TV viewing dominated as the medium of choice for watching and following the first presidential debate earlier this month, according to a just-released study from Pew. The study, based on a phone survey of 1000 adults, found that 85% of Americans who watched the presidential debate live watched on TV only, while 3% watched on a computer or phone only, and 11% used two screens, meaning they followed coverage of the debate online or on a mobile phone while watching on TV. Pew also found that 32% of those younger than 40 followed the debate live online, including 22% who followed it both on television and online, and 10% who followed it only on a computer or mobile device. In other political debate news, TiVo said that the most-watched moment during the vice presidential debate last week across all broadcast and cable networks that carried the event was the exchange between the two candidates over Mitt Romney’s 47% video. Through its TRA research arm, Tivo analyzed viewing data and audience behavior to include the most rewound and re-watched moments.
