~ PRODUCTION & DEVELOPMENT ~

Hallmark Channel and Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia are producing the third season of Whatever, Martha! hosted by Alexis Stewart and Jennifer Koppelman Hutt to air on Hallmark Channel. During each half-hour episode, Alexis and Jennifer, who also co-host the Sirius/XM daily talk show Whatever!, view older episodes of The Martha Stewart Show going back to the first season and offer their colorful and witty opinions about Martha Stewart and her projects. The third season begins production this week with the new episodes debuting next year. The duo will also host a new, though as of yet untitled, daily talk show for Hallmark Channel slated to premiere September 13.

Veteran actor Edward Asner joins CMT’s comedy pilot Regular Joe playing Joe’s (Tom Arnold) dad who has a gruff demeanor and is back in the dating pool after separating from his wife of many years, reports THR. Additionally, the network cast Liza Snyder (Yes, Dear) in a leading role on the same pilot playing Marine, Joe’s smart and funny wife.

Maura Tierney is returning to TV in ABC’s new legal drama The Whole Truth, cites EW. The former ER actress is replacing Joely Richardson who bowed out of the show recently to spend more time with her family. In The Whole Truth, Tierney will play Kathryn Peale, a deputy bureau chief in the Manhattan District Attorney’s office. She’ll star opposite Rob Morrow who plays Kathryn’s nemesis, a rising criminal attorney Jimmy Brogan.

Showtime tapped Joanne Whalley as the female lead in The Borgias, starring opposite Jeremy Irons as Vanossa, mother of the Borgia children whose father is Rodrigo Borgia (Irons) before he became pope. The Borgias is set to debut next year.

Also at Showtime, Brian Cox will play Laura Linney’s father in the upcoming comedy The Big C set to premiere August 16 following the sixth season debut of Weeds, per THR.

After initially appearing in the pilot, Stephen Collins (7th Heaven) has signed on as a regular on ABC’s new dramedy No Ordinary Family headlined by Michael Chiklis and Julie Benz. Stephen will play Benz’s boss.  No word from Stephen if he will have any super powers. Good to have you back on TV Stephen!

Casting Call: A major cable TV network seeks energetic and environmentally-aware families living in the suburban Chicago, Washington, D.C. and Nashville areas, who have outdated kitchen and/or laundry appliances. Selected families, who must own their homes, will appear on television and receive updated, environmentally-friendly appliances.
