Early next year, it is likely CBS will revamp its third-ranking morning show, The Early Show transforming it into a two-hour news show. More details on the proposed morning news program are expected to be announced in New York tomorrow.  CBS’ new program will focus on hard news and use a conversational format such as MSNBC’s Morning Joe or ABC’s The View.  Charlie Rose and Gayle King, who has long been associated with Oprah Winfrey, will join other new hires and The Early Show’s current co-hosts, Erica Hill and Jeff Glor on a new studio set that is under construction at CBS’ headquarters on West 57th Street in New York.  Rose, who has contributed to CBS News’ 60 Minutes, will co-anchor the 7a hour with Hill.  King will co-anchor the 8a hour with Glor where CBS also intends to feature specific correspondents.  For Rose, a move to morning TV would not signal an end to his long-running late night interview program, Charlie Rose on PBS. 

Recently the competition reality series, Your OWN Show: Oprah’s Search for the Next TV Star which aired on OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network chose not one but two winners.  The dual winners, Zach Anner and Kristina Kuzmic will both will star in their own shows debuting this December on OWN: 

• Anner will host a travel show, Rollin’ with Zach produced by Pie Town Productions opening December 12 at 8p with back-to-back episodes airing over three consecutive weeks for a total of six episodes.  Anner, who has cerebral palsy and became a fan favorite through his audition video, will travel the country, meeting new people and trying new adventures.  Grammy Award-winner John Mayer composed and performed the theme song for Rollin’ with Zach titled Let The Boy. 
• Kuzmic’s new show The Ambush Cook will premiere December 3 at 12p with double episodes airing for three consecutive weeks for a total of six episodes.  The Croatian-born Kuzmic, who was once a single mother without a job, shares her passion for cooking as she ambushes people and takes them to her kitchen for an intervention in home cooking.  The Ambush Cook is also produced by Pie Town Productions.

Tomorrow night A&E Network’s series Storage Wars moves to a new night as it returns with new episodes airing back-to-back starting at 10p.  A&E also debuts the new original series Storage Wars: Texas produced by Original Productions, a FremantleMedia Company for A&E with sixteen half-hour eps beginning December 6 at 1030p which will follow episodes of Storage Wars.  In its current season, Storage Wars is averaging 4.7 million viewers; 2.7 million with A25-54; and 2.6 million among A18-49.

Political drama series House of Cards, which will air via Netflix, will be distributed by Media Rights Capital and Sony Pictures Television (SPT) in a new partnership forged by the two entities.  SPT will handle worldwide distribution of House of Cards and both companies will participate in distribution for the series in the US, Canada, Latin America and Spain following Netflix’s completion of transmission in those specific regions.   House of Cards stars Kevin Spacey and Robin Wright and was developed by Beau Willimon who also serves as show-runner on the series in addition to writing the pilot. 

Washington, D.C.-based TeleGraff Media forged a co-production deal with Discovery Communications, LLC for the series Biggest & Baddest.  The one-hour series with six episodes follows well-known explorer and wildlife biologist, Niall McCann as he finds the largest and most dangerous animals found in the world.  The series will also air on Animal Planet Canada and is produced by Gryphon Productions’ wildlife unit Wild Planet Productions.
 
Ben Stiller signed an overall television production and development deal with ABC Studios on behalf of his Red Hour Films.  The deal goes through May 31, 2013 and includes an option to extend for one year as well as the hire of former Universal Pictures’ executive Deborah Liebling to head Red Hour’s new television unit.

A potential new six-hour miniseries titled Harem about the rise and fall of the Ottoman Empire, is being developed by Starz and BBC Worldwide Productions, reports THR.  Ann Peacock is close to finalizing a deal to write the project based on an original idea by Gina Gershon.  Harem would relate the story of Sultan Suleyman the Magnificent, the longest-reigning sultan of the Ottoman Empire who reconstructed the legal system and managed the fleet’s annexation of most of the Middle East.  The plot would surround Roxelana, a beautiful young slave woman who marries Suleyman which begins the time known as the Reign of Women.

Paul Bettany has been tapped to star in Showtime’s drama pilot Masters of Sex.  Bettany will portray William H. Masters who partnered with Virginia E. Johnson forming the celebrated research team on human sexuality.  Sony Pictures Television is behind the adaptation of Thomas Maier’s book which provides the source material.  Showtime approved the pilot last August. 

Former The Twilight Saga star Ashley Greene is set to appear in a multi-episode run on ABC’s frosh drama Pan Am.  Greene will play a debutante who is connected to Michael Mosley’s character Ted.  Greene will first appear in the December 5 episode.

Thursday A18-49 Analysis:  FOX tallied another Thursday night win with a 2.9/8 A18-49, according to final national ratings from Nielsen.  CBS did best at 8p with an average of 4.4/12 for its comedies The Big Bang Theory and Rules of Engagement followed by The X-Factor on FOX at 3.3/9.  At 9p, ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy had the cure at 4.1/10 and Univision’s Latin Grammy 2011 coverage was #2 at 2.7/6 while FOX’s Bones was a close third place at 2.6/6.  Then at 10p, ABC’s Private Practice was first at 2.8/7 and Univision remained in second place with the Latin Grammy 2011 telecast at 2.2/6.
