On January 16 at 930p, NBC will air a special preview of the upcoming new hidden-camera series, Betty White’s Off Their Rockers where senior citizens pull pranks on unsuspecting younger people. The series preview will air directly after a 90-minute special NBC will air at 8p to honor Betty White’s 90th birthday titled, Betty White’s 90th Birthday: A Tribute to America’s Golden Girl featuring top names in Hollywood and some of her well-known co-stars. The special airs the day before White’s actual birthday.

British chef Jamie Oliver takes a food journey across the US in the new BBC America series Jamie’s American Road Trip, premiering January 3 at 10p. In the new six-episode series, Oliver will discover places, ingredients, food culture, traditions and more from New York to New Orleans and Los Angeles to Wyoming. Jamie’s American Road Trip is produced by Fresh One Production and is distributed internationally by FremantleMedia Enterprises.

~ DISTRIBUTION, CARRIAGE, & CLEARANCE ~

Asian American music entertainment network, MYX TV is available for free in the San Diego market to customers who subscribe to Cox Advanced TV. MYX TV is also available to Cox subscribers in Orange County, Palos Verdes and San Pedro.

~ PRODUCTION & DEVELOPMENT ~

FX ordered a period drama pilot titled The Americans created by Joe Weisberg about a complicated marriage between two KGB spies posing as Americans in suburban Washington, D.C. in the early 1980s. Despite Phillip and Elizabeth Jennings having an arranged marriage with two children, their relationship grows more passionate and real each day though is tested by the rising Cold War and Phillip’s growing love of America’s values and lifestyle. Weisberg will serve as Executive Producer with Graham Yost, who is also the EP/Showrunner of FX’s series Justified. Justin Falvey and Darryl Frank, Co-Presidents of DreamWorks Television are also on board as EPs. Fox Television Studios and FX Productions are producing the pilot.

Alicia Silverstone makes a comeback on television and at the same time reunites with her former Clueless cast mate Jeremy Sisto on ABC’s Suburgatory. Silverstone will be seen in multiple episodes of Suburgatory playing Eden, a potential love interest for Sisto’s single dad character, George. Previously, Silverstone starred in NBC’s Miss Match in 2003.

When The CW’s series Ringer returns with new episodes on January 31, Matthew Del Negro (TNT’s Rizzoli & Isles) joins the series soon after in the recurring role of Agent Grady Torrance, reports EW. Del Negro’s character will clash with Agent Machado (Nestor Carbonell) and is described as overly-confident, slick and smooth. Del Negro’s first appearance is slated for the March 6 episode.

~ RATINGS ~

Thursday A18-49 Analysis: CBS continued in the top berth position Thursday with the A18-49 viewers at 2.8/8, according to final national ratings from Nielsen. Competition was close at 8p with FOX’s The X-Factor taking the lead at 2.9/9 and CBS’ comedies The Big Bang Theory and Rules of Engagement was a close second with an average of 2.8/9. CBS was #1 at 9p with Person of Interest at 2.8/8 and Univision’s La Fuerza del Destino was next at 2.1/6. Then at 10p, CBS won with The Mentalist at 2.7/8 and ABC’s special The Year with Katie Couric was #2 at 1.5/4.

~ EXECUTIVE MOVES ~

Scot Linden takes on the new role as GSM with Entravision Communications Corporation for its Univision and other Spanish-language television stations in the San Diego market. Scot will head the company’s local, regional and national sales activities in San Diego and with their sales teams.

Canada’s Fox/Incendo Television added Michael McLaughlin as VP/Program Sales for English Canada. Michael will be in charge of program sales for Twentieth Century Fox’s library of series and films in addition to content through Incendo suppliers including Content Media, GRB Entertainment, the Playboy Channel, the Spartacus series from Starz Network and TV movies produced by Incendo. Prior to this appointment, Michael was with Skywriter Media and Entertainment Group as President.
