Dusting off a concept from the archives of television’s history, RDF USA is hoping to resurrect Queen for a Day a show that first appeared on network television 61 years ago. RDF will shop the show to networks and syndicators this week. The previous show, which aired first on NBC then on ABC from 1947-64, had women tell of their beleaguered lives and the audience would vote on who was the most pathetic. The “queen” would receive a crown, roses and prizes from sponsors. RDF hopes to bring back some of the same elements and wishes to play up the Cinderella-aspect of the show and the branded integration possibilities for advertisers. Putting the final casting piece in place, Rob Estes, most recently appearing in ABC’s Women’s Murder Club, joins The CW’s 90210, according to THR. Rob will play the father, Harry Mills who becomes the principal of West Beverly High after moving his family to Beverly Hills from Kansas. Rob also appeared in another 90210 spin-off, Melrose Place as Kyle McBride. ~ ELSEWHERE IN CYNOPSIS ~
