CYNTHIA TURNER’S
Good morning. It’s Monday, June 27, 2005, and this is your first early morning briefing. 20th‘s syndication terms for the WB off-net series Reba was a 2-year straight barter deal. Beginning in January 2006, however, Reba will be part of the WB Network’s weekday afternoon block, airing twice during the 3-5pm time period. That WB deal calls for stations to get 4 minutes of inventory for the hour, with the rest of the barter time being sold by the network, and then splitting those with 20th. 20th is offering to replace the sitcom for those stations currently airing it in syndication with two others that are coming up: Family Guy and Still Standing. The move to switch from kids programming to off-net sitcoms was announced some time ago, and the time frame to begin that scheduling change is January 2005. * NEW ORDERS / DEVELOPMENT / PRODUCTION *
Paramount Network TV has signed showrunner Meredith Stiehm to a three year development deal. She is the creator and is currently the showrunner on the Warner Bros. TV/Jerry Bruckheimer/CBS series Cold Case, and will stick with that show for at least another year. MTV Networks has a slate of new shows in development, all unscripted series:

Nielsen Media Research’s Local People Meter (LPM) service is set to debut in three additional top 10 US markets with a 3-month trial period planned before the official launch. Dallas and Detroit will start their preliminary trial period in October with an official launch date in January. Atlanta will follow in April 2006 with its official debut in July. These three market launches will close out Nielsen’s goal of placing LPMs in the top 10 markets (including Boston, Chicago, LA, New York and San Francisco with Philadelphia and Washington, D.C. launching on June 30). A new series titled Torah Wisdom focusing on Jewish laws and customs will debut on Shalom TV’s programming. The network’s discovery series is geared both toward those with observation questions and those interested in Judaism with introductory episodes on beliefs and rituals. David Jasse served as the series’ exec producer with help from the Global Jewish Assistance and Relief Network, Jewish Children’s Museum, Kings County Hospital, REDKEN/L’Oreal, Smith Barney and Time Warner Cable. Weekend Box Office Estimates: June 24-26, 2005 Correction : Friday’s edition said CBS’ Big Brother would begin airing on July 6 — not so. It starts on July 7 at 8p. The Cut will begin airing on Wednesdays at 8p as of July 7. * EXECUTIVE MOVES*
Sony Pictures TV has named Bryan Bowles SVP/Pay TV, reporting to John Weiser, President/Sony Pictures TV, and working with Thanda Belker, VP/Pay TV.
