Canada’s television regulator, the CRTC (Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission) has issued a warning to Oprah Winfrey‘s OWN: comply with the terms of its broadcasting agreement and submit to monitoring and reporting conditions or possibly risk losing its license. The CRTC said OWN is breaking the terms of its broadcast agreement by focusing too heavily on food, fitness and beauty, while neglecting educational programming. OWN’s license calls for programming that “provides formal and informal educational programming and learning opportunities that generally focus on adult education,” the CRTC ruling said on Friday, March 15. However, “a disproportionate amount of OWN’s schedule is still composed of ‘life-enhancing’ programming, with the result of an insufficient representation of basic, skills-related and credit-based programming.” OWN is aired locally by the Toronto-based Corus Entertainment Inc.

The third season of FX’s American Horror Story will be subtitled Coven and be shot, in part, in New Orleans, marking the first time the show will go on location. Series creator Ryan Murphy confirmed the news at the closing night of the 30th annual PaleyFest on March 15. Jessica Lange will be back for season three as well as Frances Conroy, Taissa Farmiga, Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters and Lily Rabe. Joining the series will be Kathy Bates, who’s set to play Lange’s former best friend turned enemy.

Bad news, Bachelor Nation. Mike Fleiss, creator/producer of the ABC series The Bachelor and its spinoffs, took to Twitter to announce that there won’t be a fourth edition of Bachelor Pad this summer, and the network has confirmed it. Bachelor Pad, which debuted in August of 2010, featured contestants from The Bachelor and The Bachelorette who lived together and competed for a cash prize of $250,000.

GLAAD (The Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation) handed out awards to NBC‘s Smash and CBS‘ The Amazing Race during their 24th annual Media Awards ceremony in New York on Saturday, March 16. The group – that honors openly gay media professionals who’ve made a difference in promoting equality – named Smash Outstanding Drama Series and The Amazing Race as Outstanding Reality Program.

The Weather Channel is set to premiere three new series from March 21-26. Forecasting the End, which debuts Thursday, March 21 at 9p, delves into the theories behind earth-ending science and how disasters like super-volcanoes, mega-tsunamis and deadly solar flares aren’t as far-fetched as people think. Loaded, which premieres Monday, March 25, at 9p, spotlights the high stakes world of trucking and the road warriors who put it all on the line, battling each other, weather and road hazards, to make sure they deliver on time and under budget. Prospectors, which premieres Tuesday, March 26 at 9p, follows a group of miners who brave the continent’s most extreme mountain environments, while searching for the planet’s most precious gems in order to strike it rich.

To celebrate the 100th episode of Psych, Cloo is giving fans the chance to relive the entire series with the ultimate marathon, 99 Psychs on the Wall. The episodes start with the show’s pilot episode on Saturday, March 23 at 7p and will lead up to the premiere of the series’ milestone episode, 100 Clues, on USA Wednesday, March 27 at 10p. Featuring the very first time fans met Shawn Spencer, Burton “Gus” Guster and their partners in crime, fans will flashback to when it all began in the summer of 2006. The marathon will air in order and include fan favorite episodes like From the Earth to Starbucks, High Top Fade Out and American Duos. Furthering the experience during the marathon, fans can participate in the show’s digital celebration leading up to the 100th episode on http://psych.usanetwork.com, play TheS#cialSector, and share their favorite episodes and classic moments on USA’s social water-cooler Character Chatter.

Cable One has reached a multi-year agreement with AMC Networks for the right to continue carriage of AMC and WE tv. The deal was struck before the expiration of the parties last contract on March 15, so there was no disruption in service.

Dallas Roberts, who currently recurs on The Walking Dead and The Good Wife, has joined the cast of CBS‘ revived drama Unforgettable. He’ll play Eliot, a detective in charge of the major cases section of the NYPD.

James Earl (Glee) and Rene Gube (The Office, The Newsroom) have landed roles in the TBS comedy pilot Ground Floor. Earl will play Derrick, while Gube will portray Threepeat.

Taye Diggs (Private Practice) and Kathleen Robertson (Boss) are set to co-star in the TNT drama pilot Murder in the First by Steven Bochco. Diggs will play homicide detective Terry Seagrave. Robertson will portray his partner, HildyMulligan.

Days after the Vatican named Jorge Mario Bergoglioits new pope, Bruno Ganz has been tapped to portray Pope Sixtus VI in the Showtime drama pilot, The Vatican. The veteran actor, whose credits include The Reader and The Manchurian Candidate, became an Internet sensation for his portrayal of Adolf Hitler in Downfall.

Tim Roth has joined the cast of the Discovery Channel mini-series Klondike (wt). He’ll play The Count in the project based on Charlotte Gray’s book Gold Diggers: Striking It Rich in the Klondike.

Global distribution and production company Off The Fence has announced an acquisitions deal with PBS America, the new channel from America’s Public Broadcasting Service (PBS). It is the first major acquisitions deal for PBS America since launching on Sky and Virgin Media in November 2011. The agreement is for 21 factual titles, a total of 22.5 hours of history, nature, science and adventure content, all but one of which are brand new to the UK. Titles chosen by PBS America from OTF’s catalog include Death Valley, Death of JFK Jr, Challenging Niagara, Otters of Yellowstone and Tragedy in Amish County.

Thursday A18-49 Analysis:  CBS was the clear leader among A18-49 viewers Thursday night at 3.3/10, according to final primetime national ratings from Nielsen. At 8p, CBS’ comedies The Big Bang Theory and Two and a Half Men led with an average of 4.0/13 followed by FOX’s American Idol at 3.1/10. Person of Interest kept CBS on top at 9p with a 2.9/8 and ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy came in second at 2.6/7. At 10p, CBS’ Elementary ranked first at 2.3/7, while Univision’s Amor Bravio finished second at 1.7/5.

Andy Forssell will step in as Hulu‘s acting CEO, when current CEO Jason Kilar exits at the end of this quarter. Forssell has been Senior Vice President of content at Hulu since 2007 and led its move into original programming in 2012. A permanent decision is expected to be made on a CEO once Disney and News Corp., who each earn a one-third interest in Hulu with Comcast, finalize their plans with Hulu.

Univision Communications Inc. has appointed John Kelly as Executive Vice President, Digital Sales. Kelly previously served as Senior Vice President of NBC Universal and Executive Vice President at CNBC.
