New episodes of Kitchen Nightmares for its fifth season starring Chef Gordon Ramsay will return to FOX’s schedule on October 26 at 8p while the network pushes back the second season premiere of Touch starring Kiefer Sutherland to January (date and time TBA). Kitchen Nightmares is a co-production of ITV Studios America and Optomen in association with A. Smith & Co. Productions, Inc. Touch is produced by Chernin Entertainment and Tailwind Productions, in association with 20th Century Fox Television.
The first Presidential Debate ratings from Wednesday night for the broadcast networks, based on Nielsen’s Fast National Ratings were released at approximately 4p ET yesterday. From 9p to 1032p, ABC delivered 11.3 million total viewers/3.92 rating and 4.7 million among A25-54; NBC had 11.1 million total viewers/4.32 rating and 5.2 million among A25-54; and CBS had 10.6 million total viewers/3.80 rating and 4.5 million among A25-54.
NBCUniveral’s third annual Healthy Week will air across all of NBCU’s properties from October 7-14. This year’s Healthy Week focuses on five health themes: sleep, recess, portion control, hydration and “taking five.” Healthy Week themes begin during Football Night in America this Sunday and runs during the eight-day period on more than 50 NBCU properties including the NBC primetime shows Up All Night, Guys with Kids and Go On; NBC News’ shows Today, Nightly News and via CNBC; and on the NBCU cable networks Bravo, Sprout, E!, Syfy and G4 as well as NBCU’s digital assets iVillage among others.
Family entertainment network, GMC TV will premiere the GMC World Premiere Series The Changers on October 17 at 9p. The hybrid drama reality series debuts this month as part of the network’s salute to Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Hosted by Beverly Adams, the show’s co-creator and executive producer and comedian Michael, Jr., the program highlights positive stories of real people helping each other. The Changers is produced by Beverly Adams Entertainment, Inc. in association with Dave Alan Johnson who is also an executive producer, co-creator and director.
Hispanic television network Estrella TV is premiering a new investigative news magazine show En La Mira con Enrique Gratas (On Target with Enrique Gratas) on October 11 at 8p. The show is hosted by news anchor Enrique Gratas and journalist Myrka Dellanos as they present top news stories and exclusive reports from a team of investigative reporters in the US and from around the world. Also next Monday, Estrella TV launches the new half-hour comedy A2D3 (A Dos de Tres or Two out of Three) at 7p.
Netflix will air the original political drama series House of Cards starring Kevin Spacey in one fell swoop next year as all 13 episodes will be available to subscribers on February 1. House of Cards is produced by David Fincher and production on the second season will begin in spring 2013.
ABC Family handed a fourth season renewal to its original series Pretty Little Liars. The new season will consist of 24 one-hour episodes that will debut in mid-2013. The network has a special Halloween themed episode of Pretty Little Liars planned for October 23 at 8p as part of the network’s 13 Nights of Halloween programming event and then the rest of season three will return in January. Pretty Little Liars is produced by Alloy Entertainment in association with Warner Horizon Television.
Effective immediately, MediaVest USA has been chosen as Agency of Record for The Travelers Companies, Inc., providers of property casualty insurance for auto, home and business. The appointment will include planning and buying in addition to content, data and analytics solutions for all of Travelers’ products including personal insurance and business insurance.

