“We are the Hispanic Hollywood” was the theme of the Telemundo Media Upfront at New York’s Museum of Arts & Design last Thursday, according to President Emilio Romano, COO Jacqueline Hernandez, and EVP of Ad Sales & Integrated Marketing Mike Rosen. “Our reach is identical to our competitor, Univision, but their ratings are higher,” said Rosen. “So we’re getting advertisers to challenge conventional wisdom, as we transform from a ‘paid’ culture to ‘paid, owned, earned and shared.'” Here’s some of what Telemundo has in store.

New telenovelas:

Dama y Obrero focuses on the complicated lovers’ triangle of Ignacia, Tomas and Pedro.

La Impostora follows the adventures of Blanca Guerrero, an aspiring actress hired to pose as millionaire investor Victoria San Marino and infiltrate the powerful Altamira family.

Reina de Corazones tells the story of a woman who has forgotten the last five years of her life and tries to put the pieces of the puzzle back together.

Camelia la Tejana centers on a young, innocent and beautiful woman trying to escape from one of Mexico’s most powerful drug lords, Don Antonio.

Santa Diabla [wt] focuses on a dramatic twist of fate that leads Santa Martinez to live the worst of nightmares – the loss of her husband, following an obsessed woman’s terrible plot to destroy him.

Two new shows join the daytime lineup. Suelta la Sopa, a daily celebrity-driven gossip series featuring the top stories from the world of entertainment and exclusive scoops scored by teams of paparazzi around the U.S. and Mexico. Entre Grandes Y Chicos is a new game show where adults compete against kids in role-reversal games to see what it’s like from each other’s perspectives.

Superstar Showdown [wt], a variety-competition show produced in association with Ryan Seacrest Productions, features well-known music icons facing off in four rounds of music-based games and sing-offs.

Original reality series premiering on mun2 include: Viva Los Vargas, which follows the life and journey of world boxing champion Fernando Vargas and his family; Reinas de Reality, which centers on friends and real estate partners Jackie Mateos and Liz Perez; and Horoscopos, which follows sisters Vicky and Marisol Terrazas, the lead singers of leading regional Mexican group Horoscopos de Durango.

On the music front, mun2 has renewed Reventon, Tiro Con La Bronca and mun2POP!

Univision Communications Inc. unveiled its 2013-14 programming lineup presenting more than 30 new shows and an emphasis on more targeted, multimedia programming. Here’s a look at what’s coming up.

Four new telenovelas include: La Tempestad (The Storm), about Marina who finds work and love in a small fishing village; Mentir para Vivir (Lie So You Can Live), about Oriana, who flees to a Mexican resort hotel and takes on a false identity to protect her daughter; Libre Para Amarte (Free to Love), about Aurora who supports her family by taking over a famous taxi stand in Mexico City; and La Mujer del Vendaval (The Woman from Vendaval) about Marcela who is about to receive a large inheritance on the condition that she marry.

Three new comedies include: Durmiendo con mi Jefe (Sleeping with my Boss), a modern Mexican twist on the classic sitcom The Odd Couple; Todo Incluido (All-Inclusive), which  showcases the popular alter egos of comedian Adrian Uribe; and Casate Conmigo (Marry Me) about a woman who flees the altar for the third time.

Reality series include: Va Por Ti, which searches for the next music superstar; Mira Quien Baila! 4 (Look Who’s Dancing! 4), the reality dance competition returning for a fourth season; Nuestra Belleza Latina 8 (Our Latin Beauty 8), the reality/drama/talent contest/beauty pageant returning for an eighth season; and Parodiando 3 (Parody 3), a comedy featuring contestants competing as all-time favorite celebrities.

Through a joint venture, Univision News and Participant Media have come together to produce and market a series of ten documentaries drawn from the headlines and produced in both Spanish and English.

Unimas presents eight new drama series, including Metastasis, based on Breaking Bad, which tells the story of a high school chemistry teacher diagnosed with inoperable lung cancer; and La Viuda Negra (The Black Widow), based on the true story of Griselda Blanco, “The Cocaine Godmother,” who ruled the Miami drug trade in the 1970s and early 1980s.

Galavision has three new entries: #Hoy Soy Nadie (#Today I’m Nobody), set in the real world and the murky world of cyberspace; Mistico e Inexplicable (Mystical and Unexplainable), a show that explores the paranormal; and Mexico, a series of hour-long documentaries dedicated to the experience of Mexico through its history, culture, sports and people.

Univision Deportes offers an action-packed summer with 90 Dias de Delirio (90 Days of Madness), featuring the most exciting soccer matches and tournaments from around the globe.

Adult Swim announced its 2013-14 programming schedule, a mixed slate of more than 30 new and returning series, pilots and specials. “As Adult Swim continues to grow and be the place for great comedic talent as well as surprising and unexpected content, it is important that we expand its development of original programs so that we can build on its success even more,” said Stuart Snyder, president/coo of Turner’s Animation, Young Adults & Kids Media Group. Here’s a look at what’s coming up.

New animated series include: Rick and Morty, about the adventures shared between a genius grandfather and his less than genius grandson; Mr. Pickles, about the Goodman clan and their deviant border collie; Mike Tyson Mysteries, about Mighty Mike and his talking pigeon sidekick; and King Star King, about a punk rock he-man who falls from the realm of the gods to land as a fry cook in a waffle joint.

New series Your Pretty Face Is Going to Hell is a workplace comedy about Gary, an associate demon, who attempts to capture souls on earth to climb the corporate ladder of the underworld.

Premiering in October, Hot Package is a fictional Canadian entertainment news program in the vein of Entertainment Tonight and EXTRA.

Pilots include a mix of live-action and animation, including Hole to Hole, which follows the exploits of sexy billionaire detectives Ashleigh and Amelia Dangerhole in a parody of ’80s detective shows, and Ubermansion, from Stoopid Buddy Stoodios and the creators of Robot Chicken, about the mundane humanity of six superheroes all living in the same mansion.
