The future beyond season two looks hazy for ABC Katie Couric talker Katie. It’s been reported that there’s been plenty of backstage drama since Jeff Zucker, who launched Katie in September 2012 and served as executive producer, exited in January 2013 to become worldwide president of CNN. While Katie tries to strike a balance between hard news and more standard daytime topics, most of the show’s station partners, mainly ABC affiliates, say the show hasn’t lived up to ratings expectations.

E!’s The Soup is getting a new comedy spinoff. Led by host Joel McHale, The Soup Investigates will delve deeper into the Hollywood scene and take on pop culture myths and rumors, with tongue-in-cheek investigative reporting. The new show premieres Wednesday, June 19 at 10:30p, following a new episode of The Soup at 10p.

Brooklyn DA is relocating to a new time slot. The CBS documentary series that follows the lives of employees in the Kings County District Attorney’s Office is moving from Tuesdays at 10p to Saturdays at 9p.

No more waiting to exhale. ASPiRE is set to premiere its first original weekly talk show exhale, a Black Robin Media production. Hosted by five African-American women — journalist Angela Burt-Murray; actress and comedian Erin Jackson; director, writer and actress Issa Rae; author and TV anchor Rene Syler; and actress Malinda Williams – the show will serve up conversation about topics affecting African American women. The eight-episode series premieres Thursday, June 27 at 8p, coinciding with the one-year anniversary of ASPiRE’s launch. Subsequent episodes will air Wednesdays at 8p starting July 10.

ABC Family Switched at Birth star Katie Leclerc and David Lambert of The Fosters will participate in live Twitter chats during the East Coast feeds of their series on Monday, June 17. Fans should tweet Leclerc at @KatieLeclerc from 8 to 9p and include the hashtag #SwitchedAtBirthChat. Lambert will chat from 9 to 10p. Fans should tweet him at @DGLambert and include the hashtag #TheFostersChat.

Save the date! The annual Cynopsis: Sports Business Summit is set to take place on Aug. 14 in NY, and will feature some of the biggest names in sports today. Starz has greenlit the drama Power. The series tells the story of James “Ghost” St. Patrick, a wealthy New York City nightclub owner who caters to the city’s elite. From executive producers Mark Canton and Randall Emmett in association with CBS Television Studios, the show’s first season will be eight one-hour episodes, with filming to begin in late 2013.

~ CASTING NEWS ~

Scott Foley has been upped to a series regular on ABC‘s Scandal. Foley joined the show during its second season as Jake, a mysterious military guy who was spying for Fitz.

George Wendt is set to guest star on the upcoming TV Land series Kirstie’s New Show, says the Hollywood Reporter. Wendt, who’ll reunite with Cheers alum Kirstie Allie and Rhea Perlman on the comedy, will portray Duke Bainbridge, Thelma’s (Perlman) cheating ex-husband.

It’s been reported that Jorge Garcia (Lost) has been tapped for a guest spot on Hawaii Five-0. He’ll play a conspiracy theorist on the CBS drama.

Four of Grey’s Anatomy‘s interns are returning for the show’s tenth season. Gaius Charles, Tessa Ferrer, Jerrika Hinton and Camilla Luddington, have all been promoted to series regulars.

Thursday A18-49 Analysis:  ABC came out on top with the A18-49 viewers Thursday at 3.3/11, according to final primetime national ratings from Nielsen. FOX’s Hell’s Kitchen led at 8p at 2.0/7. CBS’ The Big Bang Theory and Two and A Half Men combined for second at 1.8/7.  At 9p, ABC’s NBA Finals was #1 at 5.8/19, followed by Univision’s Amores Verdaderos at 1.8/6. ABC’s NBA Finals continued in the top spot at 10p at 7.2/22. Univision’s Que Bonito Amor trailed at 1.4/4.
