~ PRODUCTION & DEVELOPMENT ~

NBC okayed the single-camera comedy pilot Friends With Benefits from 20th TV and Imagine TV and written by Scott Neustadter and Michael Weber. ABC had previously picked up the project last September with a script commitment plus penalty, though decided to pass on the pilot. NBC quickly picked up the comedy about five friends who are each looking for their life partner while in the meantime settling for “friends with benefits.” Neustadter and Weber are executive producing with Brian Grazer and David Nevins.

The CW granted a presentation order for an action-adventure drama titled Nomads from executive producer Ken Sanzel (Numbers). The project follows a group of young backpackers, who have very little money, as they travel the globe and agree to work on secret missions for the CIA. CBS Studios, Warner Bros. Television and Scott Free Productions are producing with Ridley Scott, Tony Scott and David Zucker executive producing. Sanzel is penning the script and directing the pilot.

Eugene Levy (Greg the Bunny, American Pie movies) landed a co-starring role in Hitched, the multi-camera comedy pilot from Josh Schwartz for CBS. The project is about a 20-something newlywed couple who, with their family and friends close by, are still finding out about each other. Levy will play the groom’s dad who has been married four times. Warner Bros. Television is producing.

Casting Call: A new competition series for the Logo Network is seeking floral, plant and garden artists who possess personality-plus. The show will consider male and female professionals or those with a special artistic flair for gardening and landscaping. The winner of the competition will receive the #1 Floral Designer title and a large grand prize. Applicants should send an email to [email protected] and include name, age, occupation, your city/town and why you would be great on the show. Also include a recent photo and your contact numbers.