Acorn Media selected ALL3MEDIA International to be its global distribution partner for the detective series Foyle’s War. Acorn media acquired Foyle’s War in late 2010 and is working with show producer Jill Green and writer/creator Anthony Horowitz to develop new episodes. Three new two-hour episodes have been commissioned by ITV1 for delivery in 2013 from Eleventh Hour Films, the production company founded by Jill Green. The new episodes will air on Masterpiece Mystery! on PBS during summer 2013. The deal between Acorn Media and ALL3MEDIA additionally includes global representation of the library of 22 two-hour episodes produced between 2002 to 2010.
Telco Productions, Inc. has several new shows set to launch in fall 2013: half-hour series The Hollywood News Report featuring original stories and celebrity interviews; new weekly series Word Travels following real-life travel writers; BizKids$, a weekly E/I series teaching teens about money, investment and entrepreneurship; along with the returning shows What America Thinks with Scott Rasmussen, Real Green, Bob Vila, Live from Daryl’s House and Game Time and returning E/I shows Animal Rescue, Dog Tales, Missing, Dragonfly TV, The Real Winning Edge and Think Big.
NBC’s pilot The Secret Lives of Husband and Wives has cast Australian actor Martin Henderson (Off the Map) in the lead role. Henderson will play Kyle Dunn, a former flight surgeon and astronaut who returns from a long absence to find something is different about the life he left behind. NBC ordered the pilot from Jerry Bruckheimer and Warner Bros. Television last June. The project is based on the book by Josie Brown of the same name.
Casting Call: Celebrities are needed to appear in the eighth season of BIO Channel’s series, Celebrity Ghost Stories. The series also airs internationally. Guests are paid a substantial honorarium for doing the interview. Producers are shooting interview segments in Los Angeles and New York in late October and early November. There is also a possibility of shooting in other cities. Producers will arrange for make-up and hair. Celebrity Ghost Stories is a first-person story telling narrative where celebrities relate their experiences with the paranormal. Halogen TV is taking 53 hours of original content to MIPCOM including Tainted Love (10 eps/30m), The Un-Road Trip (10 eps/30m), Noble Exchange (7 eps/30m), Fire Zone (4 eps/30m), Drum Heads (5 eps/30m), and Jump Shipp (10 eps/30m).
International distributor DCD Rights made a new investment deal with Timeweave plc to partner on the acquisition of new third party distribution rights and to also continue its expansion in this area. The first projects to fall under this deal include the factual rescue series Coast Guard Florida and a second season of Coast Guard Alaska from Al Roker Productions, a total of 26 hours of new original programming to premiere right before MIPCOM.
Independent television studio, Georgeville Television (GVTV) is working with The X-Files creator Chris Carter to finance a new TV series, The After which will debut at MIPCOM where the newly-formed Sierra/Engine Television will be representing the project. Carter wrote the thriller project about a mysterious, unexplained event.
Canada’s national English pay television network, Super Channel has pre-licensed the eight-episode documentary series Naked News Uncovered from AllScreen Entertainment based in Toronto. Filming begins later this month on the series which is set to premiere exclusively on Super Channel in summer 2013.
Recently-formed Imagine Nation, the global content company founded by Kees Abrahams and Robin de Levita, has acquired a 50% stake in TV format distribution specialists, Absolutely Independent. The investment in Absolutely Independent will give Imagine Nation a platform for the acquisition, development and distribution of Netherland-originated and global TV format IP, its commercialization and exploitation internationally. Abrahams will become Co-Chairman of Absolutely Independent working alongside existing Founder/Chief Executive Patty Geneste.

Wednesday A18-49 Analysis: FOX was the overall winner Wednesday delivering a 3.4/10 A18-49, according to final primetime national ratings from Nielsen. At 8p, FOX’s The X Factor dominated with a 3.5/11 followed by CBS’ Survivor: Philippines at 3.0/9. Also this hour ION debuted WWE Main Event which posted a 0.5/1. During 9p, most networks aired the first Presidential Debate though The CW also premiered the new season of Supernatural at 0.8/2. Then at 10p, NBC’s Presidential Debate Analysis did best at 2.8/7 with ABC’s Debate Analysis next at 2.5/6 and CBS’ in third at 2.1/5.

Local multimedia company, LIN Media is expanding its presence in New York City by opening its new digital sales headquarters at Grand Central Plaza, 60 East 42nd Street, New York, NY. Cineflix Studios , the scripted unit of Cineflix Media added Jimmy Hilburn as VP/Marketing to head the marketing initiatives for scripted productions and where he will work closely with domestic and international partners to create a global campaign. Based in New York, Jimmy will report to Christina Wayne, President, Cineflix Studios and Amber Baker, VP/Corporate Operations.
Entertainment One Television (eOne) is expanding its Australian television operations and moving Sales Director, Ben Bishop to eOne’s office in Sydney.
