Good morning. It’s Thursday, February 22, 2007 and this is your first early morning Kids! briefing.

Snowvision.com, a broadband video destination for snowboarders, was launched by Diversion Media, its second niche-oriented video site. Snowvision’s features include personalized weather feeds and resort data, a Flash-based video player with a drag-and-drop interface and coverage of major snowboarding events. Beginning March 1st, a “sponsor me” section debuts, geared to help boarders find a sponsor. Diversion Media was founded by Nicholas Butterworth, former CEO of MTV Interactive Group and Tatum Lade, former head of technology at iFilm.

NEW PRODUCTION & DEVELOPMENT

Discovery Kids Latin America has completed a deal with TV PinGuim, a Brazilian animation studio, to co-produce the series Fishtronaut (52×11′).  The series, which is currently in development, will be digitally produced in 2D animation and follows the adventures of Fishtronaut, a secret agent fish, and his best friends, a little girl and a young monkey, as they unravel mysteries and find solutions all revolving around protecting the environment.  Slated to launch on Discovery Kids channel across Latin America from 2008, Fishtronaut was created and developed by TV PinGuim’s Kiko Mistrorigo and Celia Catunda.  The production will also involve the support of Vivavision, a Canadian animation company, and funds from Ancine’s article 39. 

MORE KIDS STUFF

Starz Kids & Family will feature a special airing of Eloise in Hollywood Sunday, March 11 at 6p, two days prior to its release on DVD on March 13.  Additionally, the channel will offer a look at the series including interviews with Mary Matilyn Mouser, the voice of Eloise, and with Liza Minnelli, the godchild of Eloise creator Kay Thompson. Liza is said to have been the inspiration for the character.  Simon & Schuster Children’s published Eloise in Hollywood in October 2006.  The Eloise animated series and DVDs are produced by Film Roman, a Starz Media company, in association with Handmade Films.

The music video for Hollywood Records’ recording artists Jonas Brothers song Kids of the Future, will make its US TV premiere on Disney Channel on Friday, March 2, 2007 at 9p (following Cory in the House).  Kids of the Future is featured in the new Disney animated movie Meet the Robinsons.  Leading up the music video debut on the channel’s Friday night premieres (7-9p) will be new episodes of Hanna Montana, Cory in the House, That’s So Raven and The Suite Life of Zack & Cody.

The third season of the live-action comedy Zoey 101 will premiere on Canada’s Family Channel on Friday, March 16 at 6p, the series’ regular time period.  The network will offer a broadband preview of the first the episode of the new season of Zoey 101, which is comprised of 13×30′ new episodes, on www.family.ca where it will be streamed from Friday, March 9 at 4p through Wednesday, March 14 at 9p.  Created and executive produced by Dan Schneider, Zoey 101 is produced by Nickelodeon, Schneider’s Bakery and ApolloProScreen.

As many ready themselves for this Sunday night’s Academy Awards ceremony, others are preparing for the American Anime Awards that will be handed out this Saturday, February 24, in NYC.  Since you have missed your chance to get tickets to the Anime Awards, and you have – it is sold out, you’re in luck because IGN.com, the gaming/entertainment site, will host a “live look-in” webcast from the event beginning Saturday at 9p ( http://tv.ign.com/animeawards2007/ ).  That should keep fans until the entire American Anime Awards ceremony, which is hosted by New York Comic Con, is broadcast March 23 on Anime Network.

MARKETING/LICENSING

BKN International AG and Digital Music Group (DMGI) have entered into a deal under which DMGI will handle all US and Canadian digital rights for BKN’s current and forthcoming movies and series.  DMGI will expand BKN’s properties into new stores, specifically online retailers including iTunes, Google Video, RealNetworks, Napster and Yahoo!  The pact includes BKN series such as Legend of the Dragon, Dork Hunters from Outer space and Zorro  Generation Z, and movies like Jungle Book  Rikki-Tikki-Tavi to the Rescue, Robin Hood  Quest for the King, and Kong  Return to the Jungle.

EXECUTIVE MOVES

Scott Gramling joins Wizard Entertainment as the new Editor-in-Chief of Wizard. Gramling will be responsible for continuing to build circulation and awareness of the Wizard brand and overseeing content for all publications Wizard, InQuest Gamer, ToyFare and Anime Insider, in addition to the website (wizarduniverse.com) and The Wizard World Tour.  His appointment marks Gramling’s return to Wizard, where 12-years ago he began as an associate editor.  Most recently Gramling served as Sections Editor, Deputy Editor and Editor-In-Chief at FHM.  Previously, he was the Associate Editor of Sports Illustrated For Kids’ book division
