The second season of Don’t Trust the B—- in Apt. 23 on ABC added Ben Lawson as a love interest for Krysten Ritter’s character Chloe. Lawson will recur during the second season as Jonathan and will first appear in the Halloween episode.
ABC further gave script orders to three diverse drama projects, per THR. In development is Finn & Sawyer, a contemporary twist on Mark Twain’s classic novel, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn from Jason Richman and David Zabel. The project is described as an adventure about the two literary characters as they reunite as young men in their 20s and form an investigative firm in New Orleans. Richman and Zabel will write and serve as EPs produced by ABC Studios and Temple Hill Entertainment. ABC also picked up The Outsiders, a family drama from Ken Biller (Smallville). This project is based on a true story about a woman who moves with her family from Atlanta to New York to begin a new life and ends up becoming the de facto mother to nine underprivileged kids. ABC Studios is producing. The third project is a supernatural mystery titled Gothica about a woman seeking her own identity in modern-day San Francisco where she discovers a world of supernatural mystery and horror led by a charismatic playboy named Dorian Gray. Matt Lopez is on board as writer and EP along with Mark Gordon Co.’s Mark Gordon and Nicholas Pepper.
NBC’s spinoff of The Office titled The Farm cast Majandra Delfino (Roswell, Quarterlife) in the role as Fannie Schrute. The comedy is about Dwight Schrute (Rainn Wilson) who is a beet farmer and owner of a bed and breakfast inn. Fannie is Dwight’s super left-thinking younger sister who previously fled from the Schrute farm to live in Boston.
Also for NBC’s midseason drama Do No Harm, based on Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, Samm Levine will reprise his role and become a recurring character following his guest-starring turn in the pilot episode. Levine’s character is Josh, an administrative assistant to the brilliant neurosurgeon, Dr. Jason Cole (Steven Pasquale) who wrestles with his dangerous alter-ego.
In a much anticipated casting, Ciaran Hinds landed the role as Wilding leader Mance Rayder, the King Beyond the Wall in HBO’s Game of Thrones. To date, Rayder’s character has been referenced to on the series but never seen. Hinds has been in many films including Munich (2005) and Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy (2011) though is familiar with TV viewers as Julius Caesar in the HBO series Rome and most recently playing the former POTUS in USA Network’s Political Animals.
Showtime’s one-hour series Shameless from John Wells will see Vanessa Bell Calloway returning for the drama’s third season. Calloway will appear in close to half of the third season’s episodes as well as the season finale playing Carol, the mother of Veronica. Production is currently happening on Shameless which is slated to premiere the new season in 2013.
BET’s comedy pilot What Would Dylan Do (wt) hired former Destiny’s Child singer Kelly Rowland in the role as Dylan, a struggling Los Angeles-based relationship blogger who lives with her BFF Cherise (Gabrielle Dennis) and a wealthy, divorced roommate Brooke (Melanie Liburd). Brandon Scott will play Dylan’s neighbor and Cherise’s boyfriend Ryan.
