Syndicated talk show The Dr. Oz Show made three-year deals to take over The Oprah Winfrey Show’s 4p time period on Scripps’ ABC affiliates WXYZ in Detroit and WEWS in Cleveland starting with the 2011-2012 season. The one-hour show has now completed deals in six of the top 20 markets airing at 4p in all of those markets and as a lead-in to local news in five markets. Specifically in Detroit, Dr. Oz is switching from the NBC affiliate WDIV owned by Post-Newsweek to Scripps’ WXYZ/ABC and in Cleveland the show was reupped by WEWS though upgraded to Oprah’s 4p slot. The Dr. Oz Show is produced by Sony Pictures Television and Harpo Productions.

FOX’s upcoming drama Terra Nova picked Jason O’Mara for the role of Jim Shannon, the leader of a group of settlers who travel back in time to the prehistoric era to form a colony. O’Mara recently starred in ABC’s time travel series Life on Mars based on the UK series about a modern-day cop caught in the 1970s. 20th Century Fox TV, DreamWorks TV, Kapital Entertainment and Chernin Entertainment are producing Terra Nova with Steven Spielberg, Peter Chernin, Brannon Braga and David Fury as executive producers.

ABC Family has a new series in the works titled Shadows about a secret Harvard-based program that trains young spies, reports THR. Jesse Peyronel created the concept and will executive produce the project along with George Tillman Jr., Matthew Pritzker and Robert Teitel of State Street as well as co-creators Rene Rigal and Mal Young.
