Tonight’s Finales: Comcast will not be able to finalize its merger with NBC Universal as planned by the end of this month. The deal completion process will extend into 2011, though no date has been specified. A memo was sent to NBCU staffers yesterday from outgoing NBC Chief Executive Jeff Zucker saying that regulatory approval of the transaction has been delayed. The issue at hand concerns the concessions Comcast will have to accept in order to gain approval from the Department of Justice and the FCC. The FCC is preparing its order for the deal, perhaps even yet this week, and it will outline unspecified conditions with the goal to protect consumers. CBS unveiled premiere dates of new midseason series (new series in bold):
Additionally, CBS announced the following time period changes for its midseason lineup:
Investigation Discovery premieres the new series Stolen Voices, Buried Secrets on January 10 at 10p. The series offers the victim’s perspective through fictionalized, first-person narration based on facts from real-life criminal cases. Investigation Discovery will air two half-hour episodes back-to-back during the first two weeks of the series’ run from 10-11p. Sirens Media produces for Investigation Discovery. Golf Channel tees up its original series The Haney Project for a third season premiering January 11 at 9p. In this new eight-episode season, talk radio host Rush Limbaugh is the featured celebrity as he works on his golf game under the guidance of Tiger Woods’ former swing coach Hank Haney. The Haney Project is produced by Golf Channel in association with The WorkShop, LLC.
