Daytime talk show, The Talk on CBS is mixing up its hosting talent as Leah Remini will not be a part of the show’s second season. Remini, the former star of CBS’ sitcom The King of Queens confirmed her status with The Talk via Twitter saying she was not asked to return. It is further being reported other co-host Holly Robinson-Peete may also not return. Kris Jenner, mother to the famous Kardashians, will be joining The Talk for two weeks early in the season. In addition, comedienne Sheryl Underwood will become a co-host for the beginning of the new season and could be named a regular. Julie Chen and show creator Sara Gilbert also serve as co-hosts.
Season two of Mira Quien Baila! (Look Who’s Dancing!) premieres on Univision Network September 11 at 8p. Seven out of ten celebrities have signed on to compete in the reality dance show for $100,000 which will be given to the winner’s favorite charity. Those celebrities currently booked include Blue Demon Jr., Jose Manuel Figueroa, Alejandro Chaban, Elizabeth Gutierrez, Stephanie Salas and Adamari Lopez, along with previously announced actor Erik Estrada. Univision will reveal the full contingent of celebrities competing on Mira Quien Baila! during a primetime special September 1 at 8p. The show, a co-production of Univision Studios and Endemol, is hosted by Javier Poza and Chiquinquira Delgado.
Hour-long Western-themed drama series Longmire received a first season order from A&E Network. The drama was picked up with 10 episodes and stars Robert Taylor (Matrix) in the series’ title role as a charismatic Wyoming sheriff who possess a dry wit. Katee Sackhoff also stars as Vic, one of Longmire’s deputies along with Cassidy Freeman as Longmire’s daughter, Lou Diamond Phillips as his best friend and Bailey Chase as another deputy. Longmire is based on the Walt Longmire Mystery series of novels by Craig Johnson.
BBC America debuts a four-week run of its crime drama Luther next month beginning September 28 at 10p. The series, starring Idris Elba playing Det. Chief Inspector John Luther, will air in four parts as part of the network’s weekly drama slot, Dramaville which is also hosted by Elba. Luther comes after the 1950s-set espionage series The Hour in the Dramaville slot on Wednesdays at 10p. After Luther, Dramaville premieres the new crime thriller, Whitechapel on October 26 which is then followed by an encore broadcast of the conspiracy drama, State of Play starting December 7. Incidentally, UK’s BBC Two just renewed The Hour for a second season containing six episodes. The sophomore season’s plot will take place ten months after the first season concludes.
Later this fall, TV Land opens a third season of Hot In Cleveland November 30 at 10p followed by the series launch of The Exes at 1030p. The Exes, written and executive produced by Mark Reisman (Frasier) stars Donald Faison, Wayne Knight, David Alan Basche and Kristen Johnston.
Last Wednesday, MTV aired the season finale of The Challenge: Rivals which drew 2.4 million total viewers and delivered a 2.4 rating among P12-34. MTV furthermore announced a 22nd season pick-up of The Challenge: Rivals slated to premiere in 2012.
Also last Wednesday, Syfy debuted the 7.5 season launch of Ghost Hunters at 9p which attracted 1.65 million total viewers; 952,000 with A18-49; and 937,000 with A25-54.

FOX approved a presentation and script from Ryan Reynolds for the animated series And Then There Was Gordon about an average kid whose siblings and mother are super smart. Reynolds would be one of the voice talents on the show as well as a producer and Sandra Bullock may lend her voice to the project as she is currently in negotiations to produce and voice. Reynolds is additionally writing the script with Allan Loeb.
Breckin Meyer is staying with Turner Broadcasting’s cable networks as TBS has ordered a comedy pilot from the star of TNT’s Franklin & Bash. The multi-camera comedy is titled Men at Work about four buddies working at a magazine and their office adventures and escapades outside of work. Men at Work is produced by Sony with Jamie Tarses on board as an executive producer. Meyer also is a writer and voice talent on Adult Swim’s Robot Chicken.
Correction: In last Friday’s edition, we mistakenly identified the series Pretty Little Liars on the wrong network. Pretty Little Liars airs on ABC Family. We regret the error.
Thursday A18-49 Analysis: CBS gained a foothold on Thursday night with a 2.0/6 among A18-49, according to final national ratings from Nielsen. Univision’s Teresa captivated the viewers at 8p with a 1.9/6 and CBS’ repeat comedies The Big Bang Theory and Rules of Engagement averaged a second place showing at 1.8/6. Big Brother on CBS then took control during 9p with a 3.1/9 and Univision slid to #2 with La Fuerza del Destino at 2.1/6. Univision claimed another win of the night at 10p with Mujeres Asesinas 3 at 1.3/4 and ABC’s Rookie Blue was next in line by posting a 1.2/3.
