NBC ordered eight episodes of the competition series Still Standing (wt) based on an Israeli series of the same name that launched in that country last December. The premise of the game has contestants competing to out-guess ten rivals in ten fast-paced trivia battles. No firm premiere date was announced though it is likely Still Standing will debut in the summer. Universal Media Studios is producing.
More time is needed to create the visual effects for FOX’s upcoming series Terra Nova. The series was supposed to launch with a preview May 23 and now will roll-out in fall 2011. Kevin Reilly, FOX’s Entertainment President said on Friday, “Terra Nova is one of the most ambitious television series ever produced,” said Reilly in a statement. “The cutting-edge visual effects used to create the world of Terra Nova, which is of massive scope and scale, require more time to be realized. This aspect of the series is essential, so we are pushing back the special early preview date to give the visual effects team the time needed for their ground-breaking work.” Terra Nova is produced by 20th Century Fox Television, Chernin Entertainment, DreamWorks Television and Kapital Entertainment.
A sophomore season of LisaRaye: The Real McCoy opens on TV One April 7 at 9p with back-to-back episodes. The nine-episode second season is filmed in multiple locales such as Puerto Rico, Los Angeles, Chicago, Dallas and Las Vegas and continues to follow LisaRaye as she furthers her acting career, searches for Mr. Right, launches a new line of jeans and raises money for charity. Evolution Media produces the series for TV One.

Yesterday, Dish Network and LIN Media forged a new retransmission consent agreement which restored local television channels in 17 markets. The two companies had been in a stalemate which resulted in an eight-day blackout in those 17 markets for Dish’s customers. The terms of the new deal were not available. The 17 markets affected included: KASA-KRQE/Albuquerque; KXAN-KNVA/Austin; WIVB-WNLO/Buffalo; WWHO/Columbus; WDTN-WBDT/Dayton; WANE/Ft. Wayne; WOOD-WOTV/Grand Rapids; WLUK/Green Bay; WISH-WNDY/Indianapolis; WLFI/Lafayette; WALA-WFNA/Mobile; WTNH-WCTX/Hartford-New Haven; WAVY-WVBT/Norfolk; WPRI-WNAC/Providence; WWLP/Springfield, Mass.; WTHI/Terre Haute; and WUPW/Toledo.
MLB Network added to the lineup of AT&T U-verse. With this launch in place, MLB Network is now distributed in nearly 57 million homes.
Production begins in Nova Scotia April 1 for the second season of Syfy’s original series Haven. The 13 new episodes are slated to premiere this summer. Jason Priestley also is on board to direct one of the new episodes and to guest star in a four-episode run. Haven is produced by Entertainment One (eOne) is association with Piller/Segan/Shepherd.
Curb Your Enthusiasm’s Cheryl Hines will next star in ABC’s comedy pilot Suburgatory, cites EW. Warner Bros. Television is producing.
Scott Foley (Grey’s Anatomy, Cougar Town), Michael Boatman and Kyle MacLachlan were all tapped to joins CBS’ medical drama pilot The Doctor. Christine Lahti helms the project about a mom who reconnects with her grown children when she joins the family’s medical practice. Foley will play Lahti’s son, a talented surgeon who is not always perfect, while MacLachlan will play a partner in the family practice.
Noureen DeWulf cast in CBS’ drama pilot Hail Mary headlined by Minnie Driver and also starring Stephen Tobolowsky, per THR. DeWulf will play Ingrid. Recently, DeWulf had recurring roles on NBC’s Outsourced and TNT’s Hawthorne.
Paget Brewster (Criminal Minds) has two acting gigs in the works as she was just cast to play the female lead in NBC’s comedy pilot My Life as an Experiment produced by Jack Black. Brewster will play Stacie, magazine journalist A.J. Wilder’s (Jon Dore) spirited lawyer wife. Even though Brewster’s final episode of Criminal Minds will air on Wednesday, if the NBC pilot does not come through, Criminal Minds’ producers have invited her back as a series regular for next season.
Thursday A18-49 Analysis: FOX held its Thursday night winning streak at 5.0/14 with A18-49, according to final national ratings from Nielsen. American Idol was the victor at 8p with FOX posting a 6.7/19 followed by the comedies on CBS The Big Bang Theory and Rules of Engagement averaging a 3.3/10. FOX won the 9p hour as well with Bones at 3.2/9 and CBS placed second with CSI at 3.0/9. CBS reversed its fortune and ended up in first place during 10p with The Mentalist at 2.9/9 and Univision’s Triunfo del Amor next at 1.6/5 and Telemundo’s La Reina del Sur in a close third position at 1.5/5.
