A CYNOPSIS MESSAGE FROM DISNEY XD
Disney XD is Kickin’ It!
KICK BUTTOWSKI … the name says it all. Disney XD’s newest animated series is now its #1 show with Boys 6-14, helping to lead the network to its best Q1 ever. Kick Buttowski? Yeah, you could say we are. We’re bringing it – and you gotta be part of it! Source:The Nielsen Company via Startrak. 8/31/09-3/28/10, series only. Record:10/2/00-3/28/10 by QTR. M-Su 6A-12A K6-14. Live+SD AA(000). Subject to qualif available upon request. Cynopsis: Kids! Good morning. It’s Thursday, April 29, 2010, and this is your first early morning Kids briefing. Writer/director Bill Condon is set to direct Summit Entertainment‘s The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn, based on the fourth book in Stephenie Meyer’s Twilight series. As for the burning question – will Breaking Dawn be broken into two movies, as has been rumored for some time, the answer is … it doesn’t appear so … or you could see it this way … the announcement didn’t say it would only be one movie, which is to say the Breaking Dawn two movie rumor is still going strong. Condon is well known for directing movies such as Dreamgirls, Kinsey, and Gods and Monsters, and for writing the screenplay for the movie adaptation of the musical Chicago. Melissa Rosenberg is currently penning the script for Breaking Dawn, which will be produced by Wyck Godfrey, Karen Rosenfelt, and Meyer. The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, the third movie in the franchise, releases this June 30. Imax Corporation and Warner Bros. Pictures enter into a new deal that includes the release of up to 20 Warner Bros. feature films in Imax’s format now through 2013. Warner Bros. movies (and their specific dates) set for release in Imax include: Legends of the Guardian: The Owls of Ga’Hoole 3D (September 24, 2010); Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 (3D) (November 19, 2010); Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II (3D) (July 15, 2011); Happy Feet 2 (3D) (November 18, 2011); and The Hobbit (December 2013). An additional 15 Warner Bros. titles that will also be released in Imax over the next several years will include Gravity, Dark Shadows, Fury Road, Batman 3, and Superman. The two companies began their partnership in 2003, and have since released 25 movie titles in Imax, ten of which featured Imax 3D, which includes live action movies that were partially converted into 3D with Imax’s 2D-to-3D conversion technology. NEW PRODUCTION & DEVELOPMENT Miranda Cosgrove, star of Nickelodeon’s iCarly, is headed to the big screen as Paramount taps British writer Emma Forrest to develop a project for Cosgrove, per Variety. No specifics about the project as of yet. Forrest has written the young adult books Name Dropper and Thin Skin, as well as several movie scripts, including Liars and Becoming Music. DreamWorks Animation is moving forward with a sequel to its movie How to Train Your Dragon, as well as an animated TV series based on the movie, per THR. The Dragon movie sequel is slated for release in 2013. Additionally, DreamWorks is working on an online How to Train Your Dragon virtual world, as well as the previously announced a live arena tour show, featuring state-of-the-art animatronics, and based on the property. DreamWorks already has two animated series based on its movies, Penguins of Madagascar and Kung Fu Panda, both of which are produced with Nickelodeon. Also, as previously announced, DreamWorks is producing two TV specials, Scared Shrekless and a Kung Fu Panda holiday special, that will air later this year. Cartoon Network orders second seasons of its two newest animated series Ben 10: Ultimate Alien and Generator Rex, which premiered on the network last Friday, April 23 at 8p and 8:30p respectively. The pick includes 32×30 new episodes of Ben 10: Ultimate Alien, the newest chapter of the Ben 10 series, and 20×30 further episodes of Generator Rex. Both series are created by Man of Action and produced at Cartoon Network Studios. CBeebies picks up a third season of the preschool-targeted series Grandpa in My Pocket from Adastra Creative. The new season of Grandpa in MY Pocket will include 13 new episodes as well as a Christmas special. Decode Enterprises handles the international distribution for all rights for the series. Shout! Factory and Marvel Animation expand their content partnership to release Marvel’s new Marvel Knights Animation on DVD in the US. Based on Marvel’s comic books, Marvel Knights Animation combines comic book graphics with new animation technology to create hybrid animated motion content. Under the multi-year deal, Shout! Factory will be the exclusive US home entertainment distributor with licensing rights to Marvel Knights Animation properties, including Astonishing X-Men: Gifted, Black Panther, Iron Man: Extremis, and Spider-Woman, as other to be announced. Early this year Shout! inked a deal with Marvel to serve as its exclusive US home entertainment distributor for Marvel’s animated series The Super Hero Squad Show. MARKETING/LICENSING Just before Paramount and DreamWorks Animation release Shrek Forever After, the fourth and final Shrek movie, on May 21, 2010, DGC/Interscope Records will release Shrek Forever After: Music From The Motion Picture. From May 18, the soundtrack album will be available digitally, while the physical CD will be available exclusively at Walmart stores. Like the previous Shrek soundtracks, the Shrek Forever After album will feature a mix of artists and music genres, including Weezer’s cover version of the Monkees’ song I’m A Believer, which was composed by Neil Diamond and was featured on the first Shrek soundtrack, where the song was covered by Smash Mouth. Other artists on the new release include classic songs from the Beastie Boys, The Carpenters, Lionel Richie, and original songs by Scissor Sisters, Mike Simon, and Landon Pigg/Lucy Schwartz. Additionally, the soundtrack features song performed by cast members, including Antonio Banderas, Walt Dohrn, and Cody Cameron. Atari teams with marketing partners Franklin Sports, GT Beverages, Baseball Youth, and the National Alliance of Youth Sports, to support the release of its new Backyard Sports: Sandlot Sluggers video game for Xbox 360, Wii, and Nintendo DS, which releases May 25, 2010.
