Good morning. It’s Monday, April 22, 2013, and this is your first early morning Sports briefing.

Gary R. Stevenson, who was hired to oversee the launch of Pac-12’s national, regional and digital networks, is departing his role as President of Pac-12 Enterprises, according to the league. With the move, Commissioner Larry Scott named Lydia Murphy-Stephans, who has been Executive Vice President and General Manager of Pac-12 Networks, to the role as President of Pac-12 Networks.

On the Air

The seventh UFC on FOX event on Saturday drew 3.31 million viewers and delivered a 1.5 in the 18-49 demo, according to Nielsen fast nationals and once again captured the demo’s crown for the evening. Those numbers are off slightly from January’s high-rated UFC on FOX 6 event which drew 3.77 million viewers on the fast nationals and a 1.8 in 18-49s. Those numbers should change, however, as more data comes in.

Speaking of the promotion, FUEL TV reports that UFC’s The Ultimate Fighter didn’t just set records for FX when the season wrapped up two weeks ago. TUF Prelims on FUEL TV on Saturday, April 13 scored as the network’s most-watched and highest rated UFC prelims of all time, with 269,000 total viewers as well as 0.56 HH rating and a 0.80 M18-49 rating. The live, action-filled three-hour program on Saturday evening was the 13th UFC prelims telecast on FUEL TV. Compared to the TUF 16 Finale Prelims on Saturday, December 14, the broadcast rose 180% on total viewers.

Famed NBC Sunday Night Football announcer Al Michaels was reportedly arrested in Southern California on Friday night for suspicion of driving under the influence. CNN reports that Michaels was charged with misdemeanor DUI and spent around five hours in the Santa Monica City Jail before being released early Saturday morning on his own recognizance.

For the third consecutive year, current NFL players have voted to determine the top 100 players in the league. NFL Network will unveil the rankings starting this Saturday at 8p with The Top 100 Players of 2013, right after the channel’s coverage of the draft. Players 100-91 will be featured in the first episode with 11 shows that will culminate on June 27 at 8p with the top 10.

While we’re on the NFL, here are a few scheduling nuggets that didn’t get space last Friday. Thanksgiving games this year will once again feature an NFL tripleheader on Thursday, Nov. 28. Game one will air on FOX, pitting the Packers/Lions on FOX at 12:30p. CBS takes the ball at 4:30p with Raiders/Cowboys, before NBC offers the primetime Steelers/Ravens game at 8:30. NFL Network’s 13 Thursday night games will start on the second week of the season on Thursday, September 12 at 8:25p with the Jets/Patriots. Also, a clarification on FOX’s lineup, as the broadcaster will offer 59 games this year featuring at least one of last season’s playoff teams, with 105 regular-season games overall, including nine editions of America’s Game of the Week.

NBC Sports Network’s latest Wednesday Night Rivalry matchup between the Sabres and Bruins, scored 847,000 viewers with a peak topping 1.1 million viewers. That lands as the fourth most watched single regular-season game in NBC Sports Network history and rose 84% over NBC Sports Network’s 2011-12 exclusive time period average.

Even the FCC will offer a get out of jail free card every now and then. After David Ortiz dropped an F-bomb on live television while honoring the victims of the Boston Marathon bombing, FCC chairman Julius Genachowski tweeted his own sympathies, writing, “David Ortiz spoke from the heart at today’s Red Sox game. I stand with Big Papi and the people of Boston – Julius”
