~ PRODUCTION & DEVELOPMENT ~

Ice-T, in a recent Tweet, said he solidified a two-year deal to return for season 13 of NBC’s Law & Order: SVU as well as a 14th season, if the series is renewed.  Chris Meloni, who announced his departure from the show last month, has not yet been replaced.

Gugu Mbatha-Raw, formerly on the drama Undercovers, landed a role on FOX’s drama pilot Touch starring opposite Kiefer Sutherland.  Mbatha-Raw will play a social worker with child and family services who analyzes the father’s (Sutherland) autistic, mute son’s living conditions.  Danny Glover was also recently cast as the son’s teacher and David Mazouz will play the son.  Production on Touch is held up because of Sutherland’s starring turn on Broadway in the revival of That Championship Season.  FOX will likely then launch Touch in midseason.

A new miniseries co-production is in the works between HBO and BBC2 on I, Claudius based on the 1934 autobiography of Roman Emperor Claudius and its sequel, Claudius the God.  BBC Worldwide Productions’ Jane Tranter and Anne Thomopoulos , who were both involved in HBO’s drama series Rome, will serve as executive producers of the revamped version of I, Claudius.  BBC Television famously adapted I, Claudius in 1976 which aired in the US as part of PBS’ Masterpiece Theatre starring Derek Jacobi as Claudius.  The 1976 adaptation earned three Emmy nominations.

Casting Call:  Reality series Fear Factor is getting a re-boot and is now casting for teams of two to participate in the game show.  Married couples, siblings, parent/child duos, best friends, co-workers, teammates, roommates to even ex’s living in the greater Los Angeles area are invited to apply.  An open casting call is scheduled for June 18 from 2p to 6p at Crunch Fitness in Los Angeles. For more details on applying for the show, please visit: www.fearfactorcasting.com.
