Following the season premiere of Saturday Night Live on NBC this Saturday, a new season of lifestyle program 1st Look, hosted by Ali Fedotowsky (The Bachelor, The Bachelorette) will debut. 1st Look is produced by LX.TV, the lifestyle production unit of the NBC Owned Television Stations division of NBCUniversal. The program airs on more than 200 NBC affiliates nationwide as well as the 10 NBC-owned television stations.
Original CBS 60 Minutes segments will, for the first time, appear on a cable network as part of a new deal forged between 60 Minutes and Showtime Sports. The new monthly sports news magazine show, 60 Minutes of Sports, will premiere in November on premium network Showtime, which is also owned by CBS. Each month, 60 Minutes of Sports will feature two original segments and one updated 60 Minutes classic sports story from the show’s archive. The broadcasts will also contain a topical, studio-based interview with a sports newsmaker.
A new series on Lifetime plays off the theme of its original movie franchise when My Life is a Lifetime Movie debuts October 17 at 10p. The new unscripted series, described as a hybrid, will combine cinematic recreations and first-person interviews with women in danger who relate their true-life stories. Episodes will focus on stories involving sexual misconduct to a real-life fatal attraction situations as told by women from around the US. Lifetime has ordered seven one-hour episodes which will be executive produced by DiGa Partners Liz Gateley and Tony DiSanto in addition to DiGa’s Jordan Roberts and Jessica Antonini. A+E Networks will be involved with global sales for the series.
National Geographic Channel’s new 12-episode series Bid & Destroy follows a demolition company, Danley Demolition as they go treasure hunting in buildings before tearing them down. The series, produced by Leftfield Pictures (creators of Pawn Stars), opens October 10 with double premiere episodes at 9p and 930p.
Comedy series Episodes starring Matt LeBlanc was renewed for a third season by Showtime. The co-production between Showtime and the BBC will begin production in both Los Angeles and London in 2013 on nine half-hour episodes. Episodes is created and executive produced by writing partners David Crane and Jeffrey Klarik and is also executive produced by Jimmy Mulville through his Hat Trick production company.
Bridal series Randy to the Rescue was renewed by TLC for a second season slated to premiere in May 2013 with 10 one-hour episodes. The first season averaged 1.4 million total viewers. Randy to the Rescue is produced for TLC by Half Yard Productions.
Animal Planet granted a fourth season renewal for My Cat From Hell with 17 one-hour episodes targeting 2013. The series, produced for the network by 3 Ball Productions/Eyeworks USA features cat behaviorist Jackson Galaxy as he helps cat owners find solutions for their misbehaving felines.
Country superstar Trisha Yearwood welcomes viewers back into her kitchen as she stars in a second season of Trisha’s Southern Kitchen premiering October 20 at 11a on Food Network. Shot in Oklahoma, the new season feature recipes for a Southern Brunch and a Sunday Supper as well as holidays such as Halloween and Thanksgiving. Guests joining Yearwood include her family and friends and her husband, Garth Brooks. The 13-episode series is produced by Ellen Rakieten Entertainment and RelativityREAL.
A third season of Haven will bow on Syfy starting September 21 at 10p. The premiere episode picks up where the season two finale left off and the next season will spotlight several guest stars including Iain Glen, Bree Williamson, Laura Vandervoort, Dorian Missick, Kate Kelton, Nolan North and Claudia Black. Haven is produced by Entertainment One and Big Motion Pictures in association with Piller/Segan/Shepherd and airs on Syfy in the U.S., Showcase in Canada and internationally on Universal Networks International’s channels. Entertainment One handles the worldwide distribution.

Fashion designer, Betsey Johnson will star in her own reality series along with her daughter, Lulu for Style Network. Betsey + Lulu will debut on Style in spring 2013 and production has begun with filming at Johnson’s 70th birthday party this week following her spring 2013 runway show. The series will follow the mother-daughter duo and the upcoming launch of their new dress collection. Magical Elves (Top Chef, Fashion Star) is producing with Jane Lipsitz and Dan Cutforth of Magical Elves serving as EPs.
Tom Hanks was tapped as the on-camera host, historical commentator and narrator of National Geographic Channel’s two-hour TV event Killing Lincoln set to air in early 2013. The project is based on the book Killing Lincoln: The Shocking Assassination that Changed America Forever by Bill O’Reilly with co-author Martin Dugard. Scott Free Productions and Herzog & Co. are producing for National Geographic Channel.
Toby Stephens has been cast as the lead in STARZ’ original series Black Sails produced by Michael Bay. Stephens will play Captain Flint, one of the most feared pirate captains of the Golden Age of pirates. STARZ will debut the eight-episode pirate adventure series in 2014 which takes place 20 years before Robert Louis Stevenson’s classic novel Treasure Island. Bay serves as EP on the production along with his Platinum Dunes partners Brad Fuller and Andrew Form. Jon Steinberg created the series and is the showrunner; Robert Levine is co-EP. Production will take place at Cape Town Studios in Cape Town, South Africa later this year.

Wednesday A18-49 Analysis: FOX was in the spotlight Wednesday winning the A18-49 demo at 3.4/10, according to final primetime national ratings from Nielsen. At 8p, NBC’s The Voice topped with a 3.4/11 followed by FOX’s season premiere of The X Factor at 2.9/9. During 9p, The X Factor season opener on FOX gained in the ratings to a 3.9/11 and NBC slid down into second place with America’s Got Talent at 2.9/8. NBC was back on top at 10p with the debut of new sitcom Guys with Kids and a repeat of new comedy The New Normal at an average of 1.8/5 (Guys with Kids posted a 2.2/6 at 10p) followed by Univision’s Amor Bravio at 1.6/5.
