Good morning.  It’s Monday, May 16, 2005 and this is your first early morning briefing.

NBC begins upfront week with its announcement to media buyers this afternoon at 3pm.  The rumors continue to swirl around NBC potential fall schedule.  While the schedule itself remains quite unclear, all the rumors do point to the following new additions and subtractions:

Tonight’s Finales:
ABC:  The Bachelor (begins at 8p)

* NEW ORDERS / DEVELOPMENT / PRODUCTION *

Comedy Central has ordered up a sketch/variety show pilot starring comedian Sarah Silverman. The pilot is scheduled to shoot in late summer.

At MTV the network has ordered a new reality series called Run’s House, with cameras in the home of rap artist Reverend Run, who is part of the rap group Run-DMC.  Run and hsi wife Justine have five children, between the ages of 9 adn 21. MTV is looking at a fourth qtr premiere.

* MORE GOOD STUFF *

Telepictures syndicated series Celebrity Justice will not return in the fall, per Broadcasting & Cable. The program is likely to continue in production until the end of its run.

MSNBC plans to move forward with a new series with anchor host Rita Cosby, who makes the move to MSNBC from Fox News.  The show is expected to join the schedule in 4th qtr.

While Oxygen network continues with its fourth season of Girls Behaving Badly, the series also prepares for its first season in syndication this fall.  Also, the network is preparing a pair of spin-offs to the original called Kids Behaving Badly (10 eps ordered) – same format of hidden camera pranks, this time with kids instead of adults; and Girls Behaving Badly: Revenge of the Boys (5 eps ordered).  The spinoff series will air both on Oxygen (Kids on Saturday mornings premiering June 25; Boys will air on five consecutive weeknights beginning July 25 at 10p).  The Kids edition will also appear on Oh! Baby, the VOD platform for Oxygen where 10 eps will be available for viewing.

Laurie will report to Shirley Powell, SVP/Corporate Communications for Turner Broadcasting System, Inc.

IN DEMAND Networks has upped Sergei Kuharsky to EVP/Sales and Marketing, overseeing all sales initiatives for the company, with emphasis on the advertising programs for high-definition networks INHD and INHD2. He will maintain responsibility for the company’s marketing strategies for all of its products.

Thursday – A18-49 Analysis- May Sweep Day #15:  CBS led on Thursday night with an overall 7.4/20 A18-49 according to final numbers from Nielsen Media Research.  NBC was tracking close behind with a 6.1/16, following distantly by Fox 2.3/6, ABC and UPN 1.9/5, WB 1.3/4.  At 8p Survivor charged out in front with a 7.1/21, nearly doubling Joey’s 3.6/11 share.  At 9p CSI dominated with a 9.1/23, though Apprentice on NBC wasn’t too far behind with a 6.8/17.  At 10p ER jumped out in front with a 8.0/21, followed by Without a Trace on CBS posting a 5.9/15 and Primetime Live a 2.2/6.

Friday – A18-49 Analysis- May Sweep Day #16:  The win on Friday night among A18-49 according to Nielsen Media Research was CBS with an overall 3.1/11 A18-49.  ABC was second with a 2.6/9, followed by NBC 1.9/7, UPN 1.6/6, Fox and WB 1.4/5.  At 8p CBS led for the first two hours of primetime with its special: Elvis, By the Presleys, delivering a 3.0/10 for the block. A two hour America’s Funniest Videos was second on ABC with a 2.2/8.  At 10p CBS inched out ABC by a single share point: 3.4/11 vs. 3.3/10.  Law & Order: Trial By Jury (which we will find out today if it will return next season) delivered a soft 1.9/6.

Saturday – A18-49 Analysis- May Sweep Day #17:  As usual, airing the same Saturday night schedule its been airing for a decade or more, Fox won the night with a 2.2/8 A18-49, according to fast affiliate numbers from Nielsen Media Research.  CBS was #2 with a 2.0/7, followed by NBC 1.6/5 and ABC 1.5/5.  At 8p Fox’s combo of Cops [original] and Cops [r] earned a 2.2/8, while CBS’ Cold Case delivered a 1.5/6.   Reverse the order at 9p with CBS now in front with a 2.3/8 for a repeat of CSI, followed by Fox’s America’s Most Wanted with a 2.2/7.  CBS and NBC tied at 10p, each posting a 7 share for 48 Hours adn L&O respectively.  The NBA Playoffs on ABC delivered a 1.5/5 A18-49, while in M18-49 it was tied Fox for #1 with a 2.1/7.
