Anheuser-Busch and Major League Baseball Properties locked in a six-year sponsorship renewal that makes Budweiser as the Official Beer Sponsor of Major League Baseball. As part of the deal, Anheuser-Busch will boast exclusive rights to use the MLB marks and logos and will serve as presenting sponsor of MLB Opening Week and the Player of the Month awards, and Budweiser will be a presenting sponsor of the MLBFanCave.com Concert Series. The deal also calls for Budweiser to serve as presenting sponsor of the first-ever Wild Card Games, set for Oct. 5.

FOX Sports Media Group revealed the college football schedule for more than a dozen Big 12 college football matchups set to air on FX, FOX Sports Networks (FSN), FOX Sports Southwest (FSSW) and FOX College Sports (FCS). Games kick off on Saturday, Sept. 1 at noon on FX with a WVU and Marshall battle that marks West Virginia’s first game as a member of the Big 12 Conference. The channel’s game in week two will pit Miami (FL) at Kansas St. on Sept. 8, followed by TCU/Kansas on Sept. 15. Meanwhile, FSN opens with Tulsa/Iowa St. at 3:30p on Sept. 1, FCS offers Savannah St./Oklahoma St. while FSSW Plus begins the season with Northwestern St./Texas Tech with both games set for 7p.
ESPN’s 2013 ACC men’s college basketball regular-season schedule will feature 106 conference games across ESPN, ESPN2 and ESPNU as well as the ESPN3 simulcasts of syndicated matchups. Other non-conference games to be broadcast have yet to be determined. Action begins on Jan. 5 with Wake Forest/Duke on ESPNU at noon, while Virginia Tech/Maryland will play at the same time on ESPN3 and ACC Network. At 2:30p, ESPN3 and ACC Network will feature Miami/Georgia Tech. At 4p, ESPN2 showcases NC State/Boston College while ESPN3 and Raycom offer Florida St./Clemson.
New international sports channel beIn SPORT announced that it has locked in exclusive rights to televise the away games for the U.S. men’s national soccer team in the qualifying rounds of the 2014 World Cup. The network will kick-off coverage of the U.S. team’s hunt with two CONCACAF World Cup qualifying matches. The first live televised game will feature U.S. facing Jamaica on Sept. 7 from National Stadium in Kingston, Jamaica. The U.S. team will then face off against Antigua & Barbuda on Oct. 12 from Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in North Sound, Antigua. In addition, beIN SPORT secured exclusive rights to the home and away games of all the other national soccer teams participating in CONCACAF World Cup qualifying competition, with the exception of Mexico.
Longhorn Network open the college football season with two consecutive home football games in 2012. The Texas season opener against Wyoming will air live on Saturday, Sept. 1 at 8p, while the game against New Mexico will run the following Saturday at 8p. ESPN football analyst Ray Bentley and ESPN play-by-play announcer Mark Neely will call the action. In addition, the channel will also televise two Texas State University home football games with the first on Sept. 29 against Nevada and the second against Louisiana Tech on Nov. 10.
NBC Sports Network announced that the next edition of docu-series Caught Looking will air Thursday night at 9p and feature a behind-the-scenes look at this past weekend’s series between the Tampa Bay Rays and Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. Major League Baseball Productions had camera crews embedded with both teams throughout the four-game series. In addition, on November 8, NBC Sports Network announced that it will air a special postseason episode of Caught Looking which will feature the two teams playing in the 2012 World Series.
ESPN is set to offer a week-long, cross-platform series, Football at a Crossroads, starting tomorrow. The series will examine health issues surrounding football at all levels of the sport with content included on ESPN’s Outside the Lines and SportsCenter, as well as ESPN.com and ESPN The Magazine.
MLB on FOX returns on Saturday at 3:30p, led by a Braves/Giants matchup with play-by-play announcer Kenny Albert joining Tim McCarver in the broadcast booth. The game will be carried in 55% of the country. Other matchups will include Cardinals/Reds in 24% of the nation and Twins/Rangers in 20%.
The WTA unveiled the organization’s new Strong Is Beautiful Celebrity Campaign, with material that features celebrities that include Aretha Franklin, Susan Sarandon, Sir Richard Branson, Donald Trump, Stanley Tucci; Randy Jackson; and Rory McIlroy – all touting their love of women’s tennis. Of course, tennis stars like Maria Sharapova and Serena Williams are also involved in the promotion. The new campaign is designed to be an extension of the WTA’s current Strong Is Beautiful global advertising campaign, launched in 2011, that focuses on each celebrity’s personal achievements and past experiences.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. has been named the winner of the Drive for the Cover campaign to grace the cover of the upcoming NASCAR The Game: Inside Line video game. The driver narrowly beat out Kasey Kahne in the final round of voting for the game, which is slated to be released on Nov. 6.
PGATOUR.com, the official site of the PGA TOUR, is set to tee off coverage of the 2012 PGA TOUR Playoffs for the FedExCup with exclusive online and mobile access that includes 100 hours of live video streaming for fans as well as live preview shows and comprehensive editorial coverage. Coverage begins today with The Barclays and wraps up on Sunday, Sept. 23, with the last swing at the TOUR Championship by Coca-Cola. PGATOUR.com’s signature franchise LIVE@ will offer live video streaming at all four of the Playoff tournaments including The Barclays (Aug. 23-26), Deutsche Bank Championship (Aug. 31-Sept. 3), BMW Championship (Sept. 6-9) and the TOUR Championship by Coca-Cola (Sept. 20-23).
DIRECTV announced that it will stream its first-ever, live NFL fantasy football video conference with NFL stars and fantasy fanatics Maurice Jones-Drew and Brent Celek to discuss fantasy related questions. The teleconference will be moderated by DIRECTV’s Red Zone Channel host Andrew Siciliano, and streamed from the site of the recently announced three-day NFL Fantasy Draft Week in New York. The teleconference will take place on Wednesday, Aug. 22 at 5:30p.
Yahoo! Sports is celebrating its 15th fantasy football anniversary by offering fans and sponsors the “ultimate fantasy experience” with new features and apps designed to help them stay connected to the action across the PC, phone, tablet and TV. This year’s sponsors are set to include Citi, Miller Lite, SNICKERS, Toyota, and Visa. New features for the upcoming 2012 Fantasy Football season include Yahoo!’s Pro League featuring the highest percentage payouts and most cash prizes available with the chance to win up to $500 as well as the ability to manage teams across devices.
