~ MORE GOOD STUFF ~

Two of CBS’ midseason shows are sporting new titles.  Rob Schneider’s new sitcom which was first titled iRob! has been simplified to Rob.  CBS may still use an exclamation point for marketing reasons for the sitcom but it won’t be the show’s official title.  The other midseason show switching its title is the cop drama that was called The 2-2 which will now be called NYC 22.

Due to financial reasons, the public television program Ebert Presents: At the Movies will go on hiatus at the end of this month.  The movie review program was produced and primarily funded by Roger Ebert and his wife, Chaz Ebert and was a continuation of the Chicago Sun-Times film critic’s previous shows, Sneak Previews, At the Movies and Siskel & Ebert.  The Eberts said in a blog post last week they could no longer finance the show and are presently looking for new sponsors.  By the end of December the show, hosted by film critics Christy Lemire of the Associated Press and Ignatiy Vishnevetsky of Mubi.com will have aired 50 episodes.

Comedy Central set its midseason schedule including the premiere of one new and several returning series:

  • The Daily Show with Jon Stewart and The Colbert Report are back with new seasons starting January 3 at 11p and 1130p respectively.  Both shows will also kick off Indecision 2012 from the primary season through the elections.
  • JB Smoove and Russell Simmons reunite for a new season of Russell Simmons Presents The Ruckus with a two episode premiere on January 26 at 10p and 1030p.
  • A fourth season of Tosh.0 debuts January 31 at 10p followed by the new original sketch comedy series launch of Key & Peele at 1030p.
  • Season sixteen of South Park premieres March 14 at 10p.
  • Comedy Central acquired It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia and will air an hour’s worth of season seven episodes on Mondays at 10p starting January 16.
