Making it official, FOX said all three American Idol judges  Jennifer Lopez, Steven Tyler and Randy Jackson will be back on the show for its 11th season.  Ryan Seacrest will also return as host when the new season of American Idol premieres January 22 at 10p directly following the NFC Championship Game on FOX. 

Adult Swim approved a fourth season of the satirical comedy series Childrens Hospital created by and starring Rob Corddry.  Fourteen new episodes will roll out in 2012 and principal photography will commence yet this year.  Childrens Hospital is presently in its third season on Adult Swim as the first season premiered as a digital series on TheWB.com in 2008.  Abominable Pictures produces the series that is distributed by Warner Bros. Television.  Along with Corddry, the returning cast members include Malin Akerman, Lake Bell, Erinn Hayes, Rob Huebel, Ken Marino, Megan Mullally and Henry Winkler.

Next Monday morning, Spanish-language cable network Galavision launches the news program Matutino Express.  The new three-hour weekday show airs at 10a hosted by Esteban Arce along with Adriana Riveramelo and Jose Ramon San Cristobal.  Matutino Express will serve up current news headlines, political and economic reports, sports, entertainment, music and weather stories as well as commentary and humor.

Litton Entertainment said its original hi-def series Culture Click, part of Litton’s Weekend Adventure, premieres September 3 on more than 95% of ABC affiliates nationwide.  The three-hour block, produced by Litton Studios, is comprised of six original hi-def E/I series including Jack Hanna’s Wild Countdown, Ocean Mysteries with Jeff Corwin, Born to Explore, Everyday Health, Food for Thought with Claire Thomas and Culture Click.

Zephyr Media Group, heading a group of companies, is launching Vibrant TV, a broadcast destination exclusively housing programming from international producers and broadcasters.  Vibrant TV is slated to launch in June 2012 ready to air programming blocks in categories such as lifestyle, reality, series, sports and kids.  Vibrant TV will be at the upcoming MIPCOM market. 

Production started this week on TNT’s upcoming original series Perception helmed by Eric McCormack (Will & Grace).  The plot centers on an eccentric neuroscientist and professor, Dr. Daniel Pierce (McCormack) who helps the government solve complicated criminal cases.  Rachael Leigh Cook, Arjay Smith and Kelly Rowan also star in the series with ten total episodes.  LeVar Burton additionally will play a recurring role as Paul Haley, a dean at the university. Perception, produced by ABC Studios, makes its debut in summer 2012. 

The character Carrie Bradshaw may be making a comeback on The CW in a prequel series version of Sex and the City.  The Carrie Diaries would depict Carrie Bradshaw as a teen based on the recent book by Candice Bushnell about Carrie’s high school years.  No deals have been forged and the talks are in the early stages. 

FOX handed a put pilot deal to writer Josh Friedman and 20th Century Fox Television for a spy drama project, reports Variety.  Additionally, Variety says a comedy project starring Sarah Silverman from 20th TV and Imagine TV is receiving bids from ABC, FOX and NBC.  Silverman will write the semi-autobiographical pilot along with Dan Sterling and Jon Schroeder, both from her previous Comedy Central series The Sarah Silverman Program. 

CBS’ The Mentalist cast Michael Rady (Greek, the updated Melrose Place) as Luther Wainwright, the CBI’s new special agent in charge of Patrick Jane (Simon Baker) and his team. The Mentalist premieres on CBS September 22 at 10p.

Casting Call:  Cooking Channel is casting for a new pilot, My Grandmother’s Ravioli hosted by Mo Rocca and looking for grandmothers or grandfathers to teach Mo their favorite recipe and share stories and life advice.  The show producers are looking for grandmothers and grandfathers who: preferably live in the New York Tri State area; all ethnicities will be considered; 50-100 years old; people with big personalities who are great home cooks with a treasured family recipe (professional cooks may apply); real characters that are fun, outgoing, fiery, even curmudgeonly people who are willing to teach Mo Rocca how to prepare a delicious dish and to share family stories and grandparent advice.  Interested applicants can also have other fun hobbies or pursuits.  Accents and English as a second language is not a problem.  If you are submitting yourself, email a recent photo and list your specialties and how often you cook for yourself or for your family and friends.  Include details on your cooking background, your favorite dish and why you would like to teach Mo your recipe.  Also include any funny stories about yourself.  If you are nominating your grandmother or grandfather, please describe them and include their age, personality, where they live and what their food specialties are and how best to contact them.  Please also include all contact information: email, telephone numbers and address.  Submit this information and any questions to: [email protected].

Tuesday A18-49 Analysis:   FOX heated things up Tuesday by winning the A18-49 viewers with a 2.7/8, according to final national ratings from Nielsen.  At 8p, the season finale of MasterChef on FOX scorched the competition at 2.4/8 while a tie occurred between ABC’s Wipeout repeat and Univision’s Teresa at 1.6/5 apiece.  FOX won by a skosh during 9p with a 2.9/8 for a second episode of MasterChef followed closely by NBC’s America’s Got Talent at 2.8/8.  Then at 10p, NBC’s America’s Got Talent moved into first place at 2.9/8 and Univision appeared in second place with Aqui y Ahora at 1.3/4.

Endemol announced further expansion news resulting in the formation of Endemol Studios based in Los Angeles specializing in independent scripted television content.  Philippe Maigret was named CEO of Endemol Studios, reporting to David Goldberg, Chairman of Endemol North America.  Philippe joined Endemol in March 2010 and since then has been EVP/North America Acquisitions and he will continue serving in this role for the company.  Additionally, Jeremy Gold will become Head/Creative Affairs, Endemol Studios.  Jeremy has been with the company since 2008 as SVP/Scripted Programming and also was involved in the launch of Endemol USA’s scripted TV development unit.

Former President/Disney Interactive Media, Steve Wadsworth tapped as a Digital Advisor to FishBowl Worldwide Media.  The company will utilize Steve’s vast experience to develop and identify digital media advancements.  FishBowl Worldwide Media was founded by Chairman Vin Di Bona and President/CEO Bruce Gersh. 

Univision Communications Inc. hired Karl Penhaul and Carlos Villalon for its Univision News team as special Foreign Correspondents reporting from various hotbed news places around the world.  Both Karl and Carlos will report for all Univision News platforms.  Karl joins from CNN where he was an on-air international correspondent for all CNN platforms.  Prior to joining Univision, Carlos was a photographer for Redux Pictures since 2004.

Jose Cancela appointed President/GM of Telemundo’s KVEA/Los Angeles.  Jose is in charge for all strategic and operations of KVEA-TV encompassing news, sales, promotion, engineering, finance, human resources and community relations.  Jose’s scope will also include development and execution of sales and marketing goals, direct sales forecasting efforts and revenue-making goals. 

Mark Kang joins The Inspiration Networks as SVP/Worldwide Distribution as part of the company’s affiliate sales team.  Previously, Mark worked for Sportsman Channel and Court TV (truTV). 

Big Spaceship, a creative agency based in Brooklyn added several to its strategy team:

• Joshua Teixeira elevated to Director/Strategy to manage the agency’s increasing strategy team. Joshua reports to Michael Lebowitz, Founder/CEO.
• David Gillespie hired as Senior Strategist, joining from Profero Sydney based in Australia and reporting to Joshua Teixeira.
