A&E reintroduces viewers to award-winning actress Kirstie Alley in the new real-life series Kirstie Alley’s Big Life, premiering March 21 at 10p with two back-to-back episodes. The series will take a look inside the actresses’ busy life as a single mom raising two teenagers in Hollywood, her continuing battle with weight loss and her many business ventures including producing a feature film. FremantleMedia North America produces the series for A&E.

Fuse is rebroadcasting its special Fuse & NBA All-Star Double Team, a mix of current music videos and the 2010 NBA All-Stars, this Thursday at 7p. The special originally aired yesterday at 11a.

Andrea Wong, President/CEO with Lifetime Networks announced in an email to staffers on Friday, she is exiting the company. Wong’s departure has been expected following the network’s acquisition by A&E Television Networks where cable networks A&E, History, Bio, Lifetime and Lifetime Movie Network all operate under AETN with A&E’s Abbe Raven previously selected to oversee the new structure. Wong will remain with the company for a few weeks during a transition period.

Ryan O’Hara, President of TV Guide Network is leaving his position to take on a new prospect in New York. O’Hara has served in this role since 2005, taking the network in new directions with its content strategy including acquiring shows such as Ugly Betty and Curb Your Enthusiasm and developing a slate of original programs. TV Guide Network was purchased by Lionsgate nine months ago.

~ DISTRIBUTION, CLEARANCE & CARRIAGE ~

Sinclair Television Group, Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sinclair Broadcast Group and Cool Music Network, LLC announced the new 24/7 music network TheCoolTV will be carried in 34 Sinclair markets as well as via multiple platforms. With this agreement in place, TheCoolTV will reach 24 million homes, representing around 22% of the US. The network’s programming includes a combination of videos and live concerts along with a local flavor referred to as “Hyper-Localized” with customized programming featuring local demographics, music events and local artists. Sinclair plans on launching the channel in the next few months.

~ PRODUCTION & DEVELOPMENT ~

Henry Winkler returns to television in a recurring role on USA Network’s drama Royal Pains. In the series’ 18-episode second season, Winkler will play Eddie R. Lawson, the absentee father to Hank (Mark Feuerstein) and Evan (Paulo Costanzo). Winkler’s character, Lawson arrives suddenly in the Hamptons to be part of his sons’ lives and to make up for lost time.

In other casting news, per THR, Laura Prepon (That ’70s Show) will star along with Danny Wallace in the ABC comedy Awkward Situations for Men. The plot centers on British on-air personality Wallace starring as himself moving to the US with his wife Meg (Prepon) and finding out his British mannerisms clash with American values. Bret Harrison (Reaper) was chosen as the lead for FOX’s untitled Adam Goldberg comedy about 20-something geniuses (Harrison being one) who hack into computer security systems. And, Michael Kelly (The Sopranos) was tapped for CBS’ Criminal Minds spin-off playing a member of the new profiler squad led by Cooper (Forest Whitaker).

ABC picked up the comedy pilot Wright vs. Wrong written by comedian Stephanie Weir (MadTV) about a female Republic pundit. The single-camera project is from Sony Television and Tantamount with Tantamount’s Eric Tannenbaum, Kim Tannenbaum and Mitch Hurwitz executive producing; Weir will co-executive produce.

~ RATINGS ~

Thursday  A18-49 Analysis: ABC tallied the first win of the February Sweep Thursday night at 3.1/9 A18-49, according to final national ratings from Nielsen. FOX led the 8p hour with Bones at 3.3/10 followed by CBS’ special Surviving Survivors at 2.4/7. ABC had the cure during 9p with Grey’s Anatomy at 4.5/12 while NBC’s comedies The Office and 30 Rock averaged a 3.3/9 in second place. Then at 10p, ABC nicked in a win with Private Practice at 3.3/10 just a tenth of a share point ahead of CBS’ The Mentalist at 3.3/9.

NBC named Enrique Guillen as VP/Alternative Programming and Production, NBC Entertainment. Enrique comes from Telemundo Studios where he served as VP/Alternative Programming and Operations. In his new role at NBC, he will be in charge of developing new programming for the network and Universal Media Studios as well as managing current franchises. Additionally, NBC promoted Nicole Silveira to Manager/Alternative Series and Specials, NBC Entertainment. Nicole will be involved with the development slate and current series in the Alternative Programming unit.
