lifetime is produced by Renegade Pictures (UK) LTD.

~ DISTRIBUTION, CLEARANCE & CARRIAGE ~

NBC Sports Group struck a deal with the New York Racing Association for the rights to air the Belmont Stakes, the last major annual horse racing event in the Triple Crown.  NBC holds the television rights to air the Kentucky Derby and the Preakness Stakes since 2001 and with this new deal extension will begin airing the Belmont Stakes this spring through 2015.  Last year, the Kentucky Derby attracted 16.5 million viewers, the most since 1989. 

Sky Angel, provider of inspirational and family-friendly television and radio content, picked up four hi-def networks from Entertainment Studios, Inc. for its national channel lineup.  Sky Angel acquired Entertainment Studios’ Cars.TV, MyDestination.TV, Pets.TV and Recipe.TV

~ PRODUCTION & DEVELOPMENT ~

Actress/television personality La La Vazquez is readying a new docu-series for VH1 this summer relating her life following marriage to NBA Forward Carmelo Anthony who is now playing for the New York Knicks.  La La’s Full Court Life (wt) is in production now and is slated to premiere in August with 10 half-hour episodes.  VH1 had previously aired the special, La La’s Full Court Wedding featuring the couple which will air again on the network this Sunday at 7p and at 11p.  During those broadcasts, Vazquez will participate in a live chat with VH1 via Twitter.  La La’s Full Court Life is produced by 51 Minds Entertainment, an LLC Endemol Company as well as Krossover Entertainment and The Collective.

Jenna Elfman, best known for her starring role in Dharma & Greg, is in negotiations with ABC to helm the network’s single-camera comedy pilot Bad Mom.  The plot is about single mom Julia (Elfman) whose two kids have been largely raised by their grandmother.  When “Nana” decides she has had enough, Julia must step back in her kids’ lives and be the parent. 

CBS tapped Adam Goldberg (Saving Private Ryan) for its edgy cop drama pilot, Rookies executive produced by Robert De Niro, cites EW.  The plot centers on six NYPD rookies who are learning the ropes and trying to balance their private lives.  Goldberg will play Lazarus, a laid-off reporter who becomes a rookie cop and retains his good intelligence connections.  Richard Price and Jane Rosenthal are also serving as executive producers.  

Casting Call: VH1 and SuicideGirls are seeking female dancers who possess lots of personality for a new documentary-style television show from the creators of America’s Next Top Model and CSI.  Producers are looking for independent, dynamic, strong and edgy female dancers who are 18+, have a background in dance and who are eligible to work full-time in the US.  Women sporting tattoos and piercings with experience in burlesque, aerial arts or any other unique skills are welcome.  Open casting calls will begin in Las Vegas this Saturday; send an email to: [email protected].  Two additional open casting calls will happen in New York City on March 5; send an email to: [email protected] and also in Los Angeles on March 8; send an email to: [email protected].

Saturday A18-49 Analysis:   FOX led a winning double punch Saturday night at 1.7/6 with the A18-49 demo, according final national ratings from Nielsen.  At 8p, FOX’s two Cops episodes averaged a 1.7/6 in first place and ABC’s Wipeout repeat was next at 1.0/4.  FOX retained the same top ratings through 9p as AMW: America Fights Back posted a 1.7/6 and ABC placed second with its Movie of the Week at 1.1/4.  ABC edged into #1 at 10p with the last hour of its Movie of the Week at 1.3/4 while CBS’ 48 Hours Mystery was #2 at 1.2/4.

Sunday A18-49 Analysis:  FOX held a slim lead Sunday night at 2.4/7 A18-49, according to final national ratings from Nielsen.  Starting out, ABC won the 7p hour with America’s Funniest Home Videos at 1.9/6 followed closely by FOX’s The Simpsons rerun and American Dad averaging a 1.8/6.  The season premiere of The Amazing Race on CBS topped at 8p with 2.5/7 though just a tenth of a rating point in front of ABC’s Extreme Makeover: Home Edition and the average of FOX’s The Simpsons and Bob’s Burgers delivering 2.4/7 each.  ABC was back in the winner’s seat at 9p with Desperate Housewives at 3.1/8 trailed by FOX’s Family Guy and The Cleveland Show with an average of 2.9/8.  Then at 10p, CBS’ CSI: Miami and NBC’s SNL: Backstage tied for #1 at 2.2/6 apiece while ABC’s Brothers & Sisters was next in line at 1.9/5.

Former Nielsen Chief Human Resources Officer Roberto Llamas hired by Univision Communications Inc. as EVP/Chief Human Resources Officer.  Roberto is based in New York City and reports to Joe Uva, President/CEO.

Camilla Carpenter elevated to SVP/Strategy and Network Operations for Discovery Channel.  Camilla’s new expanded duties has her working closely with Edward Sabin, Group COO for Discovery and TLC Networks to establish annual and long-term strategic plans, hone in on critical business matters, analyze deal strategies and work with Commerce and Licensing divisions among other functions.  Camilla, who also reports to Edward Sabin, will supervise all facets of third party partnerships and will be the point person on all business issues related to Discovery Networks International.

Nicole A. Bernard advanced to SVP/Audience Strategy for The Fox Group.  Nicole for the last six years has served as SVP/Broadcast Standards and Practices for FOX.  In her new role, Nicole will report to Kevin Reilly, President/Entertainment, FOX.  Furthermore, Elizabeth Casey, SVP/Business and Legal Affairs, Broadcast Standards and Practices with Fox Cable Networks promoted to EVP/Standards and Practices for the Fox Networks Group (FNG) where she will continue to report to Rita Tuzon, General Counsel, FNG.
