Soap fans of ABC’s former All My Children and the soon-to-be canceled One Life to Live will not see either serialized drama move from network television to online after all. Prospect Park, the independent production company that had snagged the rights to continue both via an online network, announced just before Thanksgiving the production details could not be worked out. Prospect Park founders Rich Frank and Jeff Kwatinetz said, “After five months of negotiations with various guilds, hundreds of presentations to potential financial and technology partners, and a hope that we could pioneer a new network for the future, it is with great disappointment that we are suspending our aspirations to revive One Life to Live and All My Children via online distribution.” ABC ended All My Children last September and One Life to Live recently wrapped production and ABC will air its final episode in January.
A quarterly boxing series is premiering January 21 on NBC Sports Network, the new network which is rebranding from Versus and launching January 2. NBC Sports Network Fight Night will air on Saturdays and the first one is from Philadelphia, the home base of one of Comcast’s regional sports networks (RSN). The cities where Comcast has an RSN will be the host cities for the fights and additionally will help promote and re-air them.
Next month, Nat Geo WILD will air its Big Cat Week beginning December 11 through December 17. The network’s seven-night event spotlights stories of the world’s largest felines and the people who are working to save them. Big Cat Week also encompasses National Geographic’s Big Cats Initiative, a long-range commitment to prevent the decline of these majestic animals in the wild. Nat Geo Wild’s Big Cat Week opens with Stalking the Mountain Lion with Casey Anderson on December 11 at 8p. A full schedule of Nat Geo Wild’s Big Cat Week programming can be found at natgeowild.com.
