~ PRODUCTION & DEVELOPMENT ~

Mark Gordon, executive producer of ABC’s dramas Grey’s Anatomy and Private Practice sold a duo of comedies to ABC through his deal with ABC Studios:

  • Stuck in Reverse is about a father who has a near-death experience and then desires to reconnect with his adult kids.  Gordon and the Mark Gordon Co.’s Andrea Shay will executive produce along with writer Scott King.
  • Generation Ex focuses on second marriages and co-parenting with writer Moe Jelline on board.
  • Previously, Gordon sold a family soap project titled Americana set in the world of fashion also to ABC.

CBS approved a pair of projects from NCIS and NCIS: Los Angeles executive producer Shane Brennan.  One project, tentatively titled King & Maxwell is an adaptation of the novel series King and Maxwell by David Baldacci about two former Secret Service agents who become private investigators.  Brennan will write the pilot.  The second project is a medical drama titled Cure from writer Jonathan Hawley about a traveling team of doctors who tackle strange medical cases around the country in hopes of finding a cure for a reclusive billionaire’s terminally ill child.

Comic series The Damned from writer Cullen Bunn and published by Oni Press is being adapted for the small screen by Showtime, cites THR.  The comic series is set in Chicago during the prohibition period about Eddie, a damned man who rises from the dead.  Showtime’s adaptation will take the storyline to modern times.  Showtime also is developing a half-hour comedy titled Chew based on the comic series by John Layman and Bob Gillory about a cop who is able to solve crimes by taking a bite out of victims.

HBO’s Game of Thrones tapped British actor Patrick Malahide (The World is Not Enough, Billy Elliot) for the second season to play Balon Greyjoy.  The character is Theon’s strict father, the ruler of the Iron Islands.

Veteran sci fi actress Kate Mulgrew joins Syfy’s Warehouse 13 for a four-episode run in the third season beginning next Monday at 9p.  Mulgrew plays “Jane” a Regent of Warehouse 13 who becomes integral in the survival of the Warehouse while at the same time revealing a complicated past with one of the agents.
