New series Hair Divas: Hollywood will debut on WE tv June 7 at 9p. The original series highlights the work and life of celebrity hair stylist Kim Kimble who counts such celebrities as Beyonce, Mary J. Blige, Kelly Rowland and Shakira as clients. WE tv ordered eight one-hour episodes from 3 Ball Productions/Eyeworks USA.
Mnet, the US television network for Asian Americans presents a new set, new segments and an interview with Wonder Girls on Hello Pop!, the weekday show for American K-pop fans to meet and interact premiering tonight at 7p. Mnet is available nationally to subscribers of Verizon FiOS and other cable providers such as Comcast, Time Warner Cable, Cox and Charter.
Comcast Spotlight, the advertising sales unit of Comcast Cable has opened a new Western Division Operations Management Center (OMC) in Englewood. OMC will oversee operations in seven states and twelve markets in the Western US. OMC has added 104 staff including internal transfers and outside hires.
Spanish-language cable network, Galavision reported its finale of Los Heroes del Norte (Heroes of the North) delivered 277,000 total viewers; 213,000 among A18-49 and 103,000 with A18-49. Galavision will air an encore of the finale this Friday in primetime.
Veteran syndication executive, Brian Davidson died this past Saturday. Mr. Davidson was with MGM most recently and held prior positions at King World, GTG, Multimedia and FremantleMedia. Mr. Davidson’s wake will take place at Gleason’s Funeral Home in Bayside, Queens New York this evening from 7-9p and the funeral will be this Tuesday at Sacred Heart Church in Queens New York at 10a.

Acorn Media, ITV and Eleventh Hour Films are teaming to produce an eighth new season of Foyle’s War with Michael Kitchen continuing as the WWII era British detective. The last season of Foyle’s War aired on PBS’ Mystery! in May 2010 though the US broadcaster for this new season is still being finalized. Acorn Media acquired permanent ownership of Foyle’s War in November 2010 including DVD, underlying intellectual property rights, online streaming, download-to-own and broadcast television. The new season will be set during the early period following WWII with Foyle in his new role as Senior Intelligence Officer. Three two-hour episodes have been ordered from Eleventh Hour Films and production will begin in London this September. The new season episodes are slated to air in the UK and the US in 2013.
Comedian Lily Tomlin is joining Reba McEntire’s comedy pilot for ABC produced by ABC Studios. Tomlin will play McEntire’s mother in the project.
Former Brothers & Sisters cast member Dave Annable is staying put with ABC and was tapped for the drama thriller pilot 666 Park Avenue. Annable will play one half of a young couple that becomes managers of an historic apartment building in New York City that is filled with supernatural occurrences. Recently-announced Terry O’Quinn (Lost) is also involved as a co-star in the pilot.
Emilie de Ravin (Lost) landed a co-starring role on ABC’s soap drama pilot Americana. The drama is about famous fashion designer Robert Soulter (Anthony LaPaglia) whose family and fashion empire is turned on end by the arrival of a new young visionary. De Ravin will portray Francesca, Robert’s fashion savvy and powerful daughter. Currently, de Ravin has a recurring role on ABC’s Once Upon a Time playing Belle.
Scottish actor/singer Darius Campbell was tapped to play the “beast” in ABC’s Beauty and the Beast pilot. Campbell’s role is Shiro, a beastly bodyguard who forms an unlikely bond with an embattled princess named Grace (role has not been cast yet).
Also for ABC, a trio of actors was cast in Shonda Rhimes’ period pilot Gilded Lilys about the first luxury hotel in New York City set in 1895: Matt Long, Maury Sterling and Brigid Brannagh.
Sitcom veteran Doris Roberts (Everybody Loves Raymond) landed the role of Aunt Lee in ABC’s multi-camera comedy Counter Culture about three aging sisters who together run their West Texas family diner. Sony Pictures Television is producing.
The untitled cowboy drama for CBS has cast Dennis Quaid and Michael Chiklis. The actors will co-star in the 1960s-era drama based on the true story of Ralph Lamb, a rodeo cowboy-turned-longtime sheriff in Las Vegas. Quaid will play Lamb and Chiklis will play Johnny Savino, a Chicago mob fixer whose entrepreneurial vision for transforming Las Vegas collides with Sheriff Lamb’s law and order rule. Both Quaid and Chiklis will also serve as co-EPs on the project. This project represents the first time Quaid will star in a series for television.
Martin Lawrence makes a comeback to television via a CBS untitled multi-camera comedy pilot where he will star as a 46-year old widowed father of two, who decides to enter the police academy to become a cop. Michael Green and Sam Maydew are on board as writers and EPs. Lawrence previously starred in the 1990s comedy Martin.
Gregory Peck’s grandson, Ethan Peck will star opposite Aimee Teegarden in The CW’s drama pilot The Selection. The project is based on an upcoming book series by Kiera Cass, described as an epic romance set 300 years in the future. Warner Bros. Television is producing.
FOX’s comedy pilot The Goodwin Games added Scott Foley (Felicity) to co-star opposite Becki Newton. The plot is about three siblings whose father wills them a fortune only if they agree to his terms. Foley will play Henry, one of the three siblings; Newton will play his sister. 20th Television is producing.
Bill Pullman (Independence Day) will play the President of the US again, this time in NBC’s single-camera White House comedy titled 1600 Penn, starring and produced by Josh Gad. Brittany Snow will also join the sitcom playing Becca, the overachieving and perfectionist eldest daughter of the President (Pullman) while Gad plays her gregarious and clumsy older brother Skip.
Shaun Cassidy’s Western drama pilot The Frontier has tagged Chaske Spencer to play Eli, a cook who is traveling west from Missouri with his mentally unstable aunt, Luisa. The drama is set in the 1840s.
David Morrissey is joining AMC’ The Walking Dead as the Governor, a character that becomes the primary antagonist for Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) and his group. Morrissey’s character will begin in the third season which commences production this spring in Atlanta on 16 episodes ordered by AMC. Currently, the second season of The Walking Dead airs on Sundays at 9p on AMC.
