~ DISTRIBUTION, CARRIAGE & CLEARANCE ~

MIPTV 2012:

FremantleMedia Enterprises (FME) made a deal with Turner Broadcasting to support the launch of the new TNT cable channel in Benelux with 135 hours of drama, comedy and entertainment programming.  Launching next Tuesday, TNT Benelux acquired the UK dramas Exile, The Crimson Petal & The White, Laconia and Holy Flying Circus; the comedy series The IT Crowd, Phoneshop and Trollied among others; and the international series Satisfaction, Killing Time, Web Therapy and Cops LAC.

Kinetic Content acquired the US rights to the series format My Kitchen Rules from Australia’s Seven Network Television. The series is currently in its third season on Seven Network.

SevenOne International sold the dramedy series Lilyhammer to AB Groupe in France starring Steven Van Zandt.  Lilyhammer has previously aired on Netflix in the US, Canada and Latin America as well as achieving top ratings on Norway’s NRK.

Cyn’s Notes from MIPTV 2012: As another MIPTV comes to a close, I’m on my way home after a pretty quiet conference.  Lots of meetings as usual, but all in all, it was pretty sedate this time around.  With that said, everyone has high expectations for the fall MIPCOM and MIP Jr events, and that they will be extremely well attended as in past years.  By the way, if you are planning on coming in October, you may want to book your hotels early.  Word is the Carlton will be closed for renovations, so that’s some 600 folks looking for other accommodations for the fall.

And since this is France, I  would be remiss if I didn’t share with you the coming fashion trends seen in the store fronts here, because I know you wait for these little missives so you can plan your spring/summer/fall wardrobes.  How else could you possibly do it?  So here you go — muted colors.  I know.  Sounds dull.  We’re talking taupe, tan, grey, blues and soft pastels.  Layered hues of mute.  Sounds awful, but really doesn’t look bad.  Most of the shops are showing these combos in their windows.  But here’s the fun part — each outfit also has a single brilliant pop of color in an accessory –  shoes, a scarf, a bag or bangle.  And I’m talking bright color – fushia, orange, teal, yellow and in some less fortunate cases, neon.  So compile your muted wardrobe, but don’t forget the colorful accessories!  Personally, i picked up two pairs of ballet flats — both patent leather, one orange and one fushia, for the summer.  Fabulous!
