ESPN‘s premiere of its newest original series Tilt drew in 2.0 million viewers last Thursday night, earning a 1.6 HH Rtg according to Nielsen Media Research.

Premiering Tonight:
ABC:  Supernanny at 10p
MTV:  The Osbournes at 1030p

Starz Encore Group has ordered ten more 30-second shorts featuring animated bunnies spoofing Hollywood classics, from Angry Alien Prods. The spots will be seen on Starz, Starz on Demand and Starz Ticket on Real Movies.

CBS newcomer Wickedly Perfect kicked off a Thursday night for CBS with a 3.0/8 A18-49 according to final numbers from Nielsen Media Research, third behind The O.C. on Fox (3.2/9) and the time period winning fare on NBC: Joey 5.0/14, and newbie Committed 4.6/12.  CSI owned, nay dominated, the 9p hour with a 9.5/24, while ER carried the 10p hour with a 8.3/21 for NBC.  Without A Trace had a run at it with a 6.1/16.

The premiere of Fox‘s Johnny Zero on Friday night at 9pm delivered a 2.2/6 A18-49 according to fast affiliate numbers from Nielsen Media Research.  That rating placed the show tied for #2 in the time period, behind ABC sitcoms which was tied with NBC’s Third Watch (2.8/8), and in a share tie with CBS’ JAG (1.9/6).  NBC’s freshman series Medical Investigation continues steadily in its 10p time period, winning the hour with a 3.1/9, in front of CBS and ABC, each earning an 8 share.

Saturday night’s NFC Divisional Playoff scored on Fox with an overall 8.7/24 in fast affiliate (time period only) ratings according to Nielsen Media Research.  NBC’s multi-network simultaneous benefit for victims of the Tsunami aired wall to wall on Saturday evening, and on the NBC broadcast network it averaged a 2.0/6 demo rating.  CBS was #2 for the night with a 3.5/10, followed by ABC with US Figure Skating (1.5/4).

Television Critics Association (TCA) Updates:  The TCA is going on now and broadcast and cable networks are making their annual presentations to the press of new series and specials for the upcoming here. 

HGTV:

  • reDesign is set to premiere on March 3 with host/designer Kenneth Brown.  Brown works with clients explaining the design process, following the project from start to end, offering tricks of the trade and insights as to how the designer works.

Lifetime:

  • You’re Not the Man I Married (Optomen Prods) is a new reality show announced at TCA for Lifetime, scheduled to debut in 2nd or 3rd qtr this year. In an attempt to restore the passion in a couple’s marriage, the husband must confront and surmount a series of comedic challenges.

MTV:

  • PowerR Girls featuring Lizzie Grubman will debut on MTV on March 10, focusing on the backstage goings on of major league publicists as they work and play in NYC, The Hamptons, LA and Miami.
  • Meet the Barkers, reality series following the lives of Blink 182’s Travis Barker and his new wife, actress and former Miss USA Shanna Moakler (can you say, Newlyweds?), and their family and as they learn to combine his music, their Hollywood life and parenthood.  MTV has ordered 10 eps to launch in April.
  • Trippin follows Cameron Diaz as she travels the world exploring the exotic and unique locales on earth, and learning the best ways to protect and preserve them. The first of 10 eps kicks off on March 28.

GSN (formerly Game Show Network):

  • Anything to Win (Creative Differences) is a documentary series chronicling the lengths some people will go to win – sometimes successfully, sometimes not so much.
  • No Limit 9 Ball (Sokolobl Ent) featuring pool sharks playing in winner take all episodes for $20k.  Sal Masekela, known best from X Games, hosts the 13 week run, each episode showcasing four players.
  • Casino Night kicks off on January 21, a programming block which will include the premiere of Poker Royale: Battle of the Sexes at 9p and season #2 of World Series of Blackjack at 10p, with Celebrity Blackjack rounding out the night at 11p.

Spike TV:

  • Invasion Iowa (Reese Wernick Prods/GRB Ent) stars William Shatner it a total sham on a little town that thinks Hollywood has arrived to film an independent sci-fi film, with a totally dysfunction cast and crew. Billed as a mini-series, the show debuts on March 29, and ends on April Fool’s Day.
  • The Lance Krall Show is a group of friends/comedians led by Lance Krall, armed with a camera, out spoofing and improvising and making non-scripted television in a slew of original bits.  The show debuts this spring.

TV Land:

  • Chasing Farrah (Windmill Prods) debuts this March, a reality show starring Farrah Fawcett as she goes about her daily business, life, travels with her entourage and life.  Six eps have been ordered.

Inkworks has acquired the licensing rights to produce trading cards for HBO‘s The Sopranos.  Inkworks first trading card set featuring the series will be The Sopranos: Season One Premium Trading Cards, which is set for release June 2005.  The set will include character cards and complete episodic coverage of the first season of the series, as well as several levels of randomly inserted bonus cards including autographs.

Chip Shenkan, local sales manager at WBDC/Washington, DC has been upped to GSM.  The announcement was made by Pres/GM Eric Meyrowitz and is effective immediately.

WonderGroup has named David Lansanah its new Director of Research Design and Analysis, a newly-created position. He will be responsible for the strategic design, development and maintenance of the agency’s research offerings.

Paul Buccieri has been named President/Programming of Twentieth Television, as announced by Bob Cook, president and COO of Twentieth Television. Paul will be responsible for overseeing all first-run program development and production on behalf of Twentieth Television, reporting to Cook and based in LA.

Christopher Grakal has been upped to VP/Turner Broadcasting System, Inc. Image Management group.  Christopher is charged with day-to-day responsibility of the company’s Image Management Production and Digital Asset Management areas, which provide traditional and digital photographic production, editing, research and archiving services to TBS, Inc. networks and businesses including TBS, TNT, Turner Classic Movies, Cartoon Network, Turner South, CNN, Turner Sports, the Atlanta Braves and TBS, Inc. Corporate.  Grakal also oversees the TBS, Inc. photo archive of some 3.5 million images and works with representatives of other Time Warner-owned divisions on media asset management issues.  He is based in Atlanta at Turner Broadcasting headquarters and reports to Barbara Griffin, SVP/Image Management for TBS, Inc.

Jim Roche has been upped to Director of On-Air Operations for Weigel Broadcasting in Chicago.  Chicago based operations include WCIU, WWME and WFBT (Chicago) as well as WMWB, WBND and WAAT (South Bend, Indiana).
